    310R vs 420R

Hi all i was trawling the archives actually looking for LSD comments when I found this interesting thread from a couple of years ago. I'm looking to come back to the fold and see loads of 420R's on the market but am thinking it's a bit too fast for road use for me and I'm looking for something that will be fun like my old K series VVC was. It's now got me thinking about the Sigma 310R again and going for one of PP packs, I think I could end up spending 420 money but would have a really individual and special car. The comments earlier about the Sigma engine characteristics really appeal. Anyway once I can drive a few cars I think I'll get it clearer in my mind what would suit me best. I'm sure it will all fall in place eventually.. I may need to have a word with PP to understand what I'd be committing to first
  2. Great looking car, some of the photos by GFW?
  3. I'm also looking at coming back into a Caterham and would vote for going to one of the well known Specialists, I personally get wary of anything appearing elsewhere with random dealers. Someone who knows the cars will give you proper after sales help and probably buy it back off you when you come to move on eventually
  4. Something else I have in the garage, a standard SV drivers side floor that was removed when I had a lowered floor fitted a few years ago Collection only from Surrey £20
  5. Thanks all for the quick responses I will email out pictures and info requests to those in order of the PMs received but won't be until tomorrow
  6. I have now sold my Caterham (an Elise is on the way) and have a few bits and pieces to clearout: 1. SV Carbon Aeroscreen, with centre and side mirrors, good condition and perhaps the best accessory you can fit to any Seven. Perfect to try for the summer. These kits are £750 new. £250 SOLD 2. Used spare centre mirror for the above, without the base mount. £198 new. £25 SOLD 3. 4x Toyo Proxes T1-S 195/45 R15 78V of unknown vintage that were on my car when I got it 5 years ago. Approx 4mm of tread, useful for the Dunsfold skidpan.. £20 4. 6 speed black (leather?) gear knob £5 SOLD 5. VVC clutch cable, used, taken off and kept in car as a spare £10 6. Rover throttle cable, as above £10 7. Long Carbon front wing RHS, of use to someone? £30 I can send photo's of any parts if you drop me a PM. Based in Surrey, collection required on the larger parts. Or happy to deliver to a local meet. The rest I can send at postage cost. Thanks
  7. I have just ordered my PVR25 from Powervamp on EBay, didn't know about a club discount though :-(
  8. Thanks for the help Jonathan, I've ordered a new PVR25 now, Sean
  9. Measurement was on a multimeter, I'll see if I can check the levels and clean the contacts as well. If it's no better after a good charge I may have to say goodbye to it.
  10. Usual story, 7 left in garage (K series 1.8), used infrequently, put on an Optimate motorcycle charger when I remember or it's flat. The battery is 7 years old and I've always disconnected the battery master switch when in the garage for the 5 years I've had the car. The other day it wouldn't crank the engine, I put it on the Optimate, charged it, Optmate lights went green but it still wouldn't go. Bump started, drove 20 miles, came home, tried to restart and it refused again. I've now removed the battery for a long charge, would I be better putting it on a more powerful charger. The Optimate only delivers 0.1 amps so is very slow but has worked ok in the past. I have a Halfords car charger. Voltage on the battery seems to be 11/12 volts across the terminals at present, haven't tried a cranking test yet. I also understand from reading up that the SBS40 is a powerful battery so I'm surprised it's died this quickly. I also checked the prices and if I replace it need something cheaper! It's currently fitted on it's side with a bespoke bracket, so something a similar size would be the easiest replacement (250x95x190mm). Can anyone recommend something a bit easier on the wallet? Thanks :-)
  11. Hello, I'm looking for a softer front roll bar to try in place of the red one currently on the car (K series SV). Has anyone got one that is surplus to requirements? Thanks
  12. Thanks all, service booked in with Tech 7
  13. I tinker a bit but would prefer an expert to do the service and give it a full check over. It gets driven a lot harder than a tin top
  14. I have checked the posts over the last few years on servicing in Surrey and was after some recent recommendations as CCC still can't offer servicing and had always done my car in the past. I used DPR recently for a set up check but was keen to check all the options first, 7 Tech and PGM have also been mentioned a few times. 7 Tech are pretty close to me and DPR aren't too far away. Can some knowledgeable people help steer me in one direction to someone to service and generally fettle my 7 (2002 VVC). Thanks
  15. I also got Fiat ones off eBay for a fraction of that cost
  16. I had the tunnel cover off and the circlip seemed ok but the spring return was very stiff, so I oiled it a little and it seems ok now
  17. I have RHS and interior, well it was
  18. Thanks, job done then! Just hope it's dry on Saturday morning
  19. I recently fitted a secondhand Caterham carbon aeroscreen to my SV but it only came with a small righthand carbon mirror (approx 12cm x 6cm) which I assume is a Caterham one. Has anyone got a spare lefthand mirror they don't want or a pair to sell?
  20. I recently fitted the carbon Aeroscreen I got at the Caterham auto-jumble and now need to get the car MOT'd at the weekend. Will the MOT tester pass the car without raising this as an issue or should I put the screen back on to be safe. The Aeroscreen currently only has a right hand mirror, not sure if that's an issue as well? Advice appreciated
  21. Wow, how did you remember that! I'll check it out, many thanks
  22. I was in the blue 7, it was so cold I can't remember what colour yours was.. oh dear
