  1. yesterday, heading towards Broadford, lone Black and Yellow/gold 7 , only a glimpse through traffic, so who,s playing up here and enjoying this ridiculously good weather . Tim
  2. Specialist suppliers only, all the build tools needed in a box
  3. Suspect to do it manually you would need to remove the upholstery, If there is a socket with 3 pins on seat would have thought it would be a simple + or - 12v depending on direction, should be a simple check with DVM and wire colour to work out which pin is which , battery and a couple of bits of wire should do it, but would probably want to do a quick check of diagrams first,, replacing smoke can be a big job.
  4. I have had exactly the same problem a BlueC7 above On a CSR as well ) , loose screws attaching butterfly to spindle causing butterfly to foul body and Jam, although mine jammed just before closing so not quite as dramatic, to re centre I made sure both screws were very slightly loose, allowed butterfly to close fully and using finest feeler guage just put tip of gauge between barrel and bottom of butterfly then nipped up screws . all ok afterward Tim
  5. BTT just in case someone missed it or expected xmas presy didn't arrive
  6. 23 different sizes, if you go to the checker linked in first post you can enter your tyre size and it will give you the Autosock size for your tyres , I had them for 225/45 R17 Tim
  7. 2 pairs of unused Auosock 645s, were for my Quattro which has now gone :-( you can check sizing here http://www.autosock.co.uk/autosock-size-guide/ seem to range between £35 and £65 on t'internet how about £30 per pair +postage at cost only 1 pair required for most cars Tim
  8. And to make things worse, I think the "new" S3 is may be his good ladies Christmas present , ooooops
  9. "If you were local I would happily pop over for a look but I think Austria might be pushing it a bit! Hanns Per is an excellent host, lives in a beautiful area, you would enjoy the trip, and you could visit the Christmas market in Salzburg , a lot of plusses , Flights are cheapish Tim
  10. I'm not sure thats strictly correct Shaun, the site is still only indexing titles and first post , as reported several weeks ago, so if "speed Championship" occurs after the first post it won't find it. Tim
  11. What get Hanns Per in an S3 when he has his beloved CSR, Naaah Tim
  12. Hanns Per Margaret is 5'4", but has shorter than average legs, and can drive the CSR OK, Caterham moved seat runners forward slightly to help, I would have though moving runners and possibly moving pedals and she would be fine. Tim

    CSR Query

The short answer is yes and some CSRs were supplied with QR steering wheels,, more info Here presuming you have a swoopy dash (modular) mine has a flat dash with no column stalks so no problem at all :-) Tim
  14. Think you and Ahmed need to share http://www.lotus7.club/forum/chitchat/all-season-tyres data Tim
  15. if you went to215/65 R17 you would keep diameter in spec, but not sure if would help with tyre prices, Think manufacturers say 2% change in Diameter maximum, so I guess your proposed change -3% would technicaly invalidate your comprehensive insurance, might have some effect on ESP/Traction control, possibly cause some oversteer. general change to steering geometry. Tim
  16. They are still on site and, unusualy, they have stock, http://www.caterhamparts.co.uk/product.php?id_product=3272
  17. To quote a Swedish CSR owner, "they will add at least 50g of downforce", the official Caterham blurb for the CSR was Aerodynamics Aerodynamic improvements have majored on the face of the famous Seven. The introduction of re-profiled cycle wings, which are mounted even closer to the tyre to cut drag, and a new larger nose cone complete with a floor mounted chin, have combined to reduce the front end lift by 50 percent. The net effect for the driver is a major decrease in high-speed understeer. But no mention of the winglets, there are several claims that the winglets help with understeer, but can't find any proper tested numbers, but they are carbon therefore they must work
  18. top marks for bravery
  19. as well as Joachim of course http://westermann-motorsport.com, who is also the cheapest, if you collect them, nice excuse for a weekend away :-) Glue, Screw or rivet whatever floats your boat, mine are glued
  20. Maybe I have not thought it through fully but I can think of no logical reason, other than maybe cost which I would have thought neglible, not to have a members only forum, I understand you don't want to post attributeable views but can you indicate the gist of the reasons not to have a Members only section. Obviously understand your position may preclude this Tim
  21. so only £2-50 if someone collects then Tim
  22. Thanks Shaun, appreciated Tim
  23. Any news on this yet Shaun, as far as I can see the site is still only indexing the first post not whole thread cheers Tim
  24. Reads well enough but I'm sure John Aston or Michael Calvert, the editor, would be happy to help titivate it, if you feel it needs it. Tim
