you have BM Clive, interested if K7VCT doesn't go ahead Tim
  2. Ah , was in egg sucking territory, apologies
  3. Adrian, sorry if i'm teaching you to suck eggs here, you may have a reason for looking for used, but are you aware, as far as i know anyway, Avon can still supply CR500s , maybe try BMTR , just thought i would mention it . Tim
  4. yep sounds odd, not in a good way either, but as an aside, i'm not sure how much i would trust your meter, for one thing the voltage , in theory anyway, cannot rise when engine turned off, and i would be very surprised to see a battery read 14.5 v across the terminals, with engine not running. but it is obviously something is wrong and as said it sounds like your regulator as piers says, so basicaly the alternator is just putting AC across the battery, the normal classic sign is charge light out at tickover but come on as revs build. however it wouldn't be unusual for it to be on all the time. try not to drive around too much looking for a garage it isn't going to be doing your battery any good, and could cause it to boil . interesting article here about Batteries/alternators and charge if you are interested oh and presumeably you know these folk if your battery is fubared, they are pretty quick and prices difficult to beat https://www.tayna.co.uk/ good luck Tim
  5. Paul, maybe you can get some smarty points by pointing out to your partner that you only did it to help with their Tan next time you have a spin up to Bamburgh /sites/default/files/images/users/10243/reflector.jpg
  6. Dunno, you can let us know next summer , you'll notice if your driving shoes melt and stick your foot to the tunnel , mind with the CSR thats always a possibility anyway :-) Tim
  7. nope never bother logging out, think it auto logs you out eventually , as an aside when did we get a second login in, does that mean everyone can have one alias, Tim
  8. Have you considered that when its nice and shiny it will reflect more heat back into the engine bay , you may have to spray it matt black once you have finished making it shiny Tim
  9. OOh Torch thread , you're right cant remember one, you are correct about the chinese ones, having said that if you are wise to Lumens as you are to amphours there are some bargains out there, the cree chips are almost ubiquitous now, and dirt cheap, its build quality and control cctry that is poor in the knockoffs, however i have had some decent ones, but yes my goto for reliability and quality is still Lenser T7M with eneloop rechargeable AAA , it's a bright as any torch could ever need to be, small enough to go on belt or just about into a pocket and has excellent control ccts, edit various threads in search but probably about time to revitalise one ;-) maybe this one
  10. interesting, in the spec it gives 2 charging times, 3 hours at 5v 2amp or 4 - 6 hours, so if we presume still 2 amps, so as you say its either 6AH or at best 12AH, but not 30AH as advertised, but useful things, i use them quite a lot for powering stage FX when its not possible to get mains or its safer LV, also very useful for fireing pyro
  11. who's about in Skye then , flashed you from silver Landy Tim
  12. As in http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/motorsport/battery-isolators-master-switches/lma-replacement-cover-for-fia-battery-master-switch although i have no idea how generic these are Tim
  13. presumably, as archivist, Martin61 on here could help as well , maybe message him Tim
  14. Ian B, oh es will do p.mole i don't leave them connected , once charged just leave it isolated with FIA switch, but thanks for input Tim
  15. well cheap Chinese charger worked fine, brought voltage back up to 12.4, CTEK now behaving itself , sometimes think these clever chargers are sometimes too clever , I would have been stuck if i hadn't had a choice of chargers, to be honest out of all my chargers (that would be quite a sad comment on any other forum :-) ) the Aldi Auto xs at £13.99 has been most reliable and done best job on several sizes of battery and claims to do everything the CTEK does (apart from recon.) although can't really claim how good it is at Maintenance charging but it does have a continuous mode , just never used it. Thanks for all the input Tim
  16. Cheers all, food for thought, will keep Drop testing as emergency measure :-) , will report back later when more aggressive charger has had a go , then i will try a recondition with ctek, thanks for tip on connector , did wonder about the intermediate connector between ctek and crocs , Tim
  17. not ruled that out JK , but its not an old battery (i terms of usage anyway) and its never been flat flat, i'll check fluids tomorrow and bung on a "dumb ish " charger, she is going to be standing for another few weeks so not urgent, Its a Ctek CTE-XS7000 so maybe could try it on a spare Landy battery . As you say maybe time for a change , have to say considering all the bad press i have seen for Banners this one has been great up until now Tim
  18. Battery a bit low after standing for a while, FIA switch removed, thought i would bung some charge in , before connecting ctek battery voltage around 11.48 volts, using snowflake mode or normal, ctek light 1 flashes for a while as normal (desulphating pulse) then error light, reset same again, tried recond setting similar, error light, remade battery connections checked accross ctek socket getting 11.48 V so connection ok, tried again same problem , reset and left for a while, took longer for error light to come on. Charger hasn't done a lot of work and always been fine as has Battery, will try more aggressive charger tomorrow and see if battery accepts charge . anyone else seen similar problem, oh and after those attempted charge cycle Battery V dropped to 11.1, which is also odd, Tim
  19. very odd, can't think of anything else, i know a few years back it had several of us doing the monkey thing to work out the buttons , i guess if you can identify button 1, by it displaying peak functions then just hold it down as you press all the others it might help , when i had a query a while back i found the guys at stack very helpful, although i did hear a rumour that the agent for stack had changed, but you could try here http://www.stackltd.com/contact.html for contact details , or maybe Merlin Motorsport Castle Combe Circuit, Chippenham Wiltshire SN14 7EY UK Tel: +44 (0) 1249 782 101 Web: www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk Tim
  20. L7 yes they all have 5 buttons one is a shift light button so to be ignored, are you sure you are not missing the fact they do not number 1,2,3,4 Caterham fit them 1,2,4,3 , we know it works because it changed in the first place, :-) this is my original note to my self stack buttons left to right, shift light switch, switch 1, switch 2, switch 4, switch 3. L - R.... Shift light, 1, 2, 4, 3. 1 & 3 to switch MPH/KPH” you can identify button 1 , its the one that when pressed and held displays peak values, on my CSR the first button is shift light so second button is 1 and last button is 3 Tim
  21. OK i used to know this, spent a long time working it out and somewhere there is a post about it, if i remember correctly the buttons are not logically numbered They run 1,2,4,3 from the left. In cars with Windscreens the button furthest right is the shift light button, so the 1st button on the left is button 1. On aeroscreen cars the button furthest left is shift light button, so the 2nd button in is No.1 According to the instructions, push buttons 1 & 3 simultaneously to switch MPH/KPH or KPH/MPH, this is a cut and paste from alicat's post , if it doesn't work let me know and i'll do some more digging, if I get a chance i'll test it on mine later , Tim
  22. think this is the guy Ian is referring to, there was also a thread on FB group, http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/232071072470 Tim
  23. Ian thanks, excellent suggestion, not a bike person so wasn't aware that Decathlon bikes got decent press, will pss that on as a possibility , had some other kind offers and info via PMs so as always this great club is coming up trumps again Hi JK hope all is good :-) Tim
  24. Thanks Si, I'll try and get a figure, i believe she has just approached her employer about the cycle to work scheme thing as well, don't know if that helps or hinders you :-) , I know she is pretty tight on money so i would say for sure below £500, other than that as low as can be done without wasting the money whereabouts are you based ? Tim
  25. Friend has just started going mini triathlon with a view to progress, she is on very tight budget, any of you keen bike folk on here have anything for sale that might suit, she is 5' 4" 28" leg cheers Tim
