    Tall FIA Bar

CSKIP, B*lls! I'm after a Dedion one, sorry for the false alarm. Cheers, Davebo. Edited by - davebo on 26 Feb 2003 16:12:01
  2. Anyone got a de-dion FIA rollover bar surplus to requirements ? Thanks, Davebo. Davebo C7 CAR
  3. If you're talking rear wings use plastic bolts and 2 plastic nuts on each bolt. I believe M6 is the correct size as there are a couple of blind holes (rivnuts ?). I did this on my car and they popped off a treat without damaging the skin. I even managed to re-use the bolts after. You can get them from most fastner places and they cost £b*gger-all. 4. Other than baffling (short term), Dry Sump is the way to go. In the meantime you can overfill a bit, but it will 'slosh' (I think that's the correct technical term). Davebo C7 CAR

    seat fixing

Depends on the age of you car. Most std seats just bolt through the floor. There are channels under the floor to reinforce it which should be pre-drilled. The rear bolts require jamming a big screwdriver into the rails as there's b*gger all room to get a spanner on the head. HTH, Davebo C7 CAR
  7. Mine has a little bit of play fore and aft, but other than that it's rock solid. I think that's normal. Any sideways play suggests either worn splines or play lower down. Davebo C7 CAR
  8. So, how the divil are you supposed to flush the system and refill it with the right concentration of stuff (Coldstream pre-mix in our case) ? Cheers, Davebo C7 CAR

    Your car !

Graeme, thanks for the info. I'll double check with 750mc, but I expect you're right. I have 9 signatures in total, but 6 of then are from speed events, so I guess they won't count. Getting another 7 signatures between niow and October would be 'challenging'. B*gger! ☹️ Checked with 750MC and Graeme is exactly right. Double b*gger! Your car !

Graeme, Er, no. @rse! I'm still a novice 'B'. B*gger all chance of getting the extra signatures now. How come it needs a class A ? Davebo.

    Your car !

I'm after a car I can use for the Birkett relay in October. Anyone got a car suitable for a race meeting that they are willing to hire out to an 'in it for serious fun not serious contact' type racer ? If so, please call me on 07801 671907. Thanks, Davebo C7 CAR
  12. Heater valve ? Is that still there if you don't hasve a heater ? Thanks again, Dave.
  13. Oh, one more question...would what's in the pump make up the missing 2 litres ? If not, where the heck is the missing fluid ? OK, just one more. If the collected wisdom is not to fill the tank up to the fill mark, just how much should be in the system ? Cheers, Davebo C7 CAR
  14. There's a thread on For Sale about this. The 'Chatterbox' intercom can be used with helmets or without (allegedly - I've never used one). I believe they are very similar to the ones Maplin sell for a tenner. I use an Oxford bike set, but they can only be used avec un helmet. Sorry. Davebo C7 CAR
  15. I'm in Yorkshire (Leeds), the car is outside York. It has to be a no risk job, so it will have to go in. The fan switch I can do. Cheers, All. Davebo C7 CAR
  16. What should the coolant volume be for a VVC ? Manual says 5.1 litres / 9 pints without heater and less a pint for VVC's (I think). Making about 4.5 litres. Try as we might we could only get 2.5 litres out of the car (and back in again obviously). That was with disconnecting pipes, various ends jacked up, and giving the expansion tank a good blow job. Is the manual wrong (Shock horror) ? Or am I doing something wrong ? TIA, Davebo C7 CAR
  17. Peter, Thanks for the advice. Caterham suggested whipping the head off was a good idea. The local Rover garage said it was a bit of a job what with the liners and everything, so I am happy to leave it to them. They said the head would need skimming to be on the safe side. Guess that's b*ggered Saturday's track day then. Don't know why it won't start though. It was running quite happily when we were flushing the rad. Is there a thread on here or the Se7ens List about the correct wiring for a fan switch ? Thanks, Edited by - davebo on 30 Jul 2002 11:19:15
  18. ...And another thing while I remember. If the engine gets hot, the car refuses to restart. It will turn over and fire up, then dies (even with throttle applied). I assume the ECU is shutting it down, but WHY ??!!! TIA again.
  19. Bit of overheating on a VVC (fan switch) has caused some emulsified oil in the expansion tank. No problems in the engine itself as far as I can tell, no gunk under the oil filler cap. On a scale of 1 to 10 how concerned should I be ? ☹️ TIA, Davebo C7 CAR Edited by - davebo on 29 Jul 2002 15:03:52
  20. Cheapest place to pick up a battery ? Sainsbury's car park. (Just kidding). Edited by - Davebo on 25 Jul 2002 13:41:58
  21. Bloke I know had to sell his Porsche 911 'cos a towbar wasn't an option. Had to settle for an M5. What a bummer! (Or Bimmer I suppose). You'd have to go a long way to beat the Land Cruiser Colorado as a tow car IMHO. Aircraft hangar type space for tools, etc., great pulling power (diesel) and great hadnling (for a 4x4) when not hauling. Downside? Not quite the cachet of the Amazon. 22. Demon Thieves about £30 (one shown at £26, one at £33), spare keys £3 (for when you forget/lose the first one). Vehicle Wiring Products £20, spare key £1.43 VWP Tel: 0115 9305454 email sales@vehicleproducts.co.uk Cheers
  23. No, no don't advertise it on here. SOmeone will see it and snap up the bargain of a lifetime. B*gger! I'll have to find a relative to sell now. Davebo C7 CAR
