    good tools

I agree with the positive comments on the Halfords Pro stuff. The ratchet spanners were INVALUABLE when building my car. Their torque wrenches are good too, especially the ones with vast ranges (if you can encourage the staff to find them). They also do some useful gadgets for making tricky jobs easier. (Spanner adapters, etc.) I also have a Draper 1/4" socket/driver set which is actually very good quality. I use Machine Mart for odds and sods where quality isn't an issue. Best bargain was heavy duty axle stands (£7) from Costco! Davebo C7 CAR
  7. Caterham will fax you the pages if you ring the factory. Mine arrived without the poppers or the 'tool' which I had to buy separately, then I bought a new kit and now I've got 2...somehwere. If the bases are not already in the rear of the car be ULTRA ULTRA careful when drilling them as a couple of the marked areas are very near to chassis members and it's easy to go a wandering with the drill. Race Seats

I have a foam pad in my car. It's upholstered in vinyl and just slots into the drivers side and is fixed in place with poppers top and bottom. It's about 2-3 inches thick and is acutally very comfortable. It gives me an extra 2 or 3 inches in height and probably the same in legroom. I got mine from Caterham Midland (nee CLassic Carriage Co.) 01455 841616. ABout 65 plus Value Added Theft. Cheers, Davebo.
  12. Chris, I've seen a few like that. Are they a new design from Caterham or from someone else ? DBo.
  13. Gerry, No I didn't take it to the 'garage' they p*ssed me off. I'm tempted to tax and insure it and run it myself until it's sold and b*llox to the tax man. I'm still polishing the car so a week's delay means it will just look even more beautiful. Cheers, Davebo.
  14. Andrew, When you say 'I've got a standard, as new grill, if you need one' Do you mean: a) I've got a grille for a nosecone or b) I've got a new nosecone with a grille ? if a) I've got a grille, if b) yes please. Cheers, Davebo.
  15. Al, If it's not burred it too much you could get a rivnut fitted and then screw a popper base into that. I've never done it but there are Blatchatters who have. The conventional wisdom is tha the rivnut must be absolutely dead straight. I'd search the blatchat archives for 'rivnut' and see what it comes up with. If Caterham are going to fix it, I'd guess that's what they'd do rather than fit a whole new alu side. Cheers, DBo.
  16. Mat, Whereabouts in the front? Would it be covered by the number plate or is it higher up ? It might be worth a look if the price is right. Whereabouts are you? I'm in Leeds. Cheers, DBo.
  17. There's posh for you! Not like in my day. wink.gif Davebo C7 CAR
  18. Al, Is this on the passenger side or the driver's ? If it's the driver's I wouldn't bother as it's not whilst you are moving. (Therefore, I assume it's the passeneger side). If so, I recommend the racer's favourite fixing gadget - tape. Cheers, DM.
  19. I know it's a bit of a long shot, but if anyone has a 'spare' yellow nosecone for sale I'd be interested. Std Caterham yellow ? Cheers, Davebo. Edited by - davebo on 1 May 2001 13:07:02
  20. £9500 will buy you my 1 year old Classic without a nasty Q plate. 2300 miles. I'm based in Leeds, an easy commute from London. See my add in the For Sale section. Cheers, Davebo.
  21. Hardly used. As fitted to a 2000 Live Axle Classic (extra upper wishbone link). Offers ? Edited by - davebo on 1 May 2001 13:07:41
  22. At the risk of going mad talking to myself... Going once...
  23. Chalres, If you can wait (and whoever buys my car doesn't want it) you can have my Live Axle Petty Strut for a NtL contibution. DM.
  24. Sprinter, TL Clowes (the Caterham approved insurer) worked for me and they include Caterham trackday cover and cover for most others at about 26 quid per day. Cover for me (36) in Leeds was just over 200 quid fully comp. Tel: 01926 439 439 DBo. Edited by - davebo on 26 Apr 2001 12:58:33
  25. Brian, Good points. I never thought of that, but I'm sure the silicone will withstand a good clout. If Derek says rivet then get the old rivet gun out. Might be worth a washer to spread the load if there's enough clearance. Otherwise a good clout will tear the ali anyway. I didn't know the K cars had 4 pieces either. Is that because of cross bracing ? Cheers, DBo.
