Hi John. Well, I followed your instructions before you edited them....and at first didn't get any voltage until I realised I hadn't turned the ignition on (Doh! x 2). Once I had done that I got 12.76V, so definitely the switch. I see that the item is currently OOS at CC - any suggestions where I might source one from? Is this something I can swap myself?? Many thanks.

Thanks Jonathan, Are there any tips on cleaning terminals? WD40? Meths? Emery paper?

Hi John, I've just connected the terminals and the fan started so the fault must be elsewhere, as you say. What can I try next please? Thanks.

The radiator fan on my 2001 Roadsport 1.8K series has stopped working - it was fine on Thursday but not cutting in at all today. I presume it will either be one or a combination of: fan/switch/wiring/fuse. With my (very) limited electrical knowledge I have checked the fuse and that is intact. Not sure what to do next - any suggestions? PS: I do have a Multimeter - following JK's advice that every 7 owner should have one! - but have never ever used it. Thanks.

... for information:- Via Adrian Flux, with Highway (LV I believe): £214 for Fully comp, SD&P only, 3k miles, £150 excess (£90 on w/screen). No trackdays included. Roadsport SV 2001, 1.8, 120BHP, parked on driveway, 1 accident in last 5 yrs. For an additional £15 I can get an agreed valuation - hmmm, thinking about that. I can't get near that with any others - mainly because of the lack of a garage (the Manchester postcode doesn't help either!).

I've opted for A021Rs for the summer months and Uniroyal Rainexperts for the other 10 months of the year. Still driving on the latter this year....and they have served me well so far, with no 'incidents' in the wet/damp conditions we see occasionally here in Manchester.

Thanks SM25T - yes, new CRB fitted at the same time. It is due for service in about a month and oil level checks will be included. Is there anything else gearbox/diff related I should be getting checked at the same time?

OK, so my 7 has developed a distinct whine somewhere from the rear - it only occurs once the car is warmed up and when I partially or fully lift off the throttle. Seems to be in 3rd, 4th & 5th only but very difficult to hear anything in lower gears due to exhaust noise etc. Having a passenger doesn't affect it. Anyone come across this? My thoughts were either some gearbox or diff bearing issue?? Specifically, there is an (old) oily look to the gearbox casing but the bellhousing is clean - can't currently check the diff due to a short term mobility problem. Car just had a new comp clutch fitted by CC and the whine has occurred since then. Could it just be the gearbox/diff needs oil? Facts: 2001, 1.8L, 120bhp Roadsport with 5 speed box and standard diff. and suspension.

Hi, I'm after a set of 13" plain minilites PCD 108 (5 if possible) to replace my current 14" set. The plan is to fit them with 185x70 AO21R rubber - if these are already fitted so much the better. WHYG? Thanks, Twincamtim (2001 1.8 R/S SV)
