  1. I have emailed you........but there are L7C email server problems at the moment so no idea when you will get it!
  2. Thanks to everyone for their comments, very enlightening! I think I need to drive one and see if I experience the same magic attraction you all seem to have discovered. I'll let you know how I get on......
  3. I can’t seem to find much on BC about this so…… As I’m considering a change of 7 direction can anyone please tell me what living with a xflow is like compared to a K series e.g. do they need tuning every 5 mins, are spares readily available, is using the h/brake tricky, are they temperamental, what is their Achilles Heel, etc? Thanks.
  4. Looking good and I waved from the pavement as you cruised past.
  5. Silver 7 near the Horse & Jockey pub....
  6. I was in my green and yellow and we waved at each other!
  7. Ha, ha, ha, all sorted.......it was a loose wire . The brown and white wire female spade connector on the starter "looked" like it was connected, but wasn't! I should have checked the wiring first, doh! Now I think about it I did drive down a cobbled road the other day and I bet the vibration worked the connector off, and so nothing actually changed 'overnight' but in fact changed whilst I last drove it. I've tightened the connector and refitted - starts like a good'un now. Many thanks for all the advice, sorry for being such a twit .
  8. Fuse checked - it's ok. I might just change it to 30A anyway, as suggested. Voltage checked - 13.16v, unchanged when I press the 'go' button......
  9. Tried again this morning, after battery on charge overnight - no change! I guess that rules out the battery then (although I'll try and check the voltage at some point). Onto the next item, cables - I'll get to them later today, weather permitting.
  10. Jonathan, It's a 2001 Roadsport with a standard dash. I'll pm you shortly - plans would be great, thanks.
  11. To Revilla: I have no idea where the ECU fuse is located (I know I should know where all the fuses are.....but it's one of those jobs I never seem to get around to). Please can you direct me? To the others: I will check these tomorrow. To all: many thanks.
  12. OK, so I went to start the 7 this evening – turned off immobiliser, turned the key (ignition light on, pump buzzed as usual), pressed starter button…….there was a faint click from the engine bay but nothing else happened. This has never happened before in 12 months of ownership. I had a previous 7 which had the K click so I tried rocking in 3rd gear and had another attempt but no change. I pressed the fuel cut-off switch under the bonnet but no change. I have checked all the connectors but nothing seems loose. It worked fine yesterday and the day before, and last week, and nothing has changed since yesterday (well, something has but I don't know what) so I am really confused . What am I missing? I have searched through some similar posts and they generally point towards batteries/fuses/earthing/ECU issues. I tried again but with the headlights on to see if they dimmed but they didn’t but not sure what that proves. Beginning with the simplest, I have put the battery on a trickle charge overnight and will try again tomorrow morning. In the meantime, if anyone has a please let me know! Thanks.
  13. Yes Jonathan, I am. Currently using a Carcoon but due to move it into a garage without power (duh! Fail) so thought of using a solar powered one. I'll look through the archives (sorry, should have done that first).
  14. I know this is sort of a different question but I'll give it a try: Can anyone comment on, or recommend, a battery charger which operates using a solar panel as a power source?
  15. Unused (I no longer have a VVC). From CC for £34.93 (RHD part no. 72616) but currently OOS so, say £15 plus p&p (not sure how much that would be - say a fiver?).
  16. Hi Jonathan, Am I too late to order one black bag and one tube - if the tubes aren't being ordered yet please can I have the bag now? I will need your account details for transfer or I can send a cheque, whichever you prefer. Thanks. Tim.
  17. It seems sensible to try the advice offered by JK before doing anything else....although the 'holed' thermostat doesn't sound too drastic. G30 on order and hoping for a dry weekend while I tinker. Many thanks for all the advice. I will report back when I have something new to add.
  18. I followed the above advice and then ran the engine: The engine steadily warmed up and the temp gauge climbed to 110 - at that point I panicked and switched it off: the heater hoses, the large top hose and the top of the radiator were pretty hot but the bottom of the rad and the large bottom hose were still cold. The radiator fan did not start at any point and the expansion tank didn't leak. Given what SM25T suggests I was thinking of trying the 'hole in the thermostat' approach next....does that make sense?
  19. (2001 Roadsport SV with K series 1.8 120bhp) OK, I have a mystery problem (to me anyway) and wondered if anyone could advise: Radiator fan switch failed mid-July; replaced and worked normally until last week. Replaced the switch again yesterday and the fan worked as expected (only ran the engine up to temp on the drive, not driven). Drove the car for the first time today, did about 10 miles and then the temperature quickly spiked (to 120) followed by it dumping water out of the header tank. It has never done this before. Fan did not work at this point. Does anyone have any ideas? It seems to my simple mind that the failing fan switch is merely a symptom not the cause - has the water pump or thermostat failed??
  20. OK, a bit of a story to this: the car has recently been for a service. In doing the oil change (the story goes) they found the sump plug thread had been damaged due a clout in the past and needed retapping to a larger size with an oversize plug nut. A day or so after it's return I spotted there was a small oil leak from the sump plug - about a teaspoonful. I checked with the garage and they recommended slightly tightening the plug, but not by much; "They are just nipped as it’s an aluminium thread without a steel insert. Basically yours was an early sump so it was re tapped out rather than the later type which is a larger thread." I did as told and added maybe an eighth of a turn - it seemed pretty firm to me and I was scared to overtighten given the response. Subsequently, the leak has reduced to about a 5p piece size pool each night. I am awaiting a further response from the garage. What do my fellow blatters think I should do, if anything, please?
  21. All sorted. This is the first 'proper job' I've done on the car (i.e. other than checking oil, air and water, etc) and it feels very satisfying - many thanks for all the help! I couldn't have done this without you....
  22. Does anyone know the torque setting for the radiator cooling fan switch??? Thanks.
  23. Just rang Redline and they are putting one in the post to me as I type! Marvellous.
