  1. Bit slow on the uptake I know but if the others pull out then cash waiting 07971 448 131 Steve
  2. I think you should have at least.....oooh say 501miles before you let rip. On my way back from the 1st service I explored the limiter, 2000miles later, 4trackdays no probs what so-ever. Not a drop of oil used either. enjoy 😬

    Airlock?

I went through this as well, after lots of running, lifting the nose etc I still could not get the rad hot and the fan to cut in. I then went through the process of back filling from the heater holding the tube nice and high and taping over the heater pipe so it didn't just run through. Once the pipe was completely full when elevated I quickly reconnected and it was fine from then on. Hope this makes sense good luck.
  4. I never thought I would find the subject of oil interesting, I was wrong Am I alone in thinking that paying for a few litres of oil at whatever cost really is small change when you consider all the other costs of buying and running the car. What this info has done is made me realise that I really don't need to change the oil in any of my cars or bikes every 3000miles...........that is indeed a very good thing 😬
  5. no offence but I've just remembered how chemistry lessons always induced sleep
  6. i've got stainless and if I new what I know now would of gone CF. The stainless look pretty shot basted already....don't even mention the salt effect on them!
  7. A message on chitchat got me thinking about the subject of tyre pressures. Obviously there critical to get right, can anyone explain to me the exact effect of raising or lowering the pressures with respect to handling during a trackday. For example is it possible to dial out some understeer characteristics by lowering or raising the front tyre pressures? Can of worms I'm sure, I'm sitting comfortably
  8. oil and filter change and then.........a damn good thrashing sir
  9. come on guy you know you might as well bite the bullet and just get that 1st upgrade....anti-cav tank 😬 Just got one fitted to mine I've almost crashed twice now playing with the toggle switch for oil and water temp instead of looking where I was going. Its got to be worth if for peace of mind if your doing track days.

    raceco

I have a 140 roadsport with standard silencer and manifold. Just wondering if anyone here had upgraded to the 4-2-1 raceco option a. what was the cost inc of fitting for the whole system (don't fancy cutting the larger hole) b. has it made much of a difference (both drivability and power gains) c. should I be thinking of changing something else? to match the exhaust upgrade It needs to get me into all the venues e.g bedford etc I know exhausts has been done to death but its always nice to get a definative answer from people in the know!
  11. caterham only stock an ant0cav tank for the K series, maybe its not such an issue with the VX, someone will be along to tell us more. Flaps you have inspired me to come along to the herts meet soon, being a new boy did they steal your pocket money and flush your head down the bog?
  12. Rollucks...I've just purchased an appollo tank, I thought I would bite the bullet and get it all done at the first service, makes sense in that they will be replacing the oil etc however makes no financial sense! Even worse the web of lies regarding cash, 7 and upgrades has already started with the Wife.

    Jack

Does anyone know where the jack in the toolkit provided originally comes from. I have managed to lose this some how and was wondering if I could get one from a breakers. I don't know how much caterham will charge for it, but I bet its not cheap.
  15. I've had a look through some of the earlier posts and theres a fair few with anti-cav tanks experiencing high temp, low pressure etc. I'm going to give it a go and see what happens.
  16. Just wondered if anyone else here has done a number of track days on standard avons (as supplied to roadsports on 14"s) and their experience. Am I better to foresake one trackday this year and spend the money on an anti-cav tank or with the standard ungrippy tyres....will this not be a problem. Its an upgrade thats going to happen but I just fancy going round in circles first!
  17. Please someone out there tell us where it is.... 7heavensoon, just checked out your build site, the cars looking good mate nice spec.
  18. cheers for the replies guys, guess we all must of ticked the misty dials option box on the order form!
  19. Just a quick one , the cars on the road now and is garaged and has never been out with the hood off in the rain yet (I'm sure its just a matter of time). The dials are misting up as the car warms up so they obviously have moisture caught in them (All of them). Basically is this to be expected or should I persue the waranty, will they over time stop working as electrics and water are not the best of friends.

    Brakes

I'm thinking of improving the brakes for track days (they are completely standard at the mo) whats the best course of action. I'm assuming that I should look at upgrading the calipers or would a simple pad change help? would a simple front caliper upgrade be the answer and if so should I go the cc route? cheers stevo
  21. Its good to see that other people have the same trials in life as me! You have to get the engine almost fully in and then using your chinese puzzle techniques fit the manifold into place and it will fit under the diagnol. I could not believe how far I had to lower the engine to get the manifold clear. Once done I also had trouble getting the engine mouts to line up. By loosly doing up the side theres just enough movemnet to get the other side in. Only then can you do up the mounts fully, they need to be loose before hand to give you the play required. Good luck stevo
  22. I've had another quick go and unless I'm missing something (would not be first time) it won't go.....one for the PBC I suppose.
