  1. You really want to find a one man band for this. Anyone who does higher volumes won't want to know, any motorsport place that does one offs will charge a fortune. I'd make sure whatever is wrong with yours isn't repairable before disappearing down that rabbit hole, oh and have plenty of cash put aside lol
  2. Its a plug that happens to be an OBD plug as its a standard thing. The ecu doesn't have any OBD that can be read by a scan tool, this doesn't apply to the Suzuki or the EU versions though, you can only use the MBE program to observe things. The dash faults wouldn't be able to be seen via that either as they are just standalone gauges.
  3. If your car is factory 2006 then it would have been metric. The engine bay diagonals are possibly the easiest way to have checked. I'd think about removing the excess from the boss and making the hole deeper. The cage will have 7/16 unf threads in I expect unless they have commonised to metric on those newer style cages? At least yours is designed to take a full head bolt so you don't need to get a thin head bolt like on imperial cars
  4. One of the quirks is that metric bars will fit imperial frames with a spacer as they have a shorter stub but yours seems not that way? Definitely not a spacer jammed in the hole?
  5. Shame you're so far away. Been after one like that. GLWS
  6. It possibly depends on when IVA required the weights to be on the chassis plate as to whether yours should have it on there, they do for type approved cars. The current plates have 860kg as GVW, 360kg as front axle and 500kg as rear axle weights I believe. Never seen one with the unladen weight on.
  7. If you are talking about an adaptive fuel trim via a wide band then they should only be set to work at a steady state condition. If they are working all the time and you have lean tip in then the lean spike will send your base fuel table rich eventually. You need to get the AE working properly to fill your lean hole, as that's what it sounds like. This wont really work properly unless you have got the base fuel right anyway as its based on a multiplier of the base table. Well usually anyway, I've not looked at the Emerald stuff as I've only worked on OE ECU's but I cant imagine its much different. You could have a look and whack a load of fuel in on a tip in to see if that helps.
  8. I think the original loom was a Rover 25 one taken from the donor engine. If it was converted to MBE then I guess it was fairly heavily modified, if running the MEMS1.9 or 2J less so. JUst extensions to get things connected.
  9. Just Ford numbers, they are standard Duratec cams. RF1S7E-6A272BG will be the Ford part number for a 2011 Ford Focus 2.0l if you put it in Google.
  10. I've got a combination reverse and fog strip light under the car which is fairly neat and unobtrusive. As said before you need no plate light anyway so a slim fog and the caterham no plate and reverse combo would be good
  11. If you have to pass an iva then it's to today's standards apart from the emissions which is done to the age of engine with proof. As it's a pre registered car of more than 10 years old then once all the nova paperwork is done, shouldn't be any taxes as it's your own vehicle moving with you I assume, you just need an mot and send off for registration. You must have the registration docs from the country it was in before though to do this. I have done this with an imported vehicle myself and didn't need anything more. Look it up on the dvla site for registrations and vehicle approvals. I just followed the instructions and paperwork and it was easy enough.
  12. Eu2 standard engine is mems 1.9, single black socket. The eu2 vvc is mems 2j. Same plugs but 2 of them, one red and one black. Mems 3 completely different plugs and design
  13. The lotus ecu drives the dash via can. The sensors if no longer connected to the lotus ecu will not give it anything to work with. The mil will be on as the ecu isn't seeing the sensors any longer. Your people need to leave the ecu connected as is and fit new sensors for the new ecu.
  14. As far as I'm aware the emerald will plug in where the mems 1.9 was and work with no changes. It's actually harder to fit it when it's a mems 3 setup as it's then not plug compatible.
  15. #7 except that no UK Caterham has a euro emissions pass, eu4 or anything. They appear to have taken the age of registration in these cases and just let them through, for the time being. Probably just too hard to work it out for the civil servants in charge of it all
  16. #9 no it doesn't work like that. The advances have been about emissions and control of things, spark and fuel if sent to the correct hole will only make as power as the engine can. Changes in the engine mechanical spec will give you more power and torque. The head, cams and then calibration to suit will give you more. The oe cal will be safe for the life of the engine and keep exhaust temperatures under control. The little extra the aftermarket find are by going beyond these safe limits but generally you'll find the odd percent here and there as it's tuned to the particular engine.
  17. There's nothing to be had just fitting an ecu. They are selling something so obviously they have to say it makes a bit more power. You will need to fit all the eu3 stuff to make it work and I wouldn't think it worthwhile. The vvc head, cams etc make fitting a programmable unit worth doing. I wouldn't run it on a standard ecu personally
  18. Kmaps ecu mods are for the eu3 unit, different wiring and plug top coils. You'd be better off getting an aftermarket ecu and going that way.
  19. I plan to give this company a look for when/if I finish my Elan. Not sure what they are like but significantly cheaper than the xas Michelins. Blockley Tyres
  20. 1/8" bsp I think for the dash sender.
  21. They are straightforward enough to fit but depends on how mechanically minded you are and they will require a bit of set up and then the fuel and spark calibration done
  22. Generally all the brake fittings on a caterham are 3/8" unf except the sierra calipers that have m10x1 fittings.
  23. Titan is most likely. They produce the majority of the unique caterham castings
  24. The ECU in question is a Lotus T6 ecu. The pin out is similar but slightly different to a Lotus Evora. There wont be anyone who has bothered to hack the unique Caterham code in this unit I am fairly sure. The dash will stop working as the ecu drives the dials via CAN and they suit the ecu's CAN database not a general one. Best bet is to do one of the following; Cut off the plugs and fit your own plugs to what ever ecu you please. Cut up the ecu, or find a scrap one, remove the header connector and make an adapter loom to your choice of ecu. Get a plug compatible EFI Euro8 ecu but you will need to re-pin the connectors as it is a slightly different pin out. Contact SCS in the UK who make a plug compatible replacement unit for the Lotus versions and ask them if they will write you some code to run a Ford Duratec in that unit. Remove everything and fit a UK spec cable throttle wiring loom, MBE ecu, cable throttle body and pedal. Probably the easiest route all said.
