Accralite forged pistons/rings and Maxspeeding rods with ARP 2000 bolts. Light road use approx. 2,000 miles. Some slight scratches around gudgeon pin access where the clips are located, but all machined faces are unmarked. Flat topped so I believe they are 11:1 compression ratio. Being forged there is extra clearance for expansion and they rattle slightly until warmed up. Used in a 1.8K, but I think they can also be used in 1.6. £325.00 + p&p.

Not sure if this helps, but I have seen SAWSTUNING website stating that they can tune the 'locked' MEMS 1.9 and 2J.

Is your engine fitted with the standard flywheel? I changed mine to a steel TTV lightweight one and it now makes the sound you describe when the starter is engaged. Plus an awful rasping noise on the overrun in the lower gears. Possibly something to do with the resonance of the different material... Not one of my better 'upgrades'.

So far we have had Blue, 'Grays' and Deep Purple. Almost a Rainbow... (I get 'rubbish' jokes)

I had a very similar issue on a tyre of roughly the same age. It turned out to be a bulge in the tread area, which was either delamination or damage to the carcass. The faster you went the bigger the bulge and the worse it got. Very quickly replaced!

2.98 ratio 1st gear conversion kit for standard 1.6 and 2.0 Sierra Type 9 gearboxes. You can interchange this set with any standard 18 tooth long, short or medium length input shaft, but not the 2.8 19 tooth shaft from the Cologne V6 engine. Use your own standard 2nd, 3rd and 4th gears. This version also uses the standard laygear needle roller setup. Will not fit standard V6 box fitted to later Caterhams.
