Tyres have decent tread, 6+mm on all. De dion fitment. collection from Wokingham £200. pictures here

  5. first time out for me since 2010, and different car... looks like a top 4 finish in class 1 is on the cards does being top of the list mean I`ll be first out? Andy #510
  6. Well quick update. I wiggled the wire and it's working again... How long will it last? But other jobs on the car to crack on with...
  7. what tyre are you currently running? I had a 1600VX which came with its Avon CR322's (original from its Scholarship days, when the Academy was called that), these were 10 years old and gave little grip. I swapped for A539's after doing one sprint in the CR322's, and the A539's were a big improvement. I`ve now got a 1.6 Sigma, ex-Academy, which came again with CR322's, and I swapped for some secondhand A539's, again big step forwards in grip... I`ve also now got a set of Avon CR500's, which are another step forwards in grip from the A539's. I was told once that with the Morris Ital Live Axle (I assume this is your spec, as was my 1600VX) you dont want more grip that the A539's, as the axle isnt that strong (more grip = more strain on the axle)
  8. i was hoping to keep the cycle wing repeaters. in my old car my helpful MOT tester (as failed on this) put a earth wire direct to battery, which got it thought MOT and i left on. ideally dont want to do this again... was hoping to clean up the contact of earth wire to wing stay, but dont want do have to do this monthly!
  9. my indicator repeater on the cycle wing has been playing up. it stopped working a few weeks ago, i took it all apart cleaned up and it worked. I`ve had issues with the earth for this on a previous car ... and now not its stopped working again. any top tips on getting a consistent earth?
  10. Simon - thanks! i think i just found it in the Blue Book... Tech Regs for Sprint/Hillclimb/Speed 10.3.5. Engine Oil Systems – Unless equipped with a closed loop system, a Catch tank of at least a one litre capacity to be incorporated in the oil breather system.
  11. I`ve got a 2009 Academy Sigma, untouched since the Academy and looking to do some club sprints this year in class 1. the car doesn't have a oil catch tank/breather (oil breather feeds throttle body). Is a catch tank required? Cheers, Andy
  12. Over 6 months of fun into ownership, and no major drama's! Loved going aero, but back to screen for the winter, I miss the aero experience already (will this be the last change back?). Clear aero definitely an advantage with lowered floors and tillets, and avoided putting a central mirror which means no obstructions forward visibility (but limited rear visibility!). Enjoyed getting out on a couple L7C ReHaB blats, though wasnt quite prepared for some of the roads (single track, grass and gravel, surely not made for a Seven!). First ended up being a 140mile round trip monster, 2nd was shorter but resulted in failed brake light switch and rattle from the exhaust. Also put in an appearance with local classic car club showing cars at the Wokingham Heritage day! Having now swapped back to the 8-spoke wheels, now fitted with CR500's, and I understand what all the fuss is about, its a great tyre, good feel, good grip, but noticing the lower gearing from the 55-profile. Have also purchased a cheap action cam (SJCAM SJ4000) and spent sometime playing with various mounts and positions - YouTube. in months 4 to 7 trips out - 19 miles - 500 jobs - speedo calibration (trial and error) for Yoko A539 and Avon CR500's Spa Mirrors, ounted with P-Clips fitted aero screen (and swapped back for winter) fixed brake light swtich removed exhaust heat shields, one failed jubilee clippurchases - Spa Mirrors - ebay Softbits shower cap cheapo action cam! break light switch
