    Ribblehead

Black, parked up outside the Station Inn at Ribblehead this afternoon. Blatted past in my own 7 but was following a bike so couldn't stop to get more details. __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. Updated photos!
  2. Yellow with black-pack heading up the M5 North of Worcester about 12:00 today. I was in the tin-top heading South so just caught a glimpse. __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. Updated photos!
  3. SM25T, those look great. Do they give a better field of view than the Caterham flat door mirrors? Mine are currently festooned with wide angle attachments to get a better view, it makes it look like I've been towing a caravan! __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. 4. Hi Ed, On the new Sigmas it's not a reed switch, it's a (very expensive) semiconductor magnetic sensor, it probably does matter which way round you connect it... On my car it's wired as follows: Chassis side ------- Sensor side Green -------------- Brown Yellow & Black --- Black Black --------------- Blue I've taken a picture and added it my build diary for your reference, of course you have to assume that your wires are the same colours! My speed sensor connection Hope this helps, Rob __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. Updated photos! Edit to get the table to line up better. 5. Have to say ... mine is fine. Reads full when full, and empty when empty with a linear scale in between, although I've found out the hard way that 'R' means 'Run Out' and not 'Reserve' as I had assumed 😳 It was originally off when built but has been fine since fixed by Caterham Midlands at PBC. I'd be happy to take some multimeter readings for reference if that would help?
  6. black powder coated on my new build this year, plus carpet over the top! __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. Updated photos!
  7. Hmm. Are there any spaces left at Rockingham? How suitable would this track be for a first trackday in a modestly powered (Sigma 150) 7? I wonder if Rockingham is best left to faster cars what with the high speed banking? Building - tick. Blatting - tick. Alpine passes - tick. Trackday - ah, yes. __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. Updated photos!

  11. A great day out spectating for my father and I too, thanks . How many 82 year olds can hop into a 7? When we got home he fished out a couple of books he'd been given in 1938 about motor racing, covering Shelsley Walsh and the legendary Raymond Mays. A few pictures on my web site. __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. Updated photos!
  12. Re. 1: I certainly had to bend my accelerator stem quite a long way when I installed mine. It might be worth sitting in the car and getting the position right because I need to make a further adjustment some time to make heel-and-toe easier which will involve moving the pedal or bending the other end. and 2: IIRC it is slow flashing = armed, rapid flashing = ignition on, waiting to recognise fob, off = disarmed, ready to start engine. I think that's right. __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. Updated photos! Edited by - BadBob on 7 Jul 2008 13:37:17
  13. Build all done and dusted thanks, and out and about scaring myself on the twisty bits. Great to see people like Mr Milton showing how it should be done by getting out there on the track; hats off to the Academists Keep an eye on the build cam site if you are interested, I'll keep adding stuff to it bit by bit. __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. 14. That would be Neil Milton's Academy car, seen here in action at Harewood a couple of weeks ago... Picture __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. Updated photos!
  15. Prisoner colours with clams making cracking progress South on the A65 this afternoon. Was that you Russ? Looked to be going pretty well! __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. Updated photos!
  16. If any sandal wearing beardy asks you just lie, "this car does over 65MPG you know*, and it's made out of aluminium so it will last for 50 years and still be recyclable". Don't feel guilty, they're lying to you all the time. (*Downhill with the engine turned off.) __________________________ See my Build Cam to check on my Roadsport Sigma. Updated photos!
  17. As I've posted previously, SVA for me at Nottingham was a breeze, Caterham had done a few minor tweaks that were not in the build manual at the post build checks, but nothing as drastic as replacing switches or hand-brake buttons. Most of the SVA mods are still on my car, perfectly unobtrusive (apart from obvious things like mirrors and bonnet catch covers). You can also drive to and from an SVA so I got it half way run-in on the way home. Licensing was a different story and I had to suffer 6 weeks with a perfectly roadworthy car in my garage while Leeds DVLA messed me about. Do your own SVA and spend the money saved on your first upgrade, start as you mean to go on __________________________ See my Build Cam for progress on the Roadsport Sigma build. Now with photos!

    No-one anywhere

I blatted from Leeds to Durham and back, it was damp (which was interesting) and drizzling but I had loads of fun. Didn't see any Sevens but an Aston convertible gave me a huge blast of revs as it passed while I was filling up. Nice one.
  20. When I fitted mine I drilled carefully through the mid-line of the metal strip and left it in place, passing the bolts for the 4 point harness through. I'm trusting that this does not compromise the strength of the harness bolts - it got through PBC and SVA like this. One alternative that was suggested (here) at the time was to slit the underside of the cover at the point the harness bolt would pass through, fold the metal strip in two and remove it through that which might be neater than unpicking the end seam and re-stitching it. __________________________ See my Build Cam for progress on the Roadsport Sigma build. 21. While heading North from Evesham in my tin-top spotted 2 on the A429: Red waiting in a lay-by heading South, and a little later yellow with black nose band on a trailer, also heading South. Splendid day for it! __________________________ See my Build Cam for progress on the Roadsport Sigma build. Now with photos!
  22. Yellow on a 'Q' plate in Calverley West Yorkshire on Wednesday evening. Only half a mile from my house, but sadly I was in my tin-top. __________________________ See my Build Cam for progress on the Roadsport Sigma build. Now with photos!

    slow puncture.

I once had this on my motorbike and it eventually turned out to be slight corrosion around the base of the valve. Finally spotted by a switched-on tyre fitter and a clean up and new valve stopped the problem. I assume you've already tried the trick of a dab of saliva in the end of the valve to spot any leakage there? See my Build Cam for progress on the Roadsport Sigma build. Now with photos!
