  1. Sorry for the delayed response, the trailer has now been sold.
  2. Andrew, I have a set of SLR rims fitted with brand new ACB10s medium compound (30/31s) Two wheels are 4 months old, two are 9 months old (met the armco at the 'Ring - don't ask !!) Would you be interested in them with the tyres ?
  3. I have a one year old Brian James Minno trailer for sale, details below... Purched August 2000 Wheel Rack Spare wheel Heay duty ratchet straps Manual winch Yellow bar security wheel lock Asking £1400.00

  5. I like the idea of replacing my existing wing bolts with the nylon ones. Does anyone know if I can buy them from Halfords - or an online supplier or someone who does mailorder ? Also - do you still need to partly cut through the bolts to make them weak enough so they will definatley pop before the wing ? Thanks ! Paul R500 SPL

    100mph plus

Managed a couple of 137 mph stints in my R500 using GPS for actual speed, speedo was showing 143
  7. I've replaces 3 on my de-dion car within 12'000 miles they don't like getting oil on them
  8. I need the middle black bit from a rear SLR rim as I've managed to mess up mine due to a loose wheel on a track day, so any bent SLR rim should do !!
  9. My original lightweight starter on the R500 lasted about 3 months before it was replaced with another lightweight one - this lasted another 3 months before aheavier and more robust version was fitted. This lasted about 6 months but had to be replaced again. The fourth one, has started to perform the 'click' but no start after 2 months - simple enough thing to get right you might have thought... As for the part, I believe the new one is from the F3000s. Peter - I might be in the market for another new starter motor !
  10. Simon Lambert at Caterham aftersales showed me a car that had been armofended - it was a very good job and only really noticable when you looked for it and then you could just about see the line where the armofend stopped. Caterham are offering this service (I'll be having it done once I get my rear wings painted - again). At the moment armofend come and do it, but the Caterham guys are going to be trained in fitting it. I've tried fitting it myself - once. Not easy getting a flat piece of plastic to shape around a wing. Paul R500 SPL

    Bag Tank

Still looking Arnie ? I've got a 27 litre bag tank
  12. Don't know how much the Demon Tweeks one is, but I bought one from Jessops... www.Jessops.com Manfrotto Super Clamp £23.95 plus a Manfrotto Quick Release Adapter Plate at £23.95 for the fastening for the camera. Amazingly stable - same type as used to video Richard Ince around the 'Ring in April. Hope this helps

    R500 wheel nuts.

I find that the nuts are pretty crap. I have the set of R500 wheels that came with the car, and then a set of SLR rims with slicks. The SLR rims always go on very easily, but the R500 nuts are a real pig to get on. I've got plenty of the R500 nuts as they are very easy to make a mess of. Copper grease makes things a bit easier too.

  16. Have you thought about the Avon CR500s
  17. The magical 'Manfrotto Super Clamp' is the device holding the camera in place whilst Richard Ince was recording his recent laps around the Ring. I've also used it on many track and road sessions - highly recommended.
  18. I calibrated the Stack system in my car using a GPS - very accurate and simple enough... 1. Find a motorway. 2. Get upto, say 50mph according to the GPS and keep at that speed. 3. Calibrate the cycle computers wheel size until it's showing the same speed as the GPS. It's easier with a friend doing the calibrating, and you doing the driving !!
  19. Rob, Who did you speak to at Caterham ? I only ask because I'm under the impression that my R500 (one of the earlier ones) has an 88 degree thermostat, which is why I thought it strange the fan is now programmed to come on at 75 degrees (and just cool the water in the radiator as the thermostat would be closed). Also my car will continue rising it's water temp when on idle, from 80 degree well past 100 degrees - I turn it off at this point. Would I be better off fitting a bigger fan or a bigger radiator first ?
  20. My R500 is now running with a mod which turns the fan on at 75 degrees via the ECU - although I'm sure that the thermostat is still the standard 88 degrees one which doesn't make much sence to me !!
  21. Cheers, I'll get the wheel bearings checked as well. Took a list of parts as long as my arm on the trip - didn't think about a bush for the de-dion !! - I'll add it to the list for next year.
  22. The background.... I've just returned from a 2500 blast around europe. One afternoon I thought I'd give my car a blast - for the 1st time without any luggage in. Once warmed up I entered a corner pretty quickly and exited it far more sideways than I expected !! Stopped and had a quick look around and noticed that one of the nylon washers ? on the right hand side of where the de-dion joins the A-frame (19mm bolt) was split and hanging off. I went back to the hotel and had a mate shake the car left to right whilst looking at the afore mentioned de-dion point and saw plenty of play - as well as the rear tyres looking pretty low - but not to the wear lines. Checked the nut which wasn't completley tight, and tightened it up very tight. Went and drove the car and had the same sideways moments - as if driving the car on ice. Spoke to Clive at Aryliam - thanks Clive, who suggested the rear rubber bush has started to break down, which makes sense as the nut and bolt was completley tight but still plenty of play. Once the car was full of luggage the rear movement wasn't as noticable unless pushed really hard - made going over snow covered alps pretty interesting ! The car has covered 11'050 miles, of which 4050 miles are on the new de-dion tube, around 750 were on track (Brands, Cadwell and Nurburgring) all on Slicks, the rest are on the road with CR500 tyres. The Question.... How long would people expect the rear de-dion last given the above conditions... ? Edited by - pfreeman on 4 Jun 2001 12:10:32
  23. Sorry to hear about your engine Peter. Excuse my ignorance, but are the "upgraded Vandervell VP2 big end shells" the same ones as they now fit into the R500 ? Also, you mentioned in a previous posting that there may be some kind of sender that can be fitted to check tension on the oil belt so as to have an early warning before you notice the oil pressure has gone and all is too late - can you elaborate ?
  24. Don't really have room for a spare tyre, unless it can fit under the tonneau in the passenger footwell (haven't tried) - besides should I go for a spare front or rear ?!
