  1. Hi Mike Whats the detail on the CF rear wings? Make, condition, pics etc? Thanks Nick
  2. Thanks Paul - it's not ultra urgent, but when you get the chance... 🙂
  3. Hi Richard Have emailed you. Thanks Nick
  4. Hi Stu - no it's not damaged, I just fancy a bare carbon nose. I've been tempted to have a go at stripping my existing carbon nose myself, but afraid of b*ggering it up and being left with a big bill to repaint or replace etc! Hoping someone might have one out there somewhere that they no longer need... I don't mind a tatty one as it could be a nice little project.
  5. Jason - just thought... I've read that the silencer you have is actually quite efficient and definitely worth keeping. It's the exhaust manifold that is the problem (you probably already know this), so if you could find a company that that can make up a manifold that can they match your silencer, it might save you a few ££££££. Also your existing exhaust is really easy to remove and give to said exhaust fab.company to match a new manifold.
  6. Yes, that would make sense and is at least worthy of a try before full removal! Thanks
  7. Good advice - thanks JK. I've been advised that if it's the drive that's the problem, it's an engine/gearbox out job - is that the case? Really hoping not, having been through this earlier this year!
  8. On my way to the mapping company a few weeks ago the speedo gave a few wobbly readings and then promptly died on me! Miles driven no longer increase either. Car is a 2000 SLR with a mechanical speedo drive off the gearbox. What should I be checking and in what order? I've got a few ideas of my own, but wanted to get some thoughts from here! Thanks Nick
  9. Ideally genuine Caterham carbon nosecone to fit a k series. Not bothered by colour or scratches etc as long as not damaged. Thanks Nick
  10. Beagler - no worries, glad it has been of interest! Perhaps I provide a brief write up of my mapping experience next month...
  11. Just to add to this, my mapping company said that if my car is mapped on 99, it is OK to use 95 occasionally as long as full throttle is not used for a long period. Given my use is on the road only, then that won't be a problem at all.
  12. I've just contacted the RR company with my potential solution and they said it'll work fine, so that's what I'm gonna do!
  13. I have my 7 booked in for a mapping session next month post an engine rebuild at DVA over the Winter. Never done anything like this before, so looking forward to it. However I’m in a bit of a quandary over fuel type… I always try and run my car on Super-unleaded, but am not precious of fuel brand etc. However on occasions, it’s not always possible to get Super-unleaded – the fish n chip run for example, where I might end up with a mixed tank of 95/99 octane. So, what do I fill the car up with for the mapping session? I want the car to run at its best when being fuelled by 99 octane, but also to run safely on 95 when needs be. I’ve spoken to the RR company and they’ve suggested using only 95 for the RR session if I want it to run safely on that fuel. But that is only for a small proportion of the time I drive the car. Another thought I’ve had is to have it mapped on 99, but to carry a bottle of octane booster to use on occasions when I can only put 95 in. Could that be a viable solution? Would welcome others thoughts on this. Thanks!
  14. Lovely looking SLR - good luck with the sale.
  15. Agreeing with TomB - you've already got a pretty efficient system fitted, I'm not sure a change to a 4-2-1 system would make that much of a difference TBH. A decent polish of the exhaust and removal of the tax disc holder (adding lightness!) would make a world of a difference though!
  16. ... my air filter (sausage type - black foam ITG filter) is on the way out again. They never seem to last long, are very fiddly to fit and are very expensive for something that seems to be of poor quality. What other options are there out there? A friend with an SLR sent his to ITG for a rebuild, where it looks as though they rebuild something a bit more substantial, but it's £130+ and is still no easier to fit! I'm sure I've seen some pics of SLRs where an aftermarket TB backplate & orange coloured filter has been fitted that looks more robust and easier to fit/remove etc. Can anyone provide any info please? Thanks Nick
  17. Caterhams are pretty basic cars , so any reputable Inde should be fine with it. My Uncle owns a respected garage in Camborne... 'Glasson's' who are used to working on all types. I'm not on commission!
  18. Thanks all - I'll either get the Rimmer Bros one or call Redline!
  19. Hi again - is there anybody that can confirm this part number or the correct one if it's wrong? It looks correct, but need to be sure! Thanks Nick
  20. Hi all A friend came up this weekend to help me re-install the engine and box into my 7 and brought with him a hard copy of the above publication. I'd not seen one before, but looked very useful and wondered if anyone had a pdf version they'd be happy to share with me (and potentially others)? Thanks Nick
