  1. Here you go Richard: Boot floor (wood) 87.2cm x 20cm Boot floor (alloy sandwich) 102cm x 25.5 (just in case you feel the need) Scuttle height 22.5cm Horizontal panel in front of scuttle 102cm x 25.5 (this was measured from sideskin to sideskin at base of scuttle and from the middle of horizontal panel above gearbox Not sure what you mean by turret?? 2. Otherwise Raceline stock them Dubai Duratec SV
  3. Mine are the same Dubai Duratec SV
  4. Richard I have both Polley and CC supplied KN Minator's in black and polished rims, the lacquer on the rims went after about 1 year, not terrible but definitely not up to your requisite standards of quality. If you go this route, expect to re-finish them in a year or two. I have the CC 8-spokes which are much lighter and much nicer, but also like the like the Compomotive CXR's Dubai Duratec SV

Is there anyone already producing a Engine mounting kit for the Caterham? Raceline and Caterham supply these Gear box - Do I go with a Type 9 Yes, five speed is all you need ECU - Any type I should steer well clear of? Weber Alphaor any other that you cannot get Dyno'd due to lack of software Personally I love my self mapping Emerald, but there are may other fine ECU's such as MBE and Omex As with previous advice, speak to Pete McKewan at Raceline, or better still visit him if you are in the area. Mick and Ammo are also really good resources. Dubai Duratec SV
  6. Thanks Mic, just had a look at the Brise site and it rates it at 40amp for the standard one. Not sure if I can justify the 😳 £425 for the uprated 95 amp version. Dubai Duratec SV Edited by - Dobuy on 22 Jul 2007 20:53:49
  7. This is the 'Brise' alternator I have on my car, didn't realise it only gave 35amps, no wonder the car was struggling to keep charge on the last track evening, with lights, uprated radiator fan, ECU and electric water pump all drawing off. Might need to find a similar more powerful one ☹️ Dubai Duratec SV
  8. Sounds like a good reason to stay naturally aspirated 😬
  9. Oh I have a feeling he knows those numbers off by heart, as it happens it is a mate of mines head that Oily has just assembled that I will be doing carrier pigeon duties on. Dubai Duratec SV
  10. Well I am an untrained monkey and ..... The Duratec is the easiest 4-stroke I have ever worked on, however, all I have done is take them to bits and put them back together, I leave all the clever bits to the trained ones 😬 Dubai Duratec SV
  11. Thanks Oily Dubai Duratec SV
  12. Any idea how heavy a K series head is (kgs, please), including cams, valves and followers. Also how heavy is the standard Caterham alloy inlet manifold for the 1.4, as I am going to bring them back in my luggage and need to make sure the case is under 32kg. Duratec SV, built in Dubai
  13. Yeah, nice line in denial there, should be a politician. Still Timbo, teach you to let someone else build your engines for you, after all a trained monkey could assemble a Duratec 😳 Duratec SV, built in Dubai
  14. Raceline originally sold me one of their alternators when I bought my kit, but as my car was LHD, the slightly larger size of their small alternator fouled the steering rack. They swapped it for a small brise unit which I successfully fitted with one of Mic's mounting kits on the inlet side. I now have it on th exhaust side. So AFAIK the 'standard' Raceline Alternator is not a Brise unit, but they can supply it.
  15. My brise alternator was sourced from Raceline and originally was mounted on the inlet side. However once I had fitted the dry sump it was moved to the exhaust side. Just had to fabricate a mount that worked, which was fairly simple. Duratec SV, built in Dubai
  16. I had this information witten down, don't know how accurate it is, but.. Alternator: Diahatsu 27060-87201 = Lucas LRB343 From Applause 1.6i 93-98, Chararde(III) 1.3i 93-96 & 1.5i 94-96
  17. What alternator is that Dave? Simon, how can you tell yours is on the way out, what are the symptoms? Duratec SV, built in Dubai
  18. Not sure which Brise one I run (would like to know)picture here. As you can see I run it very close to the Exhaust and in very high ambient temperatures, seems to be OK so far...... Is it true these can be replaced by Diahatsu Charade alternators?? Duratec SV, built in Dubai
  19. Yeah that is really quite abysmal, glad you have redeemed yourself AMMO 😬 Duratec SV, built in Dubai
  20. Seems to run OK on a 15 amp fuse, so have put in a 20amp and will give it a try on the track tonight hopefully it will be OK. Guess I had better find a more permanent solution Duratec SV, built in Dubai
  21. I have just installed a Davies Craig EWP80 electric water pump and for ease if wiring, I want to run it off the same 12v feed as the radiator fan. Can I get away with doing this without a relay, the radiator fan is fused by CC at 15 amps, the EWP80 draws 7.5 amps max. Ran it tonight and the they both worked fine, but have a track evening tomorrow and need a logic check. S'pose I could always bung in a 20amp fuse?? Duratec SV, built in Dubai
  22. Hi Oily, thanks for the reply, I may well visit you next week for parts. Out of curiosity, the chap who owns the car is a bit underwhelmed by the 1.4 and would naturally like to upgrade. Do you have any 'good' 1.8's lying around and if so what sort of costs are we talking about. Basically looking for best bang for the buck.
  23. One of the boys out here in Dubai, pinged the valves of his 1.4 K series by changing into the wrong gear. We stripped the head off the engine today and things did not look too bad, no obvious damage, however the compression on 2 of the cylinders was 70psi as opposed to the other 2 cylinders which where about about 170psi. There is light marking on the pistons from where all the exhaust valves have touched, however there is no visible damage to the valves. Obviously the over revving has damaged the exhaust valves slightly on 2 cylinders, so here are the questions: 1: What needs to be changed, ex-valves, guides, ??? 2: Is there likely to be any damage to the rods from the over-rev? 3: Is there any good sources for guides, valves, stretch bolts etc that would deliver to Dubai. 4: I am in Birmingham next week, are there any places there I could pick up parts? Any other suggestions or comments would be appreciated Duratec SV, built in Dubai
  24. Thanks for that, got a couple of versions now, all look good Duratec SV, built in Dubai
  25. One of the lads out here in Dubai has just lunched his 1.4 K-series engine and looks like a rebuild is needed. As we don't have access to Haynes manuals out here, does anyone have a pdf of the engine manual they could email me. Or if someone has written an idiots guide to rebuilding a K-Series, then that might suffice. If only he had a Duratec....... Duratec SV, built in Dubai
