  1. (Max RPMx60/(total inches in 1 mile/PixDiameter of wheel & Tyre)x(diff ratioxgear ratio) I came out with the following at 7000rpm using 13" wheels shod with 205/60-R13 and a 4.4:1 Diff and gear box ratio's of 2.92 (1st), 1.86(2nd), 1.295(3rd), 1(4th) and 0.83(5th) 1st = 37 mph 2nd = 58 mph 3rd = 83 mph 4th = 107 mph 5th = 129 mph I think I am correct based on similar figures from Malcom. Duratec Fitting

Doug, Have you got a pictures of the Rose jointed A frame set up, I have lost count how many bushes I have changed in the past, and that was with a Crossflow that was pretty dry and not dropping oil (yes they do exist - honest), the rose joint seems like a good solution. I was also thinking of rose jointing the trailing arms, but have been advised in the past of not doing this as the ride would apparently be really harsh of course all 7 drivers have comfort at the top of their list 😬 😬 😬 😬 Whose the best person to talk to at Raceline? Also the Qaiffe is an ATB if I have got my facts right, what is the concensus of opinion on an LSD against ATB's 🤔 Thanks guys for all the responses

    Duratec Fitting

Cheers All, Peterg , yes I realise that the exit is opposite, chassis is going back to Bruce for a complete overhaul and reskin, i.e. updated front suspension mountings to allow to go to the double wishbone, as I want to wide track anyway, and any other tube work that needs sorting. Se7en up, cheers will give Bruce and Aaron a call and see what seems best for the car. I wonder if Rally Design still do the brackets for disk conversion??? Will give them a call, although the sierra rear calipers seem heavy, would like to go for Alcon 4 pots, but beggers cant be choosers. Ammo, will give you a call when you are back, I am away in Asia at the moment, so spending time getting the spec right. Thanks all, maybe a quality car in the making here............ 😳 😳 😳 😳

    Duratec Fitting

Guess on the axle, the English is about as good as I can get, certainly it will take a damn sight more power than the Ital axle would...... Not sure if fitting the LSD will improve the power handling in an English, but i guess other options are limited.
  5. Need some help guys on the way forward with a Live axle rebuild. So thoughts are that due to the crossflow being defunct, I have a couple of options either a Zetec or Duratec. Personally I would prefer a Duratec (Rally Design have a good offer on ), but I need to get a bit of info on other parts to change. So far I have come up with the following questions :- Engine mounting - Is there anyone already producing a Engine mounting kit for the Caterham? Gear box - Do I go with a Type 9 with long first, or go with the Caterham 6 speed. I think the type 9 will be OK as the Duratec is maybe better suited to it. Axle - Already got a English axle that needs converting to a Live axle fixing - am i right in thinking Bruce at Arch is the man for that? Also an LSD is on the wish list, and a disk brake conversion. Is this Road & Race territory? Will this axle take 200 bhp ?????? ECU - The offer from Rally Design is including a programmabe non ford unit. No idea which though. Any type I should steer well clear of? I think that will start me off, no doubt will have a hole heap of questions as the project takes shape, but will certainly appreciate any thoughts. I hope Brent and Ammo will impart a few words of wisdom here Cheers Edited by - jav395 on 23 Jul 2007 09:46:08
