  1. I have a tall cage on my 2000 car, and so went to Jill Judd of SoftBits for Sevens fame and got a hood made to fit as car didn't come with wet weather gear, with hood specially made it fits fine. no hood sticks required.
  2. went the extra mile and parked up by the side of the M5 for half an hour on my way to Birmingham to increase my chances of being spotted (actually ran out of fuel..) and let thousands of vehicles pass me by and still not spotted !!! It's like I'm invisible...
  3. It nearly counts i reckon... drove all the way to York via the M1 etc today to try and vary my chances of getting spotted, saw no other sevens, had too much fun at greasy roundabouts and yet still not visible enough....!! the planned drive-by it will have to be, I think 2009 might be my year for getting spotted?? 4. maybe I'm just travelling too quickly? I'll try slowing down and see if that improves my luck?
  5. Born from the experience of having owned my 7 for over three years, used it virtually everyday to and from work but also to and from Oxfordshire to Kent and not been spotted as far as i can tell, with worrying levels of inspecting the spotted threads hoping someone would have caught a glimpse of me.... to no avail....So how about an alternative, where by all those who want to participate enter the colour, and reg of their seven to a datbase held by the administrator, and then as your seven is spotted you are effectively eliminated from the "game", it would require honesty from those offering to participate, regarding how infrequently they realistically take their 7 on the road, those who only use a few times a year maybe should not enter, maybe Caterham could be roped in to offer some "wooden spoon" type prize for the last 7 to be spotted?? just an idea to counter my growing frustration at not ever being spotted... having posted this I'm hoping it will lead to fate ironically causing me to be spotted tomorrow??? cheers Matt W
  6. you could just cable tie any standard mirror to the cage, as i have done, with heavy duty cable ties there is no vibration issue, whats more it is easily adjusted (or knocked by tall people getting in and out!!) should you need to change it's position if you pile stuff up in your passenger seat as i sometimes do..
  7. the leak is on the flat rear facing panel, just a crack rather than split or dent? any advice appreciated.
  8. having made the time, it onlt took an ONE HOUR... these sevens sure are fiddly things, as ever it wasn't a single problem but rather two happening at the same inconvienent time, those being poor electrical connections at back of switch (an absolute pig to get at and get out and remember which way round the connections were connected up, added to by one of the retaining clips of switch itself being bent back stopping switch popping out at all, that didn't take long to figure out!!!) and that there was some blockage in both jets too, (that was also a pig to get at and get out). for my next seven i want one where the dash flips out, possibly hinged, to make all such future jobs easy and accessible... thanks for all the advice, problem now rectified.
  9. when i owned my 1.6 mx5 i used a chap who worked from home, an ex-mazda mechanic who at the time (4 years ago now) worked daily for another marque but evenings and weekends had his own thing going on, advertised himself as "mazda man" and regardless of whether you sent him any work i expect that he may be able to answer some of your basic questions. email me at mattjamesw@hotmail.com if you'd like his number, he was living in Oxford.
  10. absolutely no help from me on the six front but very grateful for the advice on the washer bottle, will work my way through them, i had checked i had water and ensured electrics were connected but light was fading so will check the other points when i get the chance. cheers M25 traveller.
  11. sad i know, managed a feeble squirt a week or so ago but since won't let anything out. lost the lid a month or so ago if that affects anything? had a needle in at jet end to ensure they aren't blocked but not having any joy as yet..any ideas welcomed as winter approachers and visibility more of an issue.
