  1. It will be interesting to see how this works. It seems like a mini trackday practice session with 15-20 cars on track at one time and overtaking allowed. Not sure of the insurance implications. I assume the practice sessions apply to everyone including the British Sprint Championship competitors.
  2. Great pictures Dave, thanks for posting.
  3. Short update for anyone finding this thread in future. The new cam followers are from a MG/Rover OEM supplier. I have been advised that ....."'The length of the tappet itself isn't too important - it's the small piston you can see when looking at it upside down that controls the valve actuation. The part below this is just a 'skirt' to keep it central in the channel, so isn't critical - the original tappets were superseded by these parts a few years back with the new skirt length. The tappet piston to cam lobe length is the important bit - and this is identical to the originals."
  4. I am rebuilding a 1.8 k series engine and have two sets of tappets/ cam followers A well used set which are 26mm deep and a new set which are 24mm deep. Can anyone explain the difference in size and is it ok to use the new shorter tappets ? I am also fitting new cams.
  5. Thanks for all your replies, I've got a few to look at now and have a play with.
  6. I am looking to move from std 5 speed to std 6 speed gearbox with a 3.9 diff and would like to know how this translates to speed in each gear. i have looked in the archives and older links no longer work on the threads i was looking at. Please can someone point me in the right directtion of a basic gear calculator for a caterham or tables of information that will give me the gear speeds ? Thanks
  7. Thanks Simon, likewise enjoyed watching your run, its good to see runs from different power and tyre combinations.
  8. Here is my run from Saturday, just a smidge slower than Simon's ! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QaUlX_k29RQ
  9. Hi Steve I started competing as a novice in 2014 and this is my fourth year in L7C Class 1. I have also competed in a handful of local events in Class 2A, which is for road going kit cars up to 1700cc. As i only have 125 bhp and Class 1a tyres it has been for fun only as Class 2A allows significantly more powerful cars with sticky tyres. I personally prefer L7C events as both bhp and tyres are regulated in the L7C championship so cars are very close in performance which makes for close competition making you focus on your driving. 10. Looking for a Caterham oil pick up pipe for a k series engine. Please mail me if you have one you would like to sell.
  11. According to the Regs, Entry list closes 14 days before event. I assume this would be sooner if they reach maximum entry before then.
  12. Hi Andy, Some good advice above. I can't comment on Sigma cars because i havent driven one. Spec wise, i have competed for the last 3 years in an ex Academy K series with widetrack, LSD, rear ARB and red front ARB. Seat time as has been highlighted is important and Paul, me, Richard and John who were quicker than you will probably compete in 7 events per year. Curborough is pretty technical and the 1.5/2 seconds you mention is possibly a little bit everywhere. A Curborough practice day could be beneficial in finding time and you may also get the opportunity to have a passenger ride with a more experienced competitor. There is also the marshalls sprints on the Saturday before the Club event on the Sunday which can help. Driver training and being pushed out of your comfort zone is very useful. At an event, some competitors find video analysis helpful. If you want to try other venues then you could look at some of the HillClimb schools like Loton Park and Harewood to help learn the tracks and see if you like them before entering or there is the Club track day at Anglesey on the Friday before the Club sprints on the Saturday/Sunday. 17. I am looking to buy replacement rear brake calipers. 2007 Caterham S3 1.6k I have read previous threads but links are no longer working and understand the calipers are standard Ford sierra not XR4i version. Please can anyone confirm that these are the correct ones and also the best place to buy them ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ford-Sierra-1-8-rear-brake-calipers-plus-slider-brackets-plus-Slider-Bolts-NEW-/281777399138?fits=Model%3ASierra%7CCars+Type%3A1.8&hash=item419b3de562:g:eskAAOSw3ydV1F8V thank you
