  1. PA66-GF30 is the material spec. PA66 is PolyAmide66 (aka nylon 66), GF30 is 30% Glass Filled.
  2. You were driving towards Leamington/Warwick, I was heading into Kenilworth in a grey Golf. Great day for an outing.
  3. Heading south on the Fosse Way, approaching the first mini roundabout. Metallic blue (??), red 7 on grille, driver wearing a crash helmet. I was in a grey Golf heading north having visited a national collection of Bliss Irises near Cirencester.
  4. Paypal payment received - many thanks. Also, the PCR donation will be greatly appreciated. I too worked a summer during the school holidays at UB, it put me off working in a factory, but I still eat biscuits. Small world. If you fancy racing then do it!! No ifs or buts. I found it a fantastic experience. It's a shame you're not in the UK, I'd be signing you up for the Grads immediately. One of the many great things about the Grads is the level playing field. The spec of the cars is tightly controlled (sealed engines, control tyres/brakes, etc) to stop anyone with loads of money from buying an advantage. The rules are strictly enforced, the series has its own scrutineer (who can spot a transgression at 100 metres). There is still lots you can do with suspension set-up to tailor the car to your driving style. Maybe there is a similar, single make, series in Oz? As for driving ability, if you already do track days & teach the police you'd be on pole first time out! Best regards, Mark.
  5. I went to school in Ashby-de-la-Zouch (lived near Coalville), there were lots of pupils from Burton direction (Swadlincote, Woodville, Moira, etc). My first 7 was a genuine Lotus series 3, bought in my final year at uni. I needed to borrow some money to complete the deal so I went to the bank manager & he said yes! It cost £300. I put it on the road after my finals, had a fantastic summer & then sold it Adrian Reynard for £400. I thought I'd done really well..... If only I'd had the space/money/foresight to store it. I returned to the fold in 2000 & have since done 6 seasons racing with the Grads - a fantastic experience. I could go on....... Burton is no longer the centre of brewing beer, lots of micro-breweries around these days, fantastic choice & some 'interesting' names. Parcel has been sent, it weighed in at 1.85Kg. The cost was £28.55. I described it as car parts, with a value of £20. I sent it standard delivery, the cheapest option, I hope it arrives safely. Fingers crossed, touch wood, rabbit's foot........ PM sent with my e-mail address
  6. Hello Tim Sorry for the delay, I've had a bit of a re-think. I've not been in touch with my neighbours yet, I assumed carriage to Oz would be very expensive, but looking at the Post Office site it is not too bad. https://www.royalmail.com/sending/international/country-guides/australia The cost seems to vary between £12.95 to £30 ish, for 'international tracked' depending on how the site is navigated (very confusing, typical Post Office!). I think I can just meet the 2 Kg & size constraints, the harness weighs 1.7kg. If my neighbour's daughter is able to take the parcel, there is an added complication of her having to post it on to you at a cost (Sydney to Brisbane). Hence it may be simpler & not much more expensive for me to post it directly to you. Any thoughts? In the meantime I will I will parcel up the harness & tomorrow take it to my local Post Office to see what the very helpful lady says about the cost. Ever thought of moving to Warwickshire....... ;-))
  7. OK, just down the road then..... My neighbours are in Oz at the moment (Sydney), Barbara is Australian. I believe one of their daughters is currently in the UK & will be returning to Oz soon. She may be able to transport it. Let me make some enquiries & I'll report back. Worst case I will post it. No payment required by me, if you'd like to make a donation to the C&L7C charity (Prostate Cancer Research), that would be great. Best regards, Mark
  8. I have a 4-point 'Caterham' harnesss, dated 2007. The good news: It's red & it's free! The bad news: there is extensive rust on the nickel-plated plates, the webbing is good (not frayed) but dirty, lots of red paint missing on the buckle. Where are you? I'm near Warwick.
  9. Use 2 scales for the corner which is approaching/exceeding the scale limit?
  10. 20-21psi. Tyres must be hot, after 2/3 fast laps, straight into the pits & check the pressures immediately.
  11. To my knowledge there are no rules on the use of exclamation marks. The MT may be considering a quota on commas.....
  12. Or as I like to call them - patina.
  13. Spotted yesterday afternoon (28th) on the road between Mickleton & Ilmington. I was driving the bestickered ali/silver/maroon one going in the opposite direction. Lovely day for it.
  14. #3 Excellent post. Clear pix & concise instructions.
  15. I was travelling in the opposite direction in my black Golf.
  16. Have you tried any of the Caterham race teams? They may have one which is surplus to requirements.

    O/T Spot

Ooooops...... Sorry Phil, beauty is the eye of the beholder, as they say. I'm not a fan of most modern automotive design; the aggressive stance, the up-scaling, the 'mine's bigger than your's' attitude. I love the original Elan, so modest, simple, but elegant. It just looks right, just as fresh today as when it was first launched. An added bonus was the way they used existing 'parts bin' bumpers so seamlessly. Sadly I've never owned one. is it robins or baubles this year........?

    O/T Spot

What a beautiful piece of design, unlike the pug-ugly monstrosity behind it.
  19. Excellent, but I think we need another column showing cost.
  20. Way back in 2005 I used J & J Radiators in Coventry to repair a Caterham radiator. A quick Google has confirmed they still exist, but at a different address. Details are: J & J Radiators, 48 Days Lane, Coventry, CV1 5LE. T: 02476 226263 Website: http://j-j.jjradiators.co.uk/home HTH.
  21. I whole-heartedly agree with Blue C7. Mine is an ex-race car & has a battery isolation switch fitted, my Banner battery is over 10 yrs old with no problems. I normally charge it, using an old-fashioned charger, for a couple of hours in the Spring before the first start-up.
