  1. How did you get on with using the live axle half hood on your dedion car? I'm in the reverse position and trying to decide if it will all fit with an original style hood from a de-dion being put on a live axle car (both with FIA roll bars).
  2. Thanks for the replies. Yes I was asking for this reason. My pulley might be slightly smaller than standard (its 120mm/4.7" - or is that near enough to count as 5" ) and I was trying to work out from the replies if I could use it as is, without having to replace it. Until I get it of I can't be sure if its steel or the original item (its been painted), but that's proving problematic as the pulley bolt seems to have been torqued way up. cheers
  3. Mines a Valeo too. I'm not sure how big the Lucas one is so I can't say if it is smaller, but the Valeo is approx 6" from the front of the nut on the pulley to the back if that gives any indication?
  4. For those that have fitted 3d ignition to their crossflow powered cars - what size trigger wheel did you use? I've seen wheels from 4.5" to 5.9" advertised as being suitable. What size did you use? Did you use the standard pulley? What size is the weber alpha wheel ? Thanks for any help.
  5. Hi, do the SPA mirrors have the flat or convex lenses? Thanks Edited by - techbod on 12 Aug 2010 23:45:19

  7. Thanks Neal, Thats exactly what I needed cheers
  8. For a 1989 live axle car with classic type front suspension. Does anyone know the torque settings of the mounting bolts for the shock/damper unit? Thanks Edited by - techbod on 3 Aug 2010 15:16:31
  9. Spotted this advert on ebay here (nothing to do with me): Buy it now price is £690! I'm sure you will have to get rid of some of the parts for a Caterham fit, but you could sell them to recoup some of the cost of the conversion. Now I'm getting tempted....
  10. Ok understood I'll break out the micrometer and make sure. I've got the springs off the platforms but can't find any markings to indicate rate - which is why I ended up trying to calculate it. Thanks all. Edited by - techbod on 16 Jul 2010 20:22:11
  11. Thanks both Thats me sorted out.
  12. *arrowup*Thanks for that. Would that be this lot here?
  13. I'd like to check what spring rates I have fitted on my front suspension,as I reckon I need to replace them. They are from a live axle car fitted with Gaz dampers with adjustable platforms. Fitted when I bought the car so I don't know what they are rated at. Spring dimensions are 8" top to bottom, approx 2.5" coil diameter, wire diameter 3/8" and approx 8 turns that look like they actually do something. Picture here With those stats I believe that gives me a spring rate of around 220? Calculated here. Does that sound like a reasonable rate (mainly road use, A021s 70 section if that matters)? Is there a BC 'recommended' supplier of replacement Gaz springs? thanks
  14. To answer my own question, Caterham parts say: "Unfortunately 31-781-109SP will not fit you do need the VDO Rings." So whatever the differences are the Caerbont rings don't fit VDO gauges - for whatever reason.
  15. ah thanks for that - I didn't even know such a thing existed. As they have a different part number I assume they are different in some way? I don't suppose anyone might know what the differences are? cheers
  16. Blue with carbon wings, reg GX02 ***, parked in A7 at Goodwood on Friday
  17. By any chance has anyone got any new or unused ones of these they don't need? here I've had some on order from Caterham for 2 months and they don't seem to be able to supply them at the moment. Mine have perished and fallen off, and the gauges just flop about... Or does anyone know of an alternative source? (They need to be fairly thin, I got hold of some, but they were about 3mm thick and gauges wouldn't sit properly against the dash) thanks Edited by - techbod on 1 Jul 2010 13:35:49

  21. Hello John, YHM re gearbox mount. Thanks
  22. Just for info. I took the Marina drum up to Canley Classics who are in the main a Triumph parts dealer but do list a few Caterham bits (where Triumph sourced). We went through a fair few drums trying to find a match for the Marina drum. The nearest was I think the Vitesse 2 litre, which matched except for depth where it was just too shallow. They didn't get the 1500 drums out for a direct comparison, but said they where bigger. The chap there said he thought the Marina/Ital half shafts did have a Triumph equivalent and confirmed the diffs did as well.
  23. Green with Yellow stripe travelling up the Kenilworth Road this morning, Coventry bound at about 10:15 am. I did wave from the tintop but I don't think you saw me.
  24. I was wondering the same thing when I looked at the Rimmers site and couldn't work out which drums were supposed to be the equivalent of my ital ones. I think I'll try Canley Classics, as they are local to me. I'll just take the drum up and see if they have something that is the same from their Triumph bits. I do fancy the disc conversion but it looks a trifle expensive at the moment compared to a pair of new drums (assuming I can find them of course)
