  1. Quoting phlea: Quoting Alexander Gurr: Quoting phlea: Not sure what the current spec is so can't really answer, sorry. Pugwash, pics on the way soon... Hi there....by current spec I mean as per the link here Cheers, Alex Ah, no they're the old classic 'minilite' type. Cheers, Phil Thanks anyway Phil.
  2. Quoting phlea: Not sure what the current spec is so can't really answer, sorry. Pugwash, pics on the way soon... Hi there....by current spec I mean as per the link here Cheers, Alex
  3. As per the title, if anyone has a spare set of wheels they are looking to off-load then please do let me know as I am looking to get a spare set for a seasons racing this year. Cheers, Alex
  4. Hi Phil, Are the wheels as per the current spec? If so could I have 2nd dibs on the 6 x 13" set please? If not, I will move on and lurk elsewhere. Cheers, Alex
  5. If someone wants to lend me said car I will give it a crack...not that I pretend to be a good driver mind you 😬
  6. Looking for a pair of lowered front wing stays to fit 13" wheels with CR500 tyres. The old set that went with the CR322's look ridiculous with the lower profile tyres!
  7. Jez...you are absolutely right. Time and poor memory have given me to exaggerate. My best laps were 56.4 seconds. I still think an R500 could go sub 50 seconds!
  8. Saw that one too...was parked up at a Lotus gathering on top of Newlands corner. There was a ruby red HPC there too, but my favourite was a rather lovely S2 Esprit!
  9. I was doing very low 54 second laps in a 125bhp Academy car, so would have thought sub 50 second laps easily done in an R500!
  10. Steve, I know lots of the guys have 2, 3 or even 4 sets ofwheels and tyres, but you honestly dont need to. I had one set for the year and they still have plenty of tread left on them (I think enough for another 2 track days and races in all honesty). Your call obviously, but you really dont need them in my experience Cheers, Alex
  11. Pug7....have a look at my Blog here. I went through the build about 10 months ago, so much of it is still very fresh in my mind. Let me know if I can be of any help at all Cheers, Alex
  12. Hi Alan, £100 to you and £50 to NTL as an opening offer. Cheers, Alex
  13. I am looking for some very well worn CR322's for my dry Academy races this year. If anyone has any they are looking to get rid of then please do let me know
  14. Quoting DJ.: You're right, I just checked my manual and it mentions adding spacer washers only if the A frame isn't centred. I was really surprised, I could have sworn it said to fill out the sapce with washers. I suppose I must have just done that without reading it. They really should get around to completely re-writing the manual. The cynic in me suspects that they don't, because they make so much money correcting things at the post build check. Duncan I don't think it is as bad as that 😬 the manual had a re-write at the end of last year, but think there are probably still a number of areas where things aren't exactly clear. It is a big job, but one worth doing properly I think
  15. I believe the Sigma is considerably lighter, but is a throw away engine, rather than the Duratec which is much more easily modified for those with upgradeitis
  16. I did the same a few months ago. Basically I didn't use enough spacing washers between the chassis and the a-frame (I think it needs 3 on either side) and when torquing the bolts up this caused the frame to crack as it is compressed more than it should be. I was told it was quite a common mistake to make and that will be £50 for a new a-frame thank you very much 😔
  17. Thanks guys The main question when looking at it was to mount on top of the front cage mount, or underneath 🤔 I went for on top in the end and all seems well. Opening the door is now somewhat more of a challenge though 😬
  18. Quoting Eugene: Another for Chris Wheeler - a better chap you'll hard pushed to find! www.7workshop.com This
  19. Hi Chaps, I am busy trying to get the Academy car race prepared and for the life of me can't find any instructions on how to do this....can anyone point me in the right direction, or tell me how? Many thanks, Alex
  20. Quoting Bricol: Have you checked the level of the stuff in there at the moment? Correct oil level changed the 5spd in my westie from awful, gritty, noisy, to smooth, quiet and feeling quite new Bri I filled the box when it went in the car in October, but am not convinced I managed to fill it completely, so asked Caterham to check at the post build check. They said they did this, butnit just doesn't feel right to me, so am going to try again with a different oil to see how it goes
  21. Thanks for the advice guys I am used to Caterham gearboxes, albeit my old car had a 6 speed box and was 10,000 miles old before I got my hands on it. This is a 5 speed and is truly awful from cold...it feels as though it is broken and a few people have already told me to try MTM Redline and it will make a massive difference. Ian, I will be doing this over the next few weeks, so if you are passing Hertford and are happy to lend me an oil transffer pump it would be much appreciated Cheers, Alex
  22. As it says on the tin really! I am not happy with the quality of the gear change at the moment, particularly when the car is cold, so want to drain the current oil and refill with Redline MTM. What is the easiest way to do this? Cheers, Alex
  23. Twas probably me Ali with Green wings and yellow nose. I had been down to Castle Combe for the Academy ARDS day. Were you in the Mazda that flashed away? I couldn't work out whether it was enthusiasm or road rage being demonstrated 😬
  24. Just checked and it looks as though I have used 75W90 GL5. What is the difference between GL4 and GL5 🤔 I will give Caterham a call and see what they recommend, but if there is a problem then it looks as though I will have to drain the box and start again Funnily enough the car ran very well yesterday, with the gearbox feeling much sweeter
