  1. Hi Guys, I am a few days into my new build and am struggling to get the engine and gearbox aligned perfectly. Basically, I get the gearbox centred in the tunnel and the mounting nuts tightened, but when I tighten the engine mounts it pulls the gearbox away from the centreline. I am probably only 2 - 3mm out and am not sure how much of an issue this is. I had three goes at setting it straight, but every time I did the engine mounting bolts up it just pulled away from the centreline. 1 - How much of an issue is this (it isn't fouling anywhere in the transmission tunnel)? 2 - Any idaes on what might be going wrong and how to fix it? Cheers, Alex
  2. Quoting lavena: Here is a photo of them on my build - the covers are in the centre - you need to cut one end off and then you tie-wrap to keep in place (not in the photo). Andy Many thanks Andy. Watch out for many more silly questions 😬
  3. Right chaps...first question. The SVA covers for the steering rack....what do they look like? The only thing I can find that looks remotely correct in my SVA bag are some rubber tubes that taper at one end to a close. They look too big for the and don't look right to me....has anyone got any ideas? Cheers, Alex
  4. A silver Roadsport on the way out of Stevenage towards Hertford on Sunday morning A yellow Roadsport on the way from Welwyn towards Harpenden, just outside the crooked chimney stuck in quite a heavy shower 😳
  5. Well, it was a nice day for it, even if it was a bit cold outside and the car certainly seemed to be getting some admiring glances

Under the Lloyds of London building at lunchtime. Anyone on here?
  7. I was out on the bike for my first ride in 7 weeks and doing a large loop out from Hertford, round the villages to Royston and back. I saw: - 1 going from Hare Street to Braughing - 1 comming into Barkway - 1 going north on the A10 towards Royston (C7 VXL) A lovely day for it gents - I hope you enjoyed your drives now Tuned oVer to the daRk side
  8. You have Blatmail now Tuned oVer to the daRk side
  9. I will do He should also come and say hello if he sees me tinkering with the car or bike out the front of the house (as I seem to spend most of my time doing) 😬 now Tuned oVer to the daRk side
  10. That sounds about right, although the only cars I have ever noticed have been the 7's. I wondered whether it might be a motoring journo or Caterham employee. now Tuned oVer to the daRk side
  11. A couple of times now I have spotted Caterhams at a neighbours place. A few weeks ago there was an 07 anniversary Roadsport and the other day there was a lovely looking 07 R400. Anyone on here 🤔 now Tuned oVer to the daRk side
  12. Canonball Bob/Dazzled - I would very much appreciate one of your spares if they haven't already gone to a good home. Are you happy to let them go for a donation to NTL 🤔
  13. Does anybody have a spare 🤔
  14. Del - what is Zena? If it is a Superlight/R/R300/R400 7 I could be interested. If it is a warrior princess I will definatley be interested 😬
  15. Come on, they aren't that unreliable 😬 Now up on Piston Heads: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/sales/171642.htm Edited by - Alexander Gurr on 15 May 2007 16:02:07
  16. Yeah, I get bored pretty easily. This is the problem. The only car I have ever owned that kept me amused for more than 5 minutes was the 7 - thats why I want another one. Don't get me wrong, the TVR is fantastic and great fun, but just not really my cup of tea 😳
  17. A TVR Griffiths was always a car I had always wanted to try, but now it is time for me to return to the world of 7'ing, so am looking to swap my car, with cash either way, for the right 7. My car is a 1997 TVR Griffiths 500, with the following highlights: - Dark blue - Blue mohair roof - Magnolia & Blue leather interior - Totally standard apart from some Leven aluminium trim accessories - CD player, with 6 disk changer in the boot - 26,500 miles - Full TVR Service History, the last one approximately 1,500 miles ago - Tax'd and MOT'd - Good tyres all around The car was sourced from a known TVR specialist (James Agger) at the end of February. It was in fantastic condition, but had been little used for a number of years and so had a number of niggly issues which needed to be ironed out (these cars don't like not being used). I spent quite some time sorting the little issues out to get it in the perfect condition it is now. After the initial teething troubles and with some proper use the car has performed faultlessly, despite what many people may say about TVR's 😬 It is a fantastic machine with a soundtrack to die for, but is not quite raw enough for my tastes, so I am looking to swap for an appropriately silly 7. Ideally I am looking for a: - Superlight - Superlight R - R300 - R400 I would value the Griff at just under £17k, so would be looking for cash either way depending on the type and condition of the 7. Anyone who is interested please drop me a line and I can send you some photographs. Cheers, Alex
  18. Darren, was it completley dead 🤔 I am not too worried if it is as I should be able to pick up a replacement off e-bay for a few squids, but my concern was more around the backlight remaining on and draining the battery. I am going to take it out at the weekend and check the fuse that goes into the back to see what state it is in. Cheers, Alex
  19. I know, I know 😬 😬 I am not that bothered about not having the radio (I don't really listen to it that much), but am concerned that if I left it with the backlight remaining on it would flatten the battery, no matter how small a charge it draws.
  20. I know this is a little unusual, but thought that the collective power of Blatchat may be able to help me. I was out in the fiesta (1991 model) last night and for some reason the radio (standard Ford head unit) turned itself off for no reason. It then wouldn't come back on again no matter what I did. Even stranger was the fact that the screen remained backlit even when the key was removed from the ignition. It was dark and late, so I couldn't look at it properly, but I removed the fuse (which also does the interior light) to ensure it didn't run the battery down whilst the car is not in use. Any idea what a knowledge of in car entertainment (if you can call a radio in a Fiesta that) able to tell me what the issue may be? Cheers, Alex
  21. Hmmm, I am moving house this weekend and need some sofas as a 6 month stop gap. Very tempted. How flexible are you on the price?

    Polishing

Cleaner than yours I would hazard a guess 😬 😬
  23. Is there any info on Bernie's car collection 🤔 It sure sounds interesting 😳
  24. There seems to be an increasing trend in people buying significant classic and vintage cars for investment purposes, much in the same way as some individuals do with works of art. There was an article about it in Octane this month. To me this is truly terrible. Not only does it push the price up for true enthusiasts, but it also means that the most significant cars get hidden away in private collections, never to be seen or heard again ☹️ If only I had a spare £10m 😬 Actually, I would go for a Mercedes W154
  25. 06 model, looked like a roadsport. I hope you had fun, it was a lovely day for it
