    Yellow / Ali

Yellow / Ali on the A283, Wormley, Witley area about lunch time today. Flash of lamps and a wave. _________________________ Gordon.
  2. Thats exactly where my sheared bolt is on mine Bob. Anyway remains of old bolt now removed with no problem. Thanks everyone for all your thoughts and advice on this one _________________________ Gordon.
  3. Spark plug colour chart Take a look at the above link, should tell you how healthy your plugs are. Different engine i know but my xflow was running a NGK B8ECS plug. Rather sooty on removal. Changed to a NGK BPR7ES and i now have that light tan colour. No adjustments made at all just a plug change. Just goes to show what a difference two different plugs can be. _________________________ Gordon.
  4. Had a little nosey around my xflow following a mornings blat yesterday and found that the alternator adjustment arm bolt has sheared off flush in the engine block. Shouldn't be to much trouble getting it out with an easyouts. However if things don't go to plan and i have to resort to drastic measures and have to drill it out and clean the threads up with tap, does anyone know.... What size /type of thread this bolt is likely to be ? UNC ?? UNF ?? Metric even ?? Hope you can help _________________________ Gordon.
  5. Use this synchrometer for my Alpha throttle bodies. Great bit of kit. Ebay supplier next day delivery. _________________________ Gordon.
  6. Running from max to min in less than 1000 miles i would have thought that shouldn't be to hard to find. But then that very easy for me to say sat here. Signs of leaks can be a coloured stain. Blue, pink depending what colour antifreeze was used. Over a period of time as the fluid leaks you can get a build up of crystals around the leak. You might see steam. Can you smell the coolent at all ? Trust you have had very little change in the cars performance then ? Any fluid under the car at all ? You can replenish the cars system, however generally speaking it ain't going to get any better. Unless the leak crystallized and the leak seals it's self. Happen once on an old Vauxhall i used to have years ago. Keep looking. Sounds odd i know but lets hope it gets a bit worse, should be easier to find then. _________________________ Gordon.
  7. What i am i talking about. You ain't got a chuck key, you got one of those fancy keyless chucks like what i got on my Dewalt. Emmm. _________________________ Gordon.
  8. You tried tightning down on the drill using all the holes ? Perhaps the jaws are tightning bias one side of the drill. Probably not, but anythings worth a try. Play in the chuck ? you given the chuck a pull radially at all ? _________________________ Gordon.
  9. Are you sure it's the chuck and not the drill ? Just roll the drill across a flat surface & you will soon see if it's out of true or not. Trust theres not a burr on the drill shaft ? _________________________ Gordon.
  10. Worth a little read through this. Whilst you might not have an Alpha Engine Management system installed it will certainly give you a few pointers in setting up throttle bodys etc. Food for thought. You say she only runs with a little throttle applied. Worth looking at the butterflys then. Should have a little gap at the bottom. If it doesn't you'll not get the all important airflow through the intake manifold. Further to that the throttle postion sensor may need a tweak one way or tuther to get the revs up for starters. Once the engine is then running you can then start to balance things out between the bodies, adjust idle speeds etc For the balance side of things you'll need a syncrometer. Reasonable price on ebay if you need one. Might have nothing to do with you problem however i mention it because i was setting up my xflow SS only last week following a head rebuild. Alpha Plus Engine Management / throttle bodies & injectors installed. Following a very cagey start she just wouldn't stay running to start with. Then got her to run albeit roughly. Following the above guide i have now balanced, adjusted idle speed and have a good CO reading. Just a thought. _________________________ Gordon.
  11. Simon, thought i heard that fimilar sound of another Se7en over the roof tops 😬 _________________________ Gordon.
  12. By the Science Museum this afternoon 1400 hrs Hood up. Really strange my sister made reference to some of the super cars coming and going and i made light of it and said that perhaps if a Caterham came through that would be a head turner. Couldn't believe it not twenty minutes had gone by when i heard but didn't see this beautiful noise echoing between the lovely buildings. Little squirt on the throttle to the next set of lights. Lovely. You certainly made the traffic police look up. Made my afternoon 😬 _________________________ Gordon.
  13. Following some work on my cylinder head over the winter i've assembled my primaries with a smear of red RTV 106. Its a heat resistant silicon we use in aviation. Sure you can buy it on the street however if you need a tube give me a shout i'm sure i could sort some out for you. I did note however that my primaries never had and sealent or such like when i took it all a part. Seemed to get through the last MOT ok without any. _________________________ Gordon.
  14. Red Fiat Panda parked by Stoke Park, Guildford today with a Se7en sticker in the rear window. _________________________ Gordon.
  15. Geoff, If you don't want to go down the exhaust wrap road then i can supply you some heat resistant spiral wrap if you need it. Just give me a shout if you would like me to send some over. Comes in various diameters by the way. How much you want and what diameter ? Just like this Spiral wrap _________________________ Gordon. Edited by - Whoosh on 12 Feb 2009 17:36:09
  16. Yes but do they fit a live axle on a 2000 car 🤔 _________________________ Gordon.
  17. Not had a reason to remove my xflow yet however this winter following head removal i did find a few hidden problems that Steve at Vulcan Engineering managed to sort out. Can't recommend them enough. I think if you are set on a xflow rebuild then you have to go for all the beans you can get (145 ) However if it where me i might be tempted by replacing it with Zetec unit. Depends what you want but anything from 150 to 240 hp can be achieved. Tempted 🤔 _________________________ Gordon.
  18. Installed a number of sender units on Subaru cars over the years. If you could see where the oil temp sender lived you'd only want to visit this area once. The run down torque is pretty high and as has already been said it wont seat fully down. Belt and braces i used to apply serveral wraps of plumbers tape to the threads. Never had one fail yet. _________________________ Gordon.
  19. Yes indeedy. Todays FIA bars have the two diagonals rather than one as well. _________________________ Gordon.

Chris, you may well find the answer to all your problems here. From the German and Swedish car forum by the way _________________________ Gordon.
  21. Can't say i've to many difficulties filling up so i've been intrigued to see what all the fuss is all about. Just been out to the car and removed my Aero cap. I see no signs of a flap or evidance a flap was in mine in the first place. Even got a little dentist mirror to peer further around the corner. Nothing. Guess because i've had no troubles i ain't got one ? Are they obvious when they are installed ? _________________________ Gordon.

I would take a set for a live axle. Come on Autobush help the little Se7en out _________________________ Gordon.
  23. Only ways you'll remove all the remaining coolent is to have the engine out on the bench and turn her over. Not practicle in most cases. No, as has been sudjested just give her a good flush out with a hose when it runs reasonably clean then just service with fresh antifreeze your be fine. I feel jacking the car up probably won't get you to much more out although do try it. Personnally i couldn't be bothered with all that. Only last week following a cylinder head removal on mine i gave her a good flush through, filled the system just with plan water, ran her to temp and pressure to proove the head and then dropped the water. Supprising how much more of the original antifreeze comes out. Now i've prooved the cylinder head shes all back with fresh antifreeze. _________________________ Gordon.
  24. CTEK MULTI XS 3600 Car Battery Charger.........thats the fella i have Brent, with out turning the house upside down i can't find the receipt for the Cetek. Was a while ago mind, think i paid about £35. Lot more expensive today it would seem. Never the less you won't be disappointed with the performance. Guess it's just a case of Googling the thing and seeing what pops up. Sorry i can't be of more help to you _________________________ Gordon.
  25. One of my previous cars which was alarmed to the nines was being looked after by a Optimate III, just couldn't cope with the high drain from the various security systems it had fitted. Following a run it would show green almost straight away however look the next day more often than not it would show up as charging. Changed over to a Cetek unit to see if that was any better and i have to say i haven't looked back since. Great bit of kit and one i'd highly recommend especially if you have a high draw going on. _________________________ Gordon. Edited by - Whoosh on 16 Jan 2009 17:57:13
