  1. 'A' Frame bush? Carb jets need blow-out? EUGENE!!!! It's another Aldon!!!! See my top rev stutter post. re ALDON!!!! Tell 'im Steve Eugene.....
  2. Valve springs all OK as are tappet clearances. Carefully checking as I wait for rolling road appointment....
  3. Strongy! Beware! Eugene may be along at some point to explain how an Aldon unit can electronically 'fight' a Rev counter AND LOSE... He and I had one on our Sevens, they can take 2-5 years to break down..and down they went. For a good unit that may be described as Bombproof go to Bestek (ebay on line) sells out of a workshop near Gatwick at the rear of a B&B that only accommodates airline stewardesses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A very attractive business.......
  4. Thanks elie but it's all-matching set of V12 Lucas..converted that is..was bomb-proof..might be it so Sun tuner might do the trick too except it works OK but not under load... New baby next door so I have to plan garage noise well....
  5. Cheers guys, fortified by johnv... no rev limiter. will check springs Rog. Brian, thanks for contacts. Silverstone was fun but short-changing due to miss lost me 10-12th... Spectators tell me it was freezing tho...
  6. There is every chance that something is failing/breaking down... 😬...but the question is do I use a lot of time guessing or hoping to find it. I can't go and check it easily and it ain't road legal... Rolling road and a big bag of bits mebbe...
  7. Recent carb p pump plugs old electronic ignition, missing at 7,000rpm How and where should I start? I'm thinking I should take it straight away to a rolling road to track it down rather than hunt it down...?
  8. I don't have them, but have been asked by a man who does....
  9. Lotus Elan+2S 130/5 First registred: 01/01/1973 LHD odometer: 14000 km collection registration 2L BDG block with twincam cylinder head give 165 BHP ZF gearbox with 5 speed Spyder chassis with Spax adjustable and new tyres JPS colour with Webasto sunroof Oatmeal leather interior FARAÜS Georges Phone House: 0479850160 GSM: 0786330809 Had this come through from a chap in France. Looks like a well sorted car. Don't know how though.
  10. Nip over to Ware and borrow my camber guage...01920 871153.
  11. Dijon again in October 6/7. You'll be welcome to join us in our little compound of Englishness (tea and cake at 4pm daily etc 😬 ) and give me a reminder re tickets nearer the time. We have an awning if you want to camp.
  12. Cheers Guys, much appreciated, as always there's more to it than one thinks. Will go back to the shed and do it properly.
  13. Piston hard over = 8 thou...any point.
  14. Yup Ben all you say and great fun racing too Come and look us up sometime....and be tempted? Unclefester, IF EVER he wants to sell it PLEEESE let me know, I'd love something that beautiful... 🥰 I don't know if it's sold yet, if you want it I have his number......
  15. I've found that the tiniest of curved surface will set up stress in the unit when attaching and break the moulded-in contact strips and that seems to give them their unreliability. Fit on a very flat surface and most are good for years.
  16. Ah, not allowed to oversize...bores good...could even be the fault of pistons...just want to know what sort of power loss at 8thou as opposed to 2,3,4ish...
  17. Measured at 8 thou..... is this too much? It races it's head off and does 6.500.. 1600 FF spec... Will there be a need to re-sleeve & bore to ? thou or is there any magic available for zero power loss?
  18. Nope mines a 61 (ugly duckling wedge) this one is Paul Stringers gorgeous cigar-shaped one in Yorkshire. On the button to come racing with us in the HSCC series...'sgoodfun! Oddly enough I was told of another for sale in the US four hours after Paul told me of his. Might be a better deal but has a lot of work to be done (1500 engine and Renualt box) and you've got to get it over here..and pay 20% tax...
  19. beauty ready to go £25K Dikko 01920 871153 The 61 is near Bedford and owner is a retired engineer so will be in quite good nick. Come racing with young and old wannabes???? Edited by - dikko on 15 Feb 2012 22:27:55
  20. latest 2012 dates as at Decenber 2011 on web site at http://www.hscc.org.uk/resources/Provisional%20Race%20Dates%202012.pdf
  21. PS BTW The 54 entries are for one 30 min practice/Quali and two 25 min races. All on one grid. Rolling start for safety.... 😶‍🌫️
  22. If it is any help my 'other' club needs 54 entries to make Spa pay for itself, which is a lot to find maybe but good luck with it. Another circuit we might be looking at in the future is one opening again near Brussels - not quite the same as Spa. If you have a passing glance towards Dijon I did it this year and it is absolutly brilliant - a terrifically fast and sweeping track. If you get the chance or it is more affordable take it, it is on par with Spa....
  23. As the heading really.... I've heard a few failures have worried some people with Standard Ford 1600 pistons but they have been machined. How deep before dangerous is my question. I would guess it depends on how much metal there is and may be factory tolerances vary...but rule of the thumb?
