  1. The only way to really know for sure is to drive both of them. I'd suggest the Supersport first, followed by the R, followed again by the Supersport. If the second drive of the Supersport doesn't cut it, then you know you'll want the R
  2. OK, makes sense. I'm happy to pay £1500 for the CC one but not £2k, I'd rather go for the Pace one at that sort of figure. Good luck
  3. I spoke to Caterham last week about the K series dry sump kit as it's my top job for this winter. They said they could still do the kit for £1500 though, so I'm confused that they told you it would be £2k. Maybe we should seek some clarification on the pricing?
  4. I'm after a Nikon AF-S DX 35mm f/1.8G Lens for my Nikon d3100 DSLR. If you have one you want to sell, please give me a shout
  5. 😬 I thought people would be falling over themselves to lend me a pair?! Thanks for all the advice, I'll keep an eye on the For Sale section and have a play when some wheels come up.
  6. Thanks James, yes a little power oversteer now the roads are a bit drier would be great. Not too much mind, just want the car to move about a little more than it does right now. Perhaps I am going too slow but the car feels very planted right now so it would be nice to give the 6" rears a try. Just to clarify I'm not looking to swap wheels with anyone, I'd buy them in addition to 8" ones I have
  7. Hi all, I have the standard 13" anthracite wheels on my 2001 Superlight, 6" on the front and 8" on the back with CR500s. Car is running 165bhp and I've been considering swapping the rears for 6" wheels, the same as the front as it can be quite hard to get the rear moving around. Two questions, will I be 'undertyred' ? And secondly will the 6" anthracite wheels with CR500s go on without any issues as a straight swap?
  8. Samsung 2443BW Syncmaster 24" widescreen PC Monitor in black. - 16:10 aspect ratio - 1920x1200 resolution. - 5ms response time In mint, completely unmarked condition and perfect working order. Boxed with VGA cable and manuals. Postage would be £10. Selling only as I've upgraded to triple monitors which had to be smaller due to my desk size. Price: £90
  9. bugger, I was just thinking about getting one from you 😔 How are people mounting these on the scuttle then? The CC branded jobes have a little metal bracket so lift them up a bit, is there anything similar for the DRE lights?
  10. Quoting AdeC: I e-mailed the seller but could not get enough info from him and he could not supply any detailed photos. Same experience as me, didn't give me a great feeling so I didn't pursue it any further.
  11. I'm selling my Sinn 144 GMT Aviation Chronometer. Bought in 2006 from Neil at Chronomaster and serviced in late 2009 it is in perfect working order. Being a GMT watch it has a secondary hour hand which can be set to GMT, with the normal hour hand set to local time. The face is pristine, completely scratch and blemish free. The bracelet does have some light scratches on but they aren't too bad and new bracelets are not expensive should you prefer to change it or go for the leather one. It comes in the original leather bound box with all paperwork, spare links, screwdriver, oil and instructions on CD. Price is £750 Edited by - grenpayne on 9 May 2013 12:58:23
  12. Great stuff Mike, my wife wasn't sure they were Sevens but my six year old son said they definitely were 😶‍🌫️ 😬 Glad you had a good day out
  13. Three Sevens on the A420 at Faringdon heading towards Oxford at about 6.45pm tonight. Spotted by my wife and son travelling the other way. One was blue with white stripes I'm told 😬
  14. Quoting Graham King: I have always used 4 in any car, to be specific in the 7, I use a limit of 3-3500 RPM until the oil temp reaches ~ 60 degrees, then 4500 until it reaches approx 80 degrees, then I give it full beans. I'm not anal about it but use those as general guidelines. Water temp is largely irrelevant in all this. Graham. Exactly what I do. Although I watch the water come up first, check it stabilises then flick the switch to watch the oil come up. When it's up at 80 degrees, I flick back to water and monitor that to check it's not overheating. Yes, I know it's a little bit anal 😬
  15. All done now, whilst the nuts weren't loose they weren't torqued to 25lb ft by some margin. Looks like I was worrying unnecessarily about the gasket too, all seems good now I guess I'll find out tomorrow if this is contributing to the poor emissions readings....
  16. Gasket looks like a foil type of material and I've triple checked the torque wrench I'll go and have another look at it now....
  17. Following on from the MOT emissions failure thread my car is off to Northampton Motorsport tomorrow for a stint on the rollers to see what's going on. I'm doing a quick spanner and fluid check of everything today to make sure things (hopefully) go smoothly. Everything so far is fine, however, the exhaust manifold nuts that sit on the studs holding the primaries on aren't that tight. I've checked the archives for the value and 25lb ft seems to be the value, but torquing them up to that value seems to be crushing the gasket. Am I doing something daft or is that right? The exhaust is a 4-1 R500 job.
  18. Possibly a little dark, but I was thinking along the lines of these tiles. Thoughts?
  19. Jonathan, I'm in the same situation as you now. I put two coats of Garacoat down in spring last year and although initial thoughts were excellent it's lifting where my Seven's CR500s sit. I'm now looking at tiles although I've not yet decided whether to go for plastic or porcelain.
  20. I realise a lot of people have chipped in to this thread but just to add, I've booked my car into Northampton Motorsport to be looked at by Troy next week. It was originally remapped by them so I'll report back after they've seen it. Hopefully it will shed some light on the issues we all seem to be having
  21. Any update Bluespeed? Went out for a blat with Huwp this morning and he commented that following my car it smells very rich. Of course I knew this but it begs the question why are our K series cars on RBTBs mapped so rich? Still at a loss as to what I do with my car.... 😔
  22. This thread has motivated me to also try and find a solution I sort of have a solution which involves a decat pipe and a friendly MOT place but that's not ideal Unlike bluespeed, I only have one lambda in the no 4 primary. This is obviously upstream of the 4-1 collector, so although this shows evidence of air-leaks due to soot, the air-leaks themselves can't cause the ECU to change the fueling. Am I alone in having a single lambda? Anyway, of to check the TPS voltages, will report back later on. Edited to say TPS voltage is 0.404v at the throttle idle position. Back to square one then as this seems to be the correct value! Edited by - grenpayne on 4 Apr 2013 10:09:25
  23. Quoting YellowPeril: .........Since then I have had verniers fitted to get the timing correct, had the throttle bodies balanced and had it remapped to improve driveability/fuel consumption/ease of getting an MOT. Unfortunately I have only achieved 2 of the above and my last MOT was problematic, requiring a sympathetic MOT tester even after getting the engine hot on a warm July day. I am confident that the mapping is as good as it can be and the fuelling is right – it has also been suggested to me that air is leaking into the system before the Lamda sensor but I am yet to test for this. Currently my only solution is to continue to find a tame Mot tester – not ideal........ To add fuel to the fire, I am in exactly the same position as this. My car is a Supersport R ie R300K spec. I did have the engine totally rebuilt last year, only the block, head and crank were kept, everything else was replaced so I know it's not the internals that are at fault. As such I'd also be really interested to find a solution
