  1. I have the '198bhp at 8000 rpm map' that Emerald sent me if you want it. Successfully running on my car. gav Superlight R #41
  2. Chris. I had it couriered to Ratrace in Barnet (which is 10mins from my house) and they fitted it. Emerald sent me the map from an SLR that read 198bhp at 8000 rpm on the rolling road! It drives like a dream, but doesn't start too well from cold. I will get emerald to map it properly. gav Superlight R #41 Edited by - gavinp on 28 May 2004 19:14:12
  3. Ali's. I think it will do fine unti I see Dave. I have been studying yours though 😬 Superlight R #41
  4. I didn't quite believe it would, and that is why I had it down for an xmas time upgrade, but now having been forced into it by the MOT problems it drives completely differently. I actually didn't use to enjoy 'slow' town driving but now that is transformed. The drop down through the gears is now so smooth I thought the clutch was slipping to begin with. Throttle response is excellent and the engine generally sounds happier. I am running the '198bhp at 8000rpm' slr map at present. Superlight R #41
  5. Nig. I am here! Wow. That's it. Get an Emerald!!! Superlight R #41

    3/8 unf

Caterham reckon the thread on the top of a 1998 VHPD dry sump tower (for the catch tank/breather hose) is 3/8 unf. Does anyone concur before I bust the thread! thanks g Superlight R #41
  7. ...and by the way I would welcome your thoughts on my other thread 'do i really need to get it mapped?' sorry back to the dual guage debate... 😬 Superlight R #41 Edited by - gavinp on 25 May 2004 20:14:10
  8. Nig. I was after a dual fuel guage as well - they must realise there is demand here. BTW - O/T but it is my thread! so, do you have an emerald map that would suit my stock VHPD? Superlight R #41 Edited by - gavinp on 25 May 2004 20:10:44
  9. Guy - who knows! I just thought if the dial next to it is going to be a dual one (oil/oil) then I would get symetry! [convince wife mode on/] I suppose it might be a useful safety feature [convince wife mode off/] 😬 g Superlight R #41
  10. Hmm, still a bit confused as my sendors are in different places. Is there anyway to identify the ecu one versus the guage one? E.g wire colour or look? One of my sndors has a brown plug on the back like I think the ecu one in your photo. gavin Superlight R #41
  11. Myles, as ever I believe our cars are going to end up looking amazingly similar. I have just fitted a chock block 'distribution panel' off my heater switch, now renamed 'accessories'! Gavin Superlight R #41
  12. Standard SLR VHPD with Swan Neck TBs. Superlight R #41
  13. Just had an Emerald fitted. Track day in a few weeks. Dave at Emerald booked solid until some time in July! I have been advised that even though I can get SLR maps off of other people, including Dave/Karl, it would be a bit dodgy to run the car at full whack on the road or track. Just in case it is running lean (detonation probs). Any views on whether I really need to go the expense of a full mapping now (more expensive) rather than waiting for Dave? [i accept that a full mapping session will get the best out of the engine.] thanks g Superlight R #41
  14. In the end just moved the Rover port to the other side of the bulkhead near the steering column and re-attached it with Dual Lock rather than drilling and screwing the little bracket back on, and then moved the inertia switch a bit more central and voila space for a Mocal catch tank on the bulk head in front of the passenger. It is positioned above the Emerald but I'll use the second outlet as run off to under the car. g Superlight R #41
  15. Thanks Jimmy. I thought I saw 2 sensors on the water rail and wasn't sure which one to go for. I'll look again. Do you not need a feed to the ECU? g Superlight R #41
  16. Mark, that's not good news about the Mocal. The main reason I bought it was to stop getting an 'oily tan' each time I take a drive! g Superlight R #41
  17. Stu, thanks, Emerald was fitted last week so I suspect the fuel trap is no longer needed? Also, the orientation of the rubber inertia switch can be anywhere? [is the inertia sensor in that little switch unit do you think?] Superlight R #41
  18. I have a lovely SPA digital dual water temp/volts guage to install. Does anyone have any experience of this? Nig. I thought you might have done this from looking at previous threads. Can I just replace the Caterham water temp sendor with the SPA one? Are they thread compatible? How does the wiring work? etc. etc.? thanks g Superlight R #41
  19. On the subject of my new Mocal catch tank again! I am totally confused by the Demon Tweeks catalogue. It says the mocal is tapped for 1/4" BSP and comes with 1/2" inlets. Simply, I want to run a hose from the sump tower to the catch tank. I think the sump tower has a 1/2" thread. Screwed into that currently is a push on 6mm outlet. I would be grateful for some advice specifically on what fittings I need (DT references would be wonderful). thanks g Superlight R #41
  20. The inertia reset switch is right where I want to put my catch tank, right against the bulkhead (above the ECU). There is also a Rover port of some sort there, which has 2 pipes coming off it, one which is just plugged up with a screw and the oher leading to, and branched off, into each swan neck on the TB's. Questions are: a - what is the little Rover port for? b - can I move both of these? They seem to just unscrew from the bulkhead, but is there any particular orientation they need to end up in (e.g. upright or facing forwards)? thanks gavin Superlight R #41
  21. Paul The only reason I can think of for not owning a Seven is relative safety and having the cash. Why else wouldn't you! The more I can do to make it safer the better. So, I'll try one first and see how it goes. It's the Max power brigade hitting my fuel tank that worries me! Do you have any photos? cheers g Superlight R #41
  22. I was going to fit 2 of them, one in each upper corner of the roll bar/cage for maximum effect (they are only relatively little things - 60mm across). Tapping into nearside and offside rear brake light loom. Any chance of overloading the circuit with 2 of them do you think? I already have the wire in place for a central LED brake light I had in place before on one side, but doing 130mph down the back straight at Bedford took the light unit off! g Superlight R #41
  23. Tony Do you what resistor? to step down to the 9 -11 volts it needs? Superlight R #41
  24. oohh and which rating of resistor did you buy? thanks Superlight R #41
  25. Paul, I nearly bought this once but thought it was too bright for the road? Superlight R #41
