    heat shield

Raceco advise that their silencer runs cooler than most, so not a requirement to put heat shield back on. g Superlight R #41

well I was wondering whether they are required to be road legal 🤔 Superlight R #41

    heat shield

Just taken delivery of a simply gorgeous looking Raceco titanium silencer - do I need to put my crummy black heat shield back on the car? Superlight R #41 Edited by - gavinp on 8 Apr 2004 22:44:16
  5. I had a road angel before but much prefer the S4. Compact, great bright display (that sits on the scuttle and doubles as a speedo), seems to get all the traps, configurable, plugs into my Autocom and has a human voice to tell you what type of trap is coming and what speed you should be doing. Means you don't need to take your eyes off the road. Can't recommend it more highly and got it very cheap at Maplin (even cheaper if you use the £15 off voucher in the catalogue). g Superlight R #41
  6. I have a Snooper S4 which is smaller than the RA and just as portable. Fits neatly on top of the scuttle just to the right of the rear view mirror and up against the aero, with Velcro. g Superlight R #41
  7. thanks - I picked red. Don't ask me to diffuse a bomb! Superlight R #41
  8. I am trying to wire in a high level brake light. I need to tap into the brake bulb control wire. There are 4 wires going into the rear wing lighting block. A black, red, light green, and dark green. In the lighting block the black terminates on the back plate for a common -ve earth (I presume). The light green goes into the indicator bulb holder and the dark green and red go into the running light/brake light bulb holder. which is obviously holds one dual intensity bulb. I am guessing that I need to tap into the red or the dark green on the +ve (with black to black on the -ve). Tried red and that didn't work. Have checked the new high level brake light and that works fine when connected straight to a battery. Any ideas which wire, red or dark green or another? Thanks g. '98 SLR. Superlight R #41
  9. B&Q warhouse has tons, and in any quantity you need. Superlight R #41
  10. I would appreciate the diagram, then maybe we could all agree on which part would work from Maplin. I think sockets behind the driver and passenger shoulder in the boot bulkhead is an ideal solution. g Superlight R #41
  11. I have the defenders and the helmet kit. One thing I noticed is the leads off the defenders are very long, allowing the positioning of the main unit under the dash, however the leads on the helmet insert are much much shorter meaning the plugs need to be up by your shoulder somewhere. Is the conclusion therefore that the boot is probably best for the main unit? g Superlight R #41
  12. Myles, I do have a zip cover but it still seems to get in I have no idea how. g Superlight R #41
  13. Same here (tonneau + breathable) but always seem to find a little puddle on the centre tunnel. g Superlight R #41
  14. Not sure what your cover is made of (mine lives outside too) a breathable fabric cover might help the drying process. g Superlight R #41

    speedo wobble

    The +/- 5mph is at about 50-60mph. g Superlight R #41

    speedo wobble

Speedo wobbles about +/- 5mph. Not that I can see it too well in the dark anyway as the back lighting is so poor! Any clues where to start first? Standard Caterham item. Or even a way to improve the back lighting whilst I am at it. thanks g Superlight R #41
  17. I tested the Snooper S4 with the 'Road Angel' kit, and it worked fine, although the S4 has a volume control. Make sure you take out the chopped off jack plug before you try as mine came inserted in unit on delivery, that nearly did my ears in. g Superlight R #41
  18. Having taken a look at the graphs, are you sure the centre wear on the rears is normal? I would have said they were over inflated, but then again I am going on a comment made down at Kwik Fit about my Beemer's rubber. g Superlight R #41
  19. Thanks, that's what I was planning to use, but it's pretty potent stuff. Thought it could be a bit OTT. Good news is thought that it comes in clear and I have some in the garage. g Superlight R #41
  20. Took someone's advice off this thread and bought a Savage high level brake light from the motor shop opposite Ratrace in Barnet. £14.99 for a self contained unit with a thin black wire to run down the rollbar. Also has a little fixing bracket that can easily be used to mount it on the bar. Very bright by the looks of it with 20+ LEDs but road legal. g Superlight R #41
  21. What Silicone sealants do you use (if any) and where do you get it from? I am thinking about keeping my new high level LED brake light casing watertight. g Superlight R #41
