  1. Got a DL1 and love it. Upgradeable capacity (uses CF cards), lots of inputs, gps, g-force sensors, good PC software, dash display available soon, link into my Emerald ECU available one day, revised software may provide video overlay as well. Superlight R #41

  10. Nigel The sender for the digital guage sits in the water rail right above the exhaust manifold. The ECU sender is around the back of the engine. I am going to do a compare and contrast of these 2 readings just to be clear what is going on. Chris - YHM (ther other day) - would you be able to send your diagram, thanks. gavin Superlight R #41
  11. Great site. I sent you my updated map last night sorting the idle prob (simple fix - turn idle stabilisation on - it had been left off to facilitate the full mappping on the RR). And my car is a '98 build not '99 - not that it matters! cheers g Superlight R #41 Edited by - gavinp on 10 Jun 2004 19:31:13
  12. BTW, the reason for this post was the following: I have just replaced caterham water guage with a SPA digital combined volts and water temp guage. Before my water used to be at around 85 degrees always. Since the new (more sensitive?) sender has gone in, I run at around 84 degrees when moving but then temp rises to 100 degrees when stationary. Then fan cuts in and it comes down so not too worried but not over the moon, so lower rated fan switch plus manual over ride seemed the answer. Am curious though how to work the electrics with the Emerald as I did see this option on the mapping and wondered why it made no difference - untill I remembered the fan switch in the rad! g Superlight R #41
  13. Thanks for all of this guys - been snowed at work , so no Blat chat responses today (but have been watching on my Blackberry - essential piece of kit that). Chris - thanks and YHM. g Superlight R #41

  15. oh dear.... 😳 Superlight R #41
  16. Dave, could you tell me how I do that? If you meant idle stablisation then this is currently disabled. I haven't tried with it on. Or, do you mean, drop the "conditions that enable idle control" revs to say 100? Looking at other maps versus mine, there is a box on the idle speed control page that says "shut valve at load site 'x'" 'x' on everyone else's map is set to '0', but mine is set to '1'. Does this make any difference? thanks for your help. g Superlight R #41
  17. ..sorry to resurrect this. Just been mapped today and have the same problem. Tried setting the revs on over run cut off to the max (2550) but still no joy. Disabling it didn't work either. Anyone solve this? thanks Superlight R #41

  20. fit into a 3/8 UNF socket? thanks Superlight R #41

    dry sump leak?

At the top of the tower, there is a final cylinder with the 2 outlets on it. One blocked off as far as I can tell and the other a pain in the $rse 3/8 unf thread (if you want to go into 1/2" bore for a mocal catch tank). This cylinder rotates. I have oil collating around the join between the cap (that you unscrew to check the oil) and this cylinder. Am I right in assuming this is not correct, and this is not the tower breathing but a leak!! thanks gavin Superlight R #41
  22. For me, apart from the overwhelming positive comments and support from felow SLR owners on BC, the fact that I didn't have to buy a new loom to fit my Emerald (an MBE would have needed a new engine loom) meant a much lower total cost of ownership. I have only had it 2 weeks but it runs like a dream. Customer service so far has been exceptional. MBE is more of a 'professional' set up and some may regard it as a bit over the top. Bear in mind also that there are effectively free software upgrades coming from Emerald to add new functionality. gavin Superlight R #41
  23. If you can hold on, my current map (now renamed 'gav 198bhp at 8000 @ Ratrace' !! is to be tweeked at Emerald. I'll post when I've got that, and we can compare and contrast. Just for the record, I have a 1998 stock SLR, with Swan necks. cheers g Superlight R #41
