  1. I have prisoner wheels and I'm after a decent set of tyre to fit. Any Ideas please Ta smile.gif Edited by - Gareth Harrold on 18 Feb 2001 21:59:40
  2. I decided to take the car to Arrowstar to how it was done. It looks easy enough but they couldn't turn the ball joint even with a lever a meter long. Ho Hum.....
  3. Paul, I to have the same problem. Have you tried taking it to a garage to have the tracking checked. If so how did you get on? If you did yourself was it easy enough to do? Cheers Gareth
  4. My rear wheel bearing went on the way home from Caterham having just picked it up. The nice man from Classic Carrage collected it and replaced the bearing and stated that it was from a Ford Granada. While on this note is it unusual for the bearing to sieze and fail?
  5. I know the feeling. Seeing as I've just bought it, it seems a shame to keep it locked away in the Garage so I'll look forward to any comments other people have. All I do is to give it a good wash down with plain old water and a sponge but I guess that might not be enough.
  6. Stewart, As mine is a post '96 it does have two washers front and rear. I spent Sunday evening changing it to 4 up front and it makes a difference. During cornering you seem to get more feedback as the steering weights and is less twitchy. Thanks for all the advice Gareth
  7. My Caterham is now getting on for 20,000 miles so I was wondering when it is time to replace the standard shocks. When the time comes (or has passed) what would be a sensible choice for a replacment.
  8. Right. I've taken another look at adjusting the camber but am unable to get the ball joint out. I've spoken to Caterham and they suggested that I use a ball joint splitter. Which is the easiest method baring in mind I've never used a ball joint splitter and wouldn't be that sure how to put it back together again. Any comments please...
  9. Thanx for that stewart. I'll take a look at it tomorrow. The self centering isn't actually that bad its just that I'm used to driving a "normal" car.
  10. Thanks for that. It'll give me something to do tomorrow.
  11. Arnie, Not quite with you on adjusting the camber. Please explain?
  12. How easy is it to adjust the camber. I had a quick look but it looks like you have to take off the top ball joints.
  13. Its amazing. You bye a car and then try and think of thing that might be wrong. So, should the steering self center easily or is it normal to have to put effort into centering it. My thoughts were not enough toe in but the tyre wear is OK. Any ideas? Also how easy is it to change the dash board? K8 TRM
  14. I'm after a set of yellow dial, can anyone help? Gareth
  15. I've just bought my first Caterham 7. While driving it back from Caterham anlong the M25/M1 I noticed that the steering became quite stiff and difficult to turn. I've put this down to it being a cold day. Is this a common occurence? The steering does loosen up once on the smaller roads/town. Gareth
