  1. battery got plenty of power but how does the immoboliser work? does affect only the starter motor or does it cut power to everything, lights, wipers et al? Edited by - fred_gustafsson on 17 Apr 2010 08:18:18
  2. I tried with the inertia switch disconnected as recommended in guide but still nothing.
  3. Yes, i have checked the fuses too fuel pump is quite. Have checked voltage at ignition, how do i do that?
  4. Almost finished my build (RS 175) and tried to start her up. Absolutely nothing happens when ignition is switched on. I checked the battery, the battery to chassis, battery to starter motor, engine to chassis, lights to earth, dashboard to chassis and they all have good contact. Any wise thoughts? 5. Assembly guide says two litres but I could only get one litre in before it started to spill over. It's a standard five speed box. Fred
  6. Perhaps a silly question but how are you supposed to attach the battery leads to the battery? Just a bolt and a nyloc or is there supposed to be some kind of clamp somewhere that I missed? Fred
  7. Hmmm. Forgot to mention that it is a Roadsport SV so a CSR pedal cover would be odd
  8. Thanks. Knee trims make sense. Check it tomorrow. The other one is not a tunnel cover as I have already mounted that one.
  9. I got these two bit of carpet that looks like they should have a purpose in life. Does anyone knoe what that could be? photo here
  10. Does anyone know what these panel are for? They don't seem to fit anywhere and are not mentioed in the AG as far as I can see. I seem to be missing a fuel filler cover plate but thes these guys doesn't seem to be it. here Edited by - fred_gustafsson on 4 Apr 2010 22:58:59
  11. My RH rear brake piston is stuck in its extended position. Any clever ideas?
  12. Thanks Martyn, I think I saw somethink looking like that but it was all brass, not black. So exactly how did you mount it? Does one end go into the outlet with a short bit of hose to connect it?
  13. Thanks Martyn. No, I haven't put anything into the J-hose, should I? Am I right in assuming that thingy that sticks out of the oil filter mount with gree/green cables is the oil pressure sender (your pic here)?
  14. Thanks Jonathan. No Stack gauge here so I suppose I can ignore that one. regarding the oil pressure sensor, where is that supposed to be? On eof the pictures in the guide shows a mystery sensor looking thing located a couple of inches up/left from the hole where the clutch cacble enter the bellhousing but I don't seem to have a hole there.
  15. I got a few electrical connectors coming out of the looms that I can't identify. I followed the guide for the R400 but these are not mentioned anywhere and I cant seem to find anything else that needs connecting up. Any ideas? green/blue and yellow/black pair here and yellow/black + black and white/brown + black pair here The engine is a Duratec 175
  16. The are two medium sized hose connections just above the oil filter. I kind of assumed these would be fo connecting the oil cooler but my car should have an oil filter (Duratec 175). I called CC and they said that the water from the heater should go into one of them and the other should be connected to the T-connection close by. Something to do with oil heating up faster than the water. Can anyone shed any light on this mystery? Picture here
  17. Got a bit of banjo mystery on my Duratec 2.0 175. The clutch hose had a banjo bolt already attached to it when I got it but it seems to be 10mm too long for the receiving fittig in the clutch master cylinder. Any ideas? Can't really cut it down, can I? Picture hereof it screwed as far as it goes.
  18. Got a Duratec 2.0 175. Assembly guide says: 36. Connect the red lead from the starter motor to the battery. But to which terminal? One already has a brown lead going to the alternator and the one has a thin red/white one. The only terminal left has the threads filed down so I can't get a nut on it. Should I really attach the red battery lead to the brown alternator lead? pic here
  19. Matt, I got an engine hoist that I don't need anymore (I hope). I'm based in London.
  20. Thanks Martyn, it fitted perfectly. Fred
  21. I think the myth about the fuels stems from condensation forming on the inside of the tank, create a layer of water at the bottom of the tank (being heavier than petrol) and this leading to difficulties starting it. At least this is what happended to my zephyr.
