  1. Turns out when I cleaned it all up properly it wasn’t the sump at all - thankfully! Rather it looks like it might well be this plug. Will have a better look tomorrow
  2. Cheers! It’s a CSR so standard cossie 2.3D. That hole looks like exactly in the right place though, so thanks for that! I suspect it’s also maybe the source of the oil leak! Sounds like the plug screws in but likely needs the crankcase cover to be off to enable it to turn?
  3. I have a smallish oil leak which Is from the bottom of the crankcase. I intend to clean it up and try a wee touch of sika flex on to see if it will hold it back. However I notice there’s one set screw down low just off the centre at the front of the engine (rather than a bolt). It’s in this area it’s leaking, however adjacent is a small black wedge type semi circle of metal, which rests within the casting, not sure what this is for and whether it can be temporary popped out prior to sealing?
  4. Great cars, can I be so nosy as to ask why such a new car needed a full respray? Good luck with the sale
  5. David, . Thanks for all the comments guys, new horns ordered!
  6. So have had no horn on my car for ages and decided to find out whats happening. Switch OK, fuse OK, Power going to the horns - I reckon they are both actually knackered! Anyone had that?
  7. John, that’s awesome, many thanks Finlay
  8. Brilliant thanks. PM sent
  9. Late last season my CSR developed an oil leak when it was parked up - bottom of the engine/sump area near the front. Tightened up the bolts at front and seemed to sort it. Now however it seems to be leaking at the rear of the sump. Wondered if this is a common issue and do I need to remove sump and replace gasket or what?
  10. Anyone got some unfitted DREs or similar lying around please?
  11. Thanks guys You both running CR500?
  12. wondering what cold pressure you are running your tyres at please guys?
  13. David ( Brown) Thanks for the wheelsaround heads up. Order a full new set of ZZS at £570 inc fitting. Saved over £100 all in I reckon. Good shout!
  14. Interested in what price the tyres were please David? Below quote from BMTR but also need to add in postage at £30 and fitting at £65 195/50R15 - £111.65 + vat, per tyre 245/40R15 - £140.07 + vat, per tyre Cheers Finlay

    New Tyres - CSR

Thanks Doctor, poor show that Avon couldn’t actually make the right size tyre, plus these ZZS are far from a bargain!
  16. Looking at this a bit more you can indeed buy Toyos new in the correct size for the front - for half the price of ZZS. However it seems ZZS are the only tyre that will fit the rear. So mix and match and no mods or spend a fortune and end up having to make some mods. What a joke.....
  17. Thanks David This whole tyre business is starting to irritate me. Being quoted £630 for a set mail order then another £60 odd to fit means £700 for a set of Caterham 15” tyres is dearer than for my 19” tyres on my M4 BMW..... Plus to add insult they don’t even fit without making some mods, I mean who thought that was a good idea?! Is it only Avon that can be obtained in 245 rear section I wonder?
  18. Thread resurrection! David/Blue did you ever change your tyres and how did you get on please? cheers Finlay
  19. The CR500s on my CSR have loads of tread and fine on dry track but a bit of a handful on cold wet roundabouts so I think age wise they no longer suit the cold climate up here in Scotland. Looking for recommendations for what will primarily be a road car please? (Running standard wheels 15” diameter). Also where to purchase the new tyres from? thanks in advance
  20. in good condition - surplus to requirements. Makes a lovely contrast inside the car instead of boring black! £130 the pair plus postage (which shouldnt be too much)
  21. A pair of genuine Caterham CF rear wing protectors. Usual gravel rash and a small nick low down on one where I caught it with drill when removing. Caterham part numbers 77302CF, 77301CF. £50 inc post at cost. pM for photos
  22. Really helpful guys - especially that link David. Pulled the switch off and the plunger is sticky which I guess is the problem. Looks like a new switch is needed. Out of interest does anyone know which vehicles these motors were originally fitted to please?
