  2. For my 1989 Caterham Sprint with new suspension ( no more trunions ) new ajustable dampers, big front ARB No limited slip diff all sold by Caterham and James Whiting The rear ARB was not advised for the road If it can help Eric
  3. Hello I am in France . Marseille Where are you ? Regards Eric

  6. Above 7000, you will use the bearing Shells .... So you will change them very often . That means open the engine .Steel components will not break, normally .... But the bearing shells, above 7000 are ok for 10 000 miles or less. However a Synthetic oil at this level of revs is stronger . The mineral oil is good for an old engine but yours is new .
  7. All these oils are very good . But 8500 revs are too much , 7000 revs is the limit , your engine will accept from time to time without some rebuilt at low mileage . 8500 revs is for a race engine with all the costs it need .
  8. I understand that, but at idle when the engine is hot the pressure is far better .I used a long time ago the Agip Sint 2000 semi synthetic 10w40 fine but not so good than the Motul Synthetic Now the Agip doesn't exist anymore . As my 1600 sprint is a former race car and they use d the Motul in it . Now all my car use this brand of oil . 10W40 for the Golf series 1 ( 200 000 Miles ) and the Honda CRX ( 300 000 miles ) 15w50 for the Caterham and the Alfa 164 2L V6 Turbo ( 200 000 miles )
  9. Hello I personally use a Motul 300V 15W50 which is a great oil for road and track use . A 15W40 is good but at high rev and with the higher temperature will be less protective than a 15W50 . A good synthetic oil with slip additives will help the engine to rev more freely . All that makes an happy motorist .

  11. Why do not use a Falken Ziex ZE914 Ecorun in 14" , I have them in 13" . They replace my old Bridgestone RE 720 and they seems to be very good in all weather. Great comfort too . (more than the Bridgestone and far more than the Yoko 048 ) All the semi slick tyre are good for the dry and tricky for the wet . Cheap price in 185/60/14 for a sport tyre useable for a trackdays . French Touring car uses them for races . They advise me this tyre . But I haven't use them on a track yet . Personally I prefer a less sticky tyre with my old 1989 Sprint Caterham
  12. a 2.8 i sierra but with a light exterior modification , to help it to fit
  13. Mintex 1144 or Ferodo DS 2500 are good for trackdays but if you use the car on the road, std pads from Caterham are better in cold situation . Same for the semi slick tyres which can be tricky when cold . Personnally , I tried the std Caterham pads, then the Ferodo DS 2500, then I go back to the std pads . Green EBC pads seems to be interesting ( less dust :-) )
  14. A friend had some problems with the crankshaft and one conrod :-( It seems to be a lubrication failure .... ) It is a dry sump car . Another friend, the same problem ... with the same engine and the same car . Is it a well known problem in a 200 HP Caterham ? What would be the best oil to use in this engine ? Many thanks to all Eric

    6 speed gearbox

when the engine is switched off, the reverse speed is difficult to disengage. Possible but not easy. Engine switched on, the reverse doesn't stay engaged most of time. All the other speeds run perfectly. The 7 is a Caterham CSR 2.3L 200 HP Thanks for your help.
