  1. A Supersprint which is 135 HP is different from a sprint : -increased capacity (1700) -compression ratio raised by the use of a smaller combustion chamber from the 1300 pistons (not far from 10 but I don't know exactly) - head (but I don't know if the valves are bigger) - Cam a 234 instead of an A2 eric
  2. I found a formula in a book : Increase of power = Cubic efficiency x increase of capacity x 0.8 For a 110 HP Sprint Caterham, the cubic efficiency is : 110/ 1.6 If the increase of capacity is O.1 l For a 1700, the increase of power would be in theory (110/1.6) x 0.1 x 0.8 = 5.5 HP eric
  3. so if it is 132 200 cc give 8HP which is not a lot. 100 cc will give 4 HP and 50CC 2HP and it is better not to rebore max but only the size needed eric
  4. If all the components are the same, same cam, pistons, head, carburators ... on a road goindg engine, what would be the expected power with a 1600, 1660, 1700, 1760 or perhaps a 1800 crossflow ? A very theorical question but as everybody knows that a 1600 K supersport is 122HP and a 1800 K supersport 140 HP, I have no idea with a Kent eric

    roller rocker kit

It could be a good reason for me to go for it ! eric
  7. Is it a good improvement for an x flow ? Better acceleration or only less wear for valves guides ? Do it cope with the standard Caterham rocker cover ? Thanks for your advises eric
  8. I think about it ... but not sure What I can see that there is nobody for the A2, in a way it is normal becouse in fact Caterham sold very little 1600 sprint with an A2 . The best seller was the 1700 supersprint eric
  9. damned, I always try the bad 234 ones
  10. I spoke yesterday with a supersprint owner, he confirmed the power comes after 4000 revs, so I will keep the A2. Even if it is more powerful after, I do prefer for road more hp at lower revs. eric
  11. my 7 has a very bad result on the verge on emission tests. So a 234 could help me to be honest
  12. Good point : I already have the aldon eric
  13. Hello Elie I like the torque and low rev power, so the 244 is not for me eric
  14. For road purposes, these 2 cams seems to be OK. if the 234 seems to be more modern than the A2, it is more tiring for the valves and the head. The 234 is also more acceptable for the gas emissions. As I have an A2 in my 1600 sprint, I have tried a 1700 supersprint but compared with my engine, it is flat under 4000 and more powerfull after (but after is often too late on the road ). The A2 is more fun, more race, more temperamental that is is finnally charming. As everybody thinks different, the timing question is obvious : my cam is perhaps well set and my friend's cam was not. Who knows the best torque/ low rev power timing for an A2 and a 234 ? Many thanks for your advises eric
  15. Finnally, I choose to change the rings, the bearing schells and to renew my head (laping valves ...)and all without getting out the engine, as the complete job is too difficult for me. the hassle of a non specialized workshop, with the risk of an engine with less performance and reliability than before were the reasons of this choice. If the problem is not cure : I will see in summer when the 7 moves easily in a area where there are specialists.

    Engine out

Thank you all for your advises. I will do in summer, now it is cold and all this trouble will be nicer when warm. You all open my eyes on what I will experience. eric

    ax block kent

Hello I am looking for an AX block (or a complete engine) eric
  24. Here there is a rolling road (one or two max) but they cost a fortune and I don't want my car touch by someone who doesn't know. It is an upgrade, my 7 works well except a small problem of fumes in the catch tank, I don't want it stopped by someone without experience. This upgrade could be easily transformed in a downgrade If I was in England, I will rebuild my engine as it have some 120 000 miles on the clock. But I will only renew my head and try an METAL 5 oil treatment as it is impossible to get off the engine from the car without hassle. However the engine have a good oil pressure and except the fumes when I accelerate hard, works well Repair a Seven here is like to go in England without speaking English, it is possible but all is more complicated . eric
