  1. The method that I use(d), and which is recommended by folks such as Roger King, is to route a hose from the crankcase breather to the rocker cover (approximately the middle of cyls 2 and 3) and then hose from back of rocker cover to the "condensing bottle" that you already have. Connection to middle of rocker cover is using a 90degree elbow and at the rear of the rocker cover use a straight conncector. There are (or were) Aluminium hose connectors available direct from Ford dealers .. .. and if you search this topic in the archives you will no doubt find them. I have a spare straight connector (used) if you get really desperate. Connectors can easily befitted to aluminium rocker covers which can be drilled and tapped to suit. Also fittable on tin rocker covers where a locking nut is used on the inside of the rocker cover. ( .. .. though you need to be REALLY SURE that it cannot come off). I can take (or find old) pictures of my set-up. Just send me a blatmail and I'll attach in the reply. Dave
  2. Clive, I have a GRP encased Alu tank that you can have for a small donation, give me a ring next week when I am back in the UK, D
  3. I've got two "new" 13" x 6" minilites that I got from KN in Telford and which never made it to the road (They did have tyres fitted and then removed - but that's all). Unfortunately not black/polished rims - but are completely satin black. Let me know if interested at all and I can send a pitcure or two, Dave
  4. After this post I will appear to be either a headlight bracket hoarder, or fetishist or just plain mad .. ..but as a minimum I will definitely have to go back to the garage and re-align 2 sets of headlights. Of the 6 brackets of the recent fabrication that I still have here (and that after un-wrapping a parcel that is being despatched tomorrow) I measured ID's of the boss in range 15.69-15.79mm. (I'm not going to give mean, mode, median or SD numbers - too small a sample ) I measured hollow bolt on two seperate cars (though both of same era) and got a range of 15.52 - 15.57mm. (A this is likely a 5/8 UNF bolt it would have, when new, a major diameter of 15.875mm, and what I measured is likely to be part-way down the depth of the thread). Based on the above numbers alone - I can confirm that the coating is thicker than we (I) had allowed for, but not by much. Steve - the only number that I can get which is close to the 14.5mm that you mentioned is the nut ID which I measure as 14.75mm (and I think ties in nicely with thread dimensions for 5/8 UNF). I then went on to measure a few more brackets which I have "floating around" in the shed with the following results :- Pre 1994 style (Caterham Part 78016) - 15.2mm diameter hole in the plate. '96-98 swan neck type (Caterham Part 71192) - old ones just taken off the car, which had no coating visible on the bore of the boss, 15.84mm, and a new unfitted pair which I bought a couple of months ago had a very generous 16.3mm hole !! So perhaps the newer hollow bolts are not 5/8"unf but some metric equivalent ? I definitely didn't know that. Clive/Steve - my indicator pods are quite some way off the suspension, though the headlights are angled "down" in the hollow bolt slot(if that makes any sense) which effectively raises the front edge of the indicator pod. rgds, Dave
  5. Steve, WOW that's a lot. Indeed, based upon measurements of my hollow bolt and knowing the dimensions of the original bosses (Which were all bored out at the same time) I am concerned that there may be different diameter hollow bolts to the ones on my 97 and 98 vintage cars. If you can easily do it could you measure the o/d on one of your bolts. I'll try and compare it to mine (if I can get at them with a vernier). (Apologies if anyone else is having such problems. The brackets were desinged to have a tight tolerance on the bolt. But not that tight that any of the coating needed to be removed, definitely not all the way down to the metal !!!! ) Dave
  6. Paul, and indeed anyone else who is having minor difficulties getting the hollow bolts thru the brackets. I have checked 6 brackets (mine + what is currently a spare pair) and on 4 of them the bolt passed thru, with slight resistence, and on another 2 it would not go thru. I spent about 30 seconds with a round file and took off 0.1-0.2mm from the inner diameter of the coating on the bracket and the bolt then passes thru OK. Safety tip - DO NOT try and use a drill - if the bit is slightly larger than the hole then it is likely to "snatch" (dig in) and wrench the drill out of your hand. There is only a very small amount of nylon coating to remove, and a round file does it relatively easily (It could probably be removed using sandpaper wrapped around a 3/8" socket drive extension if you don't have a round file). Caterham would say TADTS, I put it down to very fine engineering tolerance on the metal brackets and excessive thickness variation of the nylon coating. If I ever do this again (unlikely) I'll leave a litle more tolerance for the coating, Dave
  7. R300 - not a problem - send them back and I'll sned your money back. Paul - that's strange - I checked a couple and had no issues, and the hole was sized based on bolt diameter and then measuring the thickness of coating at 4 or 5 points of a couple of items that had been done by the same coating company. Can you estimate by how much the hole is too small ? You could definitely use a round file and open up the hole by 0.5mm on diameter before you went thru the coating. (I can't actually remember the average thickness of the coating - but could get it re-measured if that would help). I'll try and check a pair of the ones that I have here sometime over the weekend to see if bolt passes thru without issue. Dave
  8. Start off by doing a pressure check on all 4 cylinders. They should all come out at relatively the same value. Don't worry (initially) too much about the absolute values - post them up and let an expert like Roger make comment. (Don't forget - do the compression test with throttle fully open), Dave
  9. I'm off on my travels with work again tomorrow. So nothing will happen until I return. There are 3 or 4 people on the list above who have not yet provided me with their address. I won't be sending any more brackets out until I get back next Friday - but it would be nice to have the addresses by then. There is also one set still available for sale. regards, Dave
  10. I'd be more tempted to use correct diameter 8.8 spec bolts rather than an M6 just on the basis that it fits thru the hole. Just feels wrong somehow. Seem to remember there was a discussion on this last year sometime. D
  11. OUt of interest - what crossflow engine spec is this, what type of piston, how many miles since any sort of refreshj etc etc .. .. There are a small number of reasons for this type of venting. D
  12. Dikko, thanks for the info. I'm calling somewhere tomorrow to check their "obsolete stock". IF no joy then I will phone your contact, D
  13. Do I need to bring anything from that list I sent thru to you ? D
  14. Ken, yes I have a set left (and one more after that I think). I'll put your name on the spreadhseet. Worst case scenario is you have one of my sets. Note - we're no longer in Gwynfryn. Just up the road now in Oswestry. SY10. D
  15. Elie, if it helps at all on cost - if you do land on a set, then if they get sent to me in the UK and can arrive by Saturday then I can drop them off on my way past on Sunday evening, D
  16. OK EVERYONE .. .. Packing/Postage comes to £4.00 If you message me your address I'll provide payment info (Bank transfer or cheque are preferred options) and get them sent off to you. I'm tied up with primary job all day on wednesday but will get them out a.s.a.p. Phil K / Steve T - yours will go tomorrow as I already have your addresses. Dave. p.s. - there are currently a couple of sets still unsold.
  17. Elie and I know of one in Belgium - though condition is NOT GOOD. Thanks for the info so far - I'll remove the installed (borrowed) spare and take some piccies before returning it. Looks like it's a "scrap yards here we come" time (if the prices of the geared versions don't get lower than those from the sources I've checked so far). D
  18. Phil, as long as Nick has not moved many pairs on at Stoneleigh today then you should be good. I'll know tomorrow morning when I see Nick, D
  19. Malcolm, I'm pretty suire that there is one in Wrexham .. .. will make a couple of phone calls on Tuesday (See who John Y uses - they seemes to do a reasonable job on mine). D
  20. I have a x-flow engine with standard fly-wheel, hence standard starter motor. Looking to replace it. If I go "like-for-like" where is the best place to go and what do I ask for ( a 9 or 10 tooth version) or .. .. Are there any alternatives out there which offer worthwhile improvements in performace (but which will not require a second mortgage). Thanks for any feedback, Dave
  21. Nick, nope. Can't find him on any list, but he's on it now as #18 if he so wishes. D
  22. OK. Now back from recent travels and have had chance to trawl thru this thread, mails, texts and the old thread from Vinnie. I know that there are a couple of peopls on the Vinnie thread that I had contact with earlier this year - and that at least one of them has not reacted to this posting in For Sale - so I plan to keep a couple of sets back for them "just in case" (Also for someone who currently has other priorities to fix on their car.). I currently have : Martin B, Lionel, Garybee Phil KIng Graham King Steve T Adam R Bill Blundell Paul WHite FinMAc Giles Ivaan Including the reserved stock for myself, NIck and those mentioned above that makes 17 pairs. If NIck or I make it to Stoneleigh tomorrow or Monday then there will be (max) 3 pairs available there - number being dependent on whether any more get sold on this thread beforehand. Price, as NIck said, is £45 per pair. Postage/packing is currently unknown. I will check on Tuesday but expect something <£5.00. Looks ase if the majority of sets will be posted. Payment - cheque or bk transfer is fine and details will be put up here (or blatmailed out) as soon as I know postage. There IS some "profit" in this venture - which will be detailed here once all 20 pairs have been sold - and this will be donated to NTL. If there is sufficient interest following the sale of these 20 pairs then I may get another batch manufactured - though that might have to wait until I can spare some more time away from the day job. Dave
  23. Or message me from here (I finally found net access in a bar ;-). D
  24. Back in UK at the weekend - so a quick "Boing" just in case anyone is interested. D
