  1. Sorry I can't answer the question but I will be interested in the answers as I occassionally have the same trouble. Standard 1.6 KSS Someone did once suggest it could be down to the timing but it is an intermittent problem in my case so therefore unlikely. Could it be differing fuels?
  2. Usually 18psi cold. I have to say I am running 032's but 185/60 14's and tried them at 18 and didn't like the handling of the car. It seemed to switch from understeer to oversteer without any reason round roundabouts. Stuck them all up at 19psi earlier today and it's worlds better. Tyre pressures are down to personal handling preferences so it's better to experiment although everyone says to try between 18 and 20.
  3. I never actually got to meet Arnie. Mainly cos I left the pub as he arrived and didn't that set something off ❗ Still I remember emailing him whilst I was looking into buying a 7 and received a very friendly reply. Arnie must be a legend in these parts and I guess that won't go away too soon. Anyway what I was posting to say was all the best in your business venture Arnie. Anyone who seels something which is obviously so important to them to start a business deserves every success and I am sure you will get it.
  4. Thanks to all. I knew that the answer would be found by asking here. The only trouble now is it means I have to go and find the new exhaust ❗
  5. I am thinking of trying to locate a 4-2-1 exhaust for my 1.6K ss. Having spoken to someone last night they seem to think that as the car was factory built and registered in July 97 it will need a catalytic converter on the exhaust for the MoT. Is this the case or can I get rid of it and run non-catalyst 🤔
  6. Just a quick thought knowing that I see a lot of posts about the accuracy of Caterham speedo's. If the speedo over reads how fast you are going would that not mean it shows you are doing more miles than you actually are? If so where does that leave you on a limited mileage insurance policy because you will have done less miles than your speedo says.
  7. Just a quick question as I can't afford to think about losing the engine in my 1.6 yet. Knowing everyone keeps talking about blade and blackbird engined Caterhams, I guess due to Honda reliability. Has anynoe ever thought about something like an Aprilia 1000cc v-twin instead? I know the outright power isn't there but the torque should be pretty useful and I think they sound better as well.
  8. Yes it's set in. In fact it set in about two days after getting the car. Without spending silly sums of money on things like blueprinting etc what is the best way to tune my little 135 bhp for a bit more go. It has the standard exhaust as far as I can tell so I guess the first step is to change the system or manifold. If so where is the best place to go for it and how much am I looking at?
  9. Probably been asked before but does anybody know what tyre pressures I should be running for 185/60 14 A032's. They are the soft as opposed to super soft compound. The people who fitted them reckoned on about 22 but I thought I had seen people saying they run about 17 to 18. thanks
  10. Don't know if this will help but I have a 99 passat which is the 96 onwards model so it may have a similar radio. To turn off the traffic announcement I have to press the traffic button so it goes into the program playing whatever the station is set within the traffic. Once it has gone into that just select one of the other modes. In my case usually cd and it turns off the traffic. Edited by - DuncanP on 4 Jun 2004 19:18:53
  11. don't know if they are of any use but on ebay there is a pair of seats going for £30 currently. search under caterham.
  12. not in the midlands but a guy who has just started working for us gets his new car hopefully this weekend. He has a 106 which he will be looking to sell. Near Gatwick though so a little out of the way. If you want any more info drop me a line.
  13. Knowing that a lot of people on here seem to run bikes as well as a 7 amongst other cars I am putting a few bits on here before I look to sell elsewhere. I currently have a pair of Dainese full pro boots size 42 in black approximately 18months old with little use. Slightly scuffed around the toes. Full pro one piece leather Dainese suit in black with the flouro orange patches. Euro size 52 which is UK chest size 42. Excellent condition with a slight scuff to the kevlar armour on the right shoulder which is barely noticeable. The suit has been worn about 6 or 7 times and is also 12 to 18 months old. This suit retailed at £1000 new. The suit comes with an integral spine protector. I can take photos and email them to any interested parties. I also have a two piece suit in black with orange blue and white panels, a couple of pairs of gloves and a pair of ladies trousers and jacket. All Dainese. I am open to SENSIBLE offers for these although the buyer will either have to pay the delivery charges or we can possibly arrange to meet with them. If I don't get sensible offers they go on Ebay. Email me through Blatchat if interested. Edited by - duncanp on 30 May 2004 18:51:07 Edited by - duncanp on 1 Jun 2004 16:50:04
  14. I am sure there have been various posts about this already but here goes again. I don't need to know how to do it as I am sure that the destructions are in the user manual but how easy is it to move the pedals. I reckon it needs doing this weekend as I think (read hope) that I am losing a bit of weight which means I am sitting slightly further back in the seat. Having an inside leg about the same as a coffee table this means that the pedals are slightly harder to reach so I hope I can move them nearer.
  15. I know the general answer will probably be " They all do that sir " as quoted to me yesterday by Cloud9 but travelling back from the Surrey meet last night my windscreen wipers didn't seem to know where they were going to stop after the intermittent sweep. First they stopped vertically upwards then when I turned them on to get them back to the bottom of the screen they would stop about 45 degrees and then at about 60 degrees before after a lot of fiddling about getting them back where they should be. Is this a common problem or should I look at getting a new relay?
  16. I will probably be going for 32's but I got told that the Yokohama A021's might work well on a Caterham even though they are a wet tyre. Also got offered Dunslip D01J's I think it was but I decided not to at over £100 each.
  17. I am sure this will have come up before now but I put the question to the usual team. Having just taken the 7 out for a run to the pub and come back in the dark I have noticed that like many cars the lights are not much good. What have owners done to upgrade the lights if anything? I know you can buy uprated bulbs but recall having heard tales in other cars of overloading fuses by doing so.
