  1. Hi All, Can anyone advise me of what is involved (ie best practice)in replacing this rubber gaiter and the parts I need to order if more than just the gaiter. I'm guessing I need to take that blooming great nut off with it's LB'ssss of torque. As ive just had a heart bypass I'm guessing it's more likely that my ribcage will snap instead of the nut coming undone 😬 Ouch, Many thanks as always, daveR.
  2. Blimey - it fetched well over £300 - I think I will leave mine unmade - should really flog it at that sort of price.
  3. Just noticed one on Ebay if anyone is still looking for this rare kit - I already have one but when I was looking got quoted over £300 bu the local model shop - eventually got mine shipped in from Hong Kong for about £190 but that was over ten years ago. link Tamiya Seven 1/12 kit Just noticed there's a SPA centre mirror on there as well daveR Edited by - Dave Rothwell on 30 Jan 2014 13:58:35

  5. Whats the best practice glue for sticking rubber to carbon. I have bought some rubber piping same type as used around the rear wings and am about to stick to the leading edge of a carbon aero. Hope not a dumb question - I'm sure there will be something that does the job really well, Many thanks daveR
  6. Not wishing to add more choices but - I bought my door from here filuma doors about 15 years ago - being grp it is really light to roller up and down, you can do it with one finger and it's a double door, plus the amount of light it lets in is fantastic even when fully down can fully recommend to anyone. No doubt you are sorted but if anyone else is in the market well worth a look. DaveR
  7. Many thanks, will sort this evening, DaveR
  8. Hi Martin That would be really great, in fact brilliant !!! If you have a paypal account I could pay you via paypal which would have my details or I can send an old fashioned cheque thing, plz send me a blatmail, Also have you a close up of your aero you could e-mail by any chance - your screen looks to sit lower tihan mine on your sig picture - no worries if you havent one, Many thanks DaveR Edited by - Dave Rothwell on 24 Jan 2014 16:39:20
  9. Now in the process of swopping my original perspex aero for a RIF one. I have a SPA carbon centre mirror but the original mounting pillar is too short to let the mirror clear the gap in the screen - The pillar is quite short measuring approx 2 inches from the base to the top of the screw thread (with the mirror removed). A pillar three inches (ideal) or more would be great, It looks like the one I have is probably the least common, most are longer. many thanks, daveR.
  10. Are you guys leaving the wiper motor and wiper scuttle mechanism on when you have the aero On the car?
  11. Hi Col - Sorry - I have already ordered the poppers from Softbits - Their sockets seem to average out around 20p to 40p each depending if you want stainless or nickel - Softbits Fittings Also ordered some trim and stuff from Woolies Cheers daveR Edited by - Dave Rothwell on 21 Jan 2014 13:15:55 Edited by - Dave Rothwell on 21 Jan 2014 13:17:08
  12. Thanks for all the info Stu -this sounds the way to go, Jonathan called lst night to collect a build manual and he also suggested mounting the central mirror to the screen foot - the rif foot is not raised but maybe i can run some thin rubber the full length of the aero to raise the foot slightlyto adjust for the poppers. I will have a look on softbits site for the poppers - thanks for the offer if i get stuck for the bits, Cheers, daveR
  13. Now thinking i would like to use some kind of double popper (?) to pop the centre of the screen onto the existing tonneau studs and then have another male fitment on top of the screen flange to pop the tonneau onto. If I leave the centre mirror mount attached to the scuttle and cut a small slot in the centre of the carbon flange to enable the screen to be slid in place around the centre mirror upright this would make it a very quick job to remove/refit the screen again if I wanted to put my full screen on and off in the future. It would only be remove the two front bolts and unpop the centre. Good- Bad ?? Edited by - Dave Rothwell on 20 Jan 2014 18:39:34 Edited by - Dave Rothwell on 20 Jan 2014 18:40:07

  17. Thanks for the helpful hints and thanks Paul, i can always do with some rubber Paul i have made a start and got to three of the five screws holding down the old screen. Have manage to see other two, they are well hidden behind the wiring loom but should be possible perhaps with help of a decent mirror. daveR
  18. Many thanks all, tonneau studs are rivited to scuttle THANK YOU, daveR
  19. I am on my second Banner in12 years, always on a conditioner whilst in garage though. DaveR
  20. I about remove my original perspex aero from my 1999 superlight and fit a new Rif aero i was lucky to buy. Any advice, instructions, or pictures of an existing installation would really help. The new Rif is undrilled, is it correct that it just bolts to the lower screen forward mounts and then clips onto the central tonneu studs . If so how do you replicate the studs for the tonneu if they are used by the screen. Perhaps by some kind of double stud as supplied with soft bits hoods ? Also i guess i will have to drill a hole in the screen base for my SPA centre mirror. Many thanks as always, Best regards, daveR Edited by - Dave Rothwell on 14 Jan 2014 21:45:04
