  1. Cheers - I will stick with the ACB10's. I can't rotate all the wheels as the front and rears are different sizes. The wheels are SLR split rims. I am the first to admit that the most I know about tyres is that they ought to be round not square so perhaps you can help me out some more. The fronts are 19550 -13's 78v and the rears 24545-13 89v. Whats the V designation all about ? How do I know which of the 15 compounds I've got from the tyre markings. I presume you have to order specifying nearside or offside cause of the rotation or do you have to buy in pairs. Thanks for helping out in the tyre novice class ! Dave. 2. Hi all, Bought my car last year ( SL 1.6 ) Avon ACB10's all round. Looks like the rears will soon be ready to replace so i would like to ask your expert opinion as to whether to stick with the ACB10's or not. The car is only used on the road and mainly in the dry as I've only the aeroscreen and no weather gear *cool*. I reckon in the wet the Avons could be a lot of fun ! They also must wear fairly quickly as the car has only done 5000 and I think the rears may be set two To be honest I would like to stick with the Avons as I understand they were fitted as original spec - also they are the business in the dry. If anyone can recommend a better alternative I would appreciate it. Also does anyone know a good supplier ( ie right price ) for the Avons. Many thanks, Dave.
  3. Chris, Their is one for sale on the superlight register thread on the chitchat section
  4. I agree with the above - thats the way I did it - got fixed up in under a month Cheers
  5. Perhaps you could email me your pics or a link to them as well. Friends ears pricked up when I mentioned your car. Many Thanks. Dave
  6. Many thanks for all the tips and advice appreciated as always, Cheers, dave.
  7. Hello all, I'm afraid I'm still back in the 60's when it comes to motive power in seven's. If anyone can enlighten me on a couple of facts on my Rover K-series supersport I'd be much obliged. I bought my superlight a few weeks ago and have the assembly manual for the car but nothing for the engine etc. Whats the recommended coolant to use ? Can you recommend a good manual for the engine ? Finally theres a very small oil weep that appears to be coming from behind the plastic timing belt cover where it meets the block just above the alternator. The oil is just running down the back of the plastic. Is this a common area for weeps ? I dont know the torque setting for the setscrews that join the cover to the block or I would check if they are all snugged up. Maybe there's another cause. Just wondering if this is common - I once had a Rover V8 that leaked around the dizzy area and it turned out this was fairly usual. This is a very very small trickle in fact its only a couple of drops a week but may as well have it right. Many Thanks for any help, Dave.
  8. I still have one- One of the last few made - Gave £1600 for it years ago. RW and Gold Drophead.
  9. Sorry I cant help but I have had something like this ( I think ). Only got my car three weeks ago and no tax mot etc. Took for MOT this week on a drive I would have guessed at 7 miles. Reading is 11.8 miles. ??? Also I was a bit suspicious of the MPH readout. Looked like 30 but reading 40. Looked like 110 but reading 150 ( Joke ! ). Interested to see your mail on this, Cheers, Dave.
  10. Hi all, First many thanks to all for your replies to my helmet question a few weeks ago. Todays dilemma is - I have never had a car with an immobiliser before. This is probably because the immobiliser would have been worth more than the car it was attached to. However my superlight has an immobiliser and / think the battery in one of the key fobs has gone duff. I expected in ignorance that you would just fit a replacement battery but the fob is a sealed unit. I guess you have to buy a new fob ?? Are the immobilisers standard units from caterham or are they likely to be different aftermarket units. The fob in question has Lucas and a number on the back. The keyring also has a little metal plate with a number on it - could be a serial for the fob. As you see I know nothing about immobilisers. There are probably many other things I dont know about as well so thanks for your patience. Cheers Dave.
  11. I was looking for a car the other week and went over to Richards. Richard seemed a really nice guy and the car went like stink. The only reason I can think of why I didnt buy it was because another came up with less miles and newer. Cost me substantially more though, so If you are after a SL I have to say that Richards is well worth looking at. Cheers, Dave.
  12. Richard - did you manage to sell your car !!
  13. Tim - Thanks for your kind offer. May well take you up on this. Richards car keeps sounding better to me. Thanks to all for the good help and advice - I'm V keen to buy one - just checking what I'm buying first ! Cheers, Dave.
  14. Richard, Sounds like this may not be just as radical as I first thought,ie my tendons may have a chance of staying attached. Need to do some homework re spec. I thought maybe a car this late may have a six speed box. Would appreciate a couple of pics emailed to drwell@aol.com. I'll have a look and if things look promising I'll give you a call. I'm near Bury Lancs. Whereabouts in W Yorks are you. Many Thanks, Dave.
  15. Opps, Richard - Sorry just been looking at the specs for a superlight and looks like there's no windscreen heater etc. Think the wife would pulvarise me if I brought your car home. Sorry for the trouble - and mistake. Sounds V nice anyway. Regards, Dave
  16. Richard, Not sure if your car is what I am looking for - I am not up with modern seven specs ( last rode in one in 1966 ). I am seriously looking at the moment and I am in Lancs. Can you e-mail me some pics and a more detailed spec eg g/box, wings etc. See my wanted posting of a few days ago. Cheers, Dave.
  17. Greetings earthlings, I have been off the planet for quite some time, therefore my last experience of riding in a Seven was my pals dads series 2 in the mid sixties. Having never forgotten passing Moggie minors - A30's - and Ford Prefects like a dose of salts - and breaking half shafts at a fearsome rate of attrition - I am now looking for a Seven of my own. I freely admit to being behind the times with regard to current specs however if you have anything similar to my scribblings below - also for sale would help - please feel free to mail me. Was thinking of Vauxhall but always open to persuasion. I'm in Lancs so Lancs, Yorkshire, Cheshire etc would be good. Car must be immac/A1, low miles. Ready to collect If I can find the right one. E-Mail some pics if you have some. Many Thanks. Dave Rothwell. :) Probably 1996 or younger BHP around 160 + Carbs De Dion Full wings Low miles Aluminium + paint or Paint + Alternative colour nose and stripe FIA rollbar Full Harness Bucket seats ( leather ) Weather gear + Tonneau Heated Screen
