  1. Couple of halogen floodlights.
  2. Just checked mine and its fixed in place with a jubilee clip.
  3. My car came fitted with Apollo. Over the years I have removed it and refitted. Have also removed head etc. No sign of any foam under cam cover, didn't even know about it. Have covered over 30000 miles without it.
  4. Mine first manifested itself in almost identical circumstances. Given the nature of the problem diagnosis is probably through recurrence. Still not fixed mine but the car is off the road anyway. I think the main problem is that the 'click' is not a singular cause with a unique fix When I have time I think that I will try one of the fixes advocated by the veterans of this fine club.
  5. Been looking for a cycle wing special as it is the closest to what I own. One of the Chaps in our local model shop has visited the Tamiya offices/ factory in Japan. He has some great pictures of the in house car museum Seems that the coach built series have components from several manufactures not just Tamiya. (bit like the real thing). It is believed that a reissue is a lot more work than it is for one of their in house plastic models.
  6. PS. Car is a 1997 Supersport
  7. My third Banner gave up 2.5 years ago. Local factors found my latest one. Its a couple of mm taller than the Banner but it fits with no mods. Given the fact the leads are now nearer the bonnet I have used a strip of cage protector over the tops of the terminals. Battery is: NUMAX CXT GOLD, 896CXT, 32Ah, 390A. Think it is meant for a ride on lawn mower so the chaps in the shop tell me. From what I remember it cost me about £40, 2.5 years ago.
  8. Mine comes out once you remove the self tappers. Some cars have a cover over the fuel filler that is also self tapped to the boot floor. If you can get under the car the underside of the boot floor can be seen and perhaps any signs of silicon. What about trying something like a filleting knife (long, flexible, sharp) from the underside. The boot floor lies on flat unpainted aluminium sections so the knife wont damage any paint or powder coating. Perhaps a gentle tap from the underside using a rubber mallet might also assist.
  9. Had a similar problem a few years ago with my 1997 k series super sport. In my particular case it was a head gasket problem. The gasket had failed close to the plastic dowel allowing oil into the coolant but no coolant into the oil. Dave Andrews sorted it all out. However the car was still drivable due to the nature of this type of head gasket failure. I think that I had the first sign of a problem in May and eventually got the car to Milton Keynes in October, covered about 3000 miles in that time.

    Wets

Another for Yoko 021R's. Got us through a very wet 1500 trip last year to the Le Mans Classic and a bit more. Don't think we had a day without rain and some of it very heavy. Even in the worst wet conditions I have ever driven the 7 in I had no problems with these tyres. As good in the wet as ZV1's in the dry on my car.
  11. It was about 5pm. My son is working in London and did the traditional day out. He did send me a pic and the car has a cage with provision for competition numbers on the side. Looks a nice car.
  12. Green/yellow nose band with full cage. My son spotted you pm today
  13. Mine did eventually rot through (1997 car with 4:1 collector). No big problem as everything stays in place, is was a few years ago but think we just got a bit of a rattle from that side of the car. Think I got a new one from Red Line. I had thought that it would be easy to source locally but that was not the case a few years ago. Think the Red Line one arrived next day. ( Always had great service and advice from those boys)
  14. Replaced one of the pipes a few years ago. Gave up trying while fitted to car. It was easier to sort out as a bench job. In the end I replaced plate as well. Have a felling that the original (1997ish) and the replacement (2008ish) were different spanner sizes. The original was larger than the replacement regarding spanner sizes. Once off the car the job is relatively easy to do.
  15. Had similar type of failure. Dave Andrews sorted mine and combined it with one or two upgrades. In replacement I was able to watch and learn how an expert does the job. I had oil in water but no water in the oil. In the case of my failure it was due to a tiny split near the front plastic dowel. I remember Dave saying the same problem can be caused by another type of failure which I now have forgotten. The other failure I think needed some kind of tube inserting. If you can get the car to Dave and he can fit you in, then I would go for it.
  16. Another one for Rudheath MOT, Northwich.
  17. I think it is explained very clearly.
  18. Speedchills have made battery charging available in the past. Usually in their office cabin. As Steve says just take your charger withyou

  20. One of mine never stays closed. For the first time ever it was picked up at recent MOT. Seems its one of those things that if you don't have one it can' t fail but if you do it can. It was obviously a simple fix to get it through the test.
  21. Try a local Motor Factors. What you want is what they do ie. their main business is to supply the smaller garages/individuals who service all makes and carry very little stock. I know our local ones are excellent. Out of interest I was chatting to some fellow club members several years ago at Le Mans. It was a revelation to them that anyone other than Caterham could supply replacements/spares for our cars and that such places exist. One guy had never heard the term 'motor factor' (he was a bit of a city type though).
  22. Had the same even though mine seems to be threaded. Agree totally with prangerman regarding solution.
  23. First time I tried doing this job I had similar problems due to the fact I didn’t appreciate how the nipple and gun clip together. You tend to need a firm single direction movement to engage and disengage. The nipple is obviously a small slightly bulbous shape which engages in the sprung cross cut fitting in the end of the gun. Watch out for too much twisting as you can snap the nipple which is not to difficult to replace if you do.
  24. Repaired my 6 speed 4 years ago, excellent service.
  25. Can't help with which one. However 4 years ago my 1997 suppersport system sprang a leak on one of the pipes. To undo the pipe at the sandwich plate its probably easier to remove the plate. Therefore its best to replace the whole lot while you'r at it. Found it hard to match replacements due to the variations that are available. From my personal experience Red Line were the most helpful in establishing what replacements I needed.
