  1. Peter, you said heaters twice... David, you have 1 minute on " Cross flows are rubbish"... My car doesn't have anything worth having on this scale 😬 Just as well I can't read D. Robertson MSc, Phd. Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  2. yes it should, but not if you are in a hard water area- as you are Cagey- liable to lay down scale on the transfer surfaces = hot spotting. ☹️ Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  3. Sounds about right. In reality my catch tank gathers virtually all of it though, and my underside doesn't need waxoyling 😳 Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  4. I would have thought it merely is the idle needs adjusting, 10 second job, the carbs are only to c6ck if the performance is lacking Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  5. I get 4 bar cold, 2- 2 1/2 warm and 1 steadily at long runs. Oil and a good rocker cover gasket makes the difference 😳 Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense Edited by - puremalt on 22 Apr 2004 22:29:11
  6. You could try balancing the carbs yourself, there really isn't that much to it. I got the balancer from Burton Power Products (about £30 ish), and it takes me, (10 bananas on the end of my palms), about 5 mins to do it. Take the plunge, it's what x flow ownership is about. 7. Seconded. Wear some resistant gloves! ☹️ Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  8. Yes, put it in a catch tank/bottle whatever or you will pi55 oil everywhere and if you have a garage then the floor will be covered. This way you can always pour the blown out oil back in if its ok. X flows loose enough (ho humm...) oil without wasting any. I left about 2 litres at Llandow last w/end. 9. No. The bolts are A/F however, so don't try using anything metric on them. You can get copper gaskets from Roger King, or from Burtons too. Torque? Do them up with an allen key until your wrist throbs is my advice, but put some copperslip on then first. It is probably the most straightforward job you will do. Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  10. Didn't someone mention recently that 32 s are too sticky for a live axle, Saw a colleage rip a linkage off one on saturady at Llandow when running 32 s with an LA. I ask for info only... Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  11. I'll second that. After a respray they forgeot to do the coach lines. Compared to my original salvaged nosecone the difference with coachlines is astonishing. Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  12. Excellent. I will have printed some photos of yesterday to bring with me too. Particularly for Chris ☹️ Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  13. Is there a diagram anywhere of the rear hub/bearing assembly? Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  14. Yeah, I think it must be the bearing too, it came to me whilst dozing this morning. I have tried moving the wheel whilst off the ground, it really didn't move at all so it may be something else. Funny Tim, it was on the passenger side..... I don't think you were venting though 😬 I only did 4 laps with the lower pressures, aas soon as i opened up, the noise started as I left the bus stop complex. Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense

    Sump bump

You could try draining it, removing it and or get a replacement. It may be the ideal time to get it dry sumped of course. Bad luck. 😳 Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  16. Just back from Llandow (thanks Dave). I came home because the car makes a rattling/metallic 'ching' noise on sharp right turns from the right rear. Under way it's fine and gentle r/h corners no problem. No noise under power or braking- apart from vroom vroom. Gave it a gentle run home and of course it sounds fine. Had it on axle stands when I got home and all seems well, a few bits torque checked etc. My only suggestion is the suspension mount. after 20 or so laps at 'battle speed' , some with a passenger what do you think. Car is a s/sprint 1989, with new bilstiens and yoko A021s all round. Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  17. What are your tyre pressures? Do you have adjustable shockers? Have you had your steering geometry checked? Or do you just enter roundabouts too fast? 😬 You should be able to steer the car on the gas on a roundabout. Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  18. Mine look like this today after my time at Llandow 😬 Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  19. The book says 3.3 litres for the Ford X flow. I agree with you both, when refilling it is slow and always gets me thinking that it is near the capacity when it never is. Therefore 2/3 of a 5 litre can will do it. Mind you I regulate it by how much the breather tank catches in the first blat afterwards! 😬 Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  20. I have 70 series 021rs and find that the ride is improved, and handling excellent. The grip if they get warm enough (not at present) is astonishing, far greater than my limits. I too have a x/flow, SS with the same BHP, so I think that could be your way ahead. Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  21. We had a post on this about a month back. As far as I remember the silicone based fluid had a general no no consensus. I certainly would never mix the fluids, even if they are the same type due to moisture absorption of the old. It's not too expensive to drain the old out and renew with fresh. I've recently changed mine with a dot 5.1. Unsure about the calipers I'm afraid. I can't think that thiey will be the same, but I'm sure someone will tell me I'm talking cr4p soon. Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  22. Excellent posting guys, thanks a lot *thumbup* Mind you I have a x flow so it runs on any oil with the consistency of minestrone soup. 😳 p.s Like the Bovine Evacuation comment. Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense Edited by - puremalt on 18 Mar 2004 15:16:41
  23. Ta Graham, had me wondering yesterday that did Clamshells...You Know It Makes Sense
  24. I concur . Mind you I have AO21Rs on a supersprint, but size is same. Excellent!
  25. Good thinking. Mine is a 234 cam. Head has been gas ported a while back..... Oh crikey should mine be different and not the CC spec? Excellent!
