  1. hi Graham, are you coming back for a play next season ?
  2. well they have arrived ready for next season, looks like most of list 1b tyres vanish after next season and become list 1C instead as they are being classed as non road legal. List 1A is also taking a battering with AD08 going after next season as well.
  3. Borough 19 as the host is Rogers home club, and i'm sure he has competed there already.
  4. Umm can't remember..... it seems to have slipped my mind
  5. I don't think that dropping event's is ever on a numbers alone, however I think that no matter which event's are kept or dropped, it will always be contentious. Trying to balance the number of events in the championship, will always be difficult as some say 13 is too few and others say 15 is too many, never a happy medium for everyone. Aintree last year came back on as Castle Combe clashed with another event, like wise this year Aintree was a reserve event. It's a fact of life that with every decision there will some on both sides of the fence. Like many, I have mixed feelings over Goodwood, and I can see lot's of soul searching before any entries go in for many. I for one will miss Wiscombe (only been once) and Epynt, but maybe in years to come these will make a return to the calander, but if event's don't attract sufficient numbers then they may not provide a representative result for the championship..... but then that's only me view....... .
  6. Cheer's Simon, We don't see that bit, just the change from draft to approved with little changes. Just goes to show what a great and difficult job the comp sec actually does. Just don't tell Paul yet....
  7. Strictly speaking the regulations are Draft until they have been submitted and approved by the MSA. however it's not often that the regulations have enforced changes at our level of competition. I'm not jealous of Matthew's & Pauls task of wading through all the comments which have been made to come to any form or reasonable decision...
  8. Gent's I think the complaint in previous years was that there were too many events at 15 , whilst wiscombe clashes with Blyton in september , I don't think Epynt would clash. Only 15 from us competed at Epynt this year, which is fairly typical from previous years. Whilst I could not do Epynt anyway next year i'm sure if a significant number of competitors i.e. more than 25, wanted to compete at Epynt i'm sure the Comp Secs would consider, however from past experience its doubtfull that number of competitors would want to compete at Epynt.
  9. There is no control tyre so any List 1A tyre is allowed Upto 14" rims, Yokohama A539's in 185/60r13 is the tyre of choice. LSD's are no problem and can be fitted. you also can run an Aeroscreen in replacement to a full windscreen.
  10. I think that Northern Banana has the new (2014) standard academy car, which as far as i'm aware is <125BHP and a 5 speed. so would be class 1, but i'm sure the New, Newer or Old Comp Sec will be along to confirm.
  11. I think you'll find that Class 2 actually attend more events than any other class. And there is no collusion in which events to enter, other than twisting Alan de Hat Bowler to venture north to Anglesey this year. It's a simple fact of life that if there arn't enough entries from us at a specific venue to provide a representative field then it is fine that it can be reviewed and replaced. so if anyone wants the not so popular venues to stay on the calendar they need to actually enter them when they are on........
  12. Sorry that was meantvas more of a question than a statement
  13. You are probably only looking at new CAMS & verniers, Might be worth talking to Dave Gemzoe, other than that not sure or anyone else. in the north... Other option would be Northampton Motorsport or similar in the midlands.
  14. Whilst on Megajolt running on carbs, this might give you some basic info.
  15. Carefull , my concern for your thoughts of me might lead accidentally add a few minutes onto your times next year
  16. Just shows how close in real terms it was between you & Oli this year.
  17. Over this years competition 59 competitors have had 380 entries, Class 1 to 3 are the best supported classes both by number of competitors and competitive entries, with Class 5 a close runner up. (With Class 2 having the hightest number of entries and entries per competitor. ) Class 4 which had a robust number of entries had the lowest number of entries per competitor. In real terms 5,6 & 7 are specialist classes which will always have lower number of entries. there were four competitors this year who entered the championship but did not actually compete, including 3 novices. As far as the rule changes go Class 1 to 3 probably offer the most interest to the majority of those looking to compete but that need not be at the expence of existing competitors. It would be interesting to know what changed the minds of those who did not compete over the last few years as I suspect it's more to do with financial pressures than minor changes to the regulations. Competition in the lower classes is still one of the most cost effective forms of motor sport, and the best ambasadors for the championship should be those who compete, A great group of people who generally get along, every single one of which would go out of there way to help there nearest rival. Yes we all bluster at times, and some have more vocal opinions than others at times, but face it we're either certifiable or addicted or both....... Roll on the start of the 2015 season...
  18. Agreed, I'm happy if I come close to the Class 1 times, whilst in Class 2 . And do a victory dance if I manage to go quicker than Class 1......
  19. Graham, I agree, no matter how many times you look at this there are multiple ways to contridicate yourself. I can see the regulations coming out as similar to last year but with a class reference max power of 155 BHP, and a prohibition on Multiple Thottle body assembly (Direct or Indirect) except for the factory installed Sigma upgrade or R300k types both subject to Compsec review and approval that they comply with the spirit of the class. (as a trial for 2015)
  20. No time on my hands at all, just good at multi-tasking.....
  21. I think after the tie break round, it would either be a tie or the sum of all scores.
  22. Based on the Bowler Hat System.i've done some test scores based on this years events. using 5 events, top 10 new P/B scoring on each event (10 Points 1st, 1 point 10th) Gill Elwell - 46 Oliver Wright - 45 Chris Bramall - 42 Shaun Elwell - 41 Simon Harrison-Moore - 30 Alan Bowler - 29 Lynn Gilbert - 29 Roger Legg - 28 John Bransfield - 28 Mike Sankey - 17 Using 7 Events, top 10 new P/B scoring on each event (10 Points 1st, 1 point 10th) Oliver Wright 59 Gill Elwell 56 Chris Bramall 54 Shaun Elwell 53 Roger Legg 31 Simon Harrison-Moore 30 Alan Bowler 29 Lynn Gilbert 29 John Bransfield 28 Mike Sankey 17 using this system it is possible for the edward lewis to draw. however I would recommend only the top 5 events count, with event 6 being the tie break.
  23. But David in that lays the crux of the matter..... how many standard 7's are there. Class 1 might still have a couple but other than that i'd doubt theres many in class 2. just like in the wider 7 land not many 7's stay standard, so if Class 1 & 2 are going to be standard it's going to be a very quite championship.
  24. The other option with the Tech Forum is to have a private area for these discussions which is only visible to registered competitors, Some people will have strong feelings on certain subjects and in all honestly there has been more open an honest discussion on the forum than I think you would get compressed into a short period. I think going forwards that a combination of the two might work best, a private online forum as a discussion group, then a formal agreement of any changes at a Tech Forum proir to the Awards.
  25. I should point out that both Sigma's and Zetec's were specifically allowed to have 155 BHP last season. Whilst I didn't get there until towards the end of the season and still need the carbs resetting and a power run to get there, effectivly I think i'm already capable of 155BHP. A number of people have invested money in tweeking there cars to fit within the 155BHP when they had undertaken permitted modifications which resulted in being of the 155BHP but not in breach of the regulations as no power limit was specified within the 2014 regulations for these cars. So whilst they have been gentleman and complied with an implied limit which was unenforcible I feel that it would be unacceptable to reduce the power limit below the established 155BHP. By all means restrict what modifications can be made if appropriate but don't penalise those who have already invested and complied with last years regulations both stated and implied.
