  1. Has anyone had a power run done in the Yorkshire Area and give me any recommendations of who to use. Currently having some engine work done to my XFlow and once run back in I want to verify what the BHP plus torque curve is plus any neccessary Webber tweaks it may show up. 5. I agree that they are needed and the investment in my safety is'nt a question or problem, but what I don't want to do is a) if there not compulsary is to buy one's which are a higher spec than neccessary or b) if they are compulsary buy one's which arn't high enough spec to be accepted. 6. I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this or in Tech. However here goes. Next year I will hopefully be doing the speed championship as a newbie so i'm slowly sorting out everything i'll need. One item i've come accross in the MSA Blue book under sprint's and hill climbs is the following :- 28. Throughout practice and Competition, all Drivers must wear clothing, helmet and goggles complying with C©-77-101 or, where appropriate, the specific Class regulations for Drag Races. Competitors are strongly recommended to wear flame-resistant gloves (not mitts or gloves with open backs). (Gloves mandatory 2010.)All these items must be produced for inspection and approval at scrutineering. Race Overall's and helmets i'm sorted with but the question area is the gloves. will they be mandatory in the L7SC next year and if so is there a specification that I should be looking for when purchasing ? 7. Now I understand, i'll measure again, must be getting mixed up between the threads on ground clearance and the ones on rake :( Newbie Owner of Q469 WET Caterham 1.6 Crossflow in Ali except for the red bits.
  8. Well just been on the floor measuring the rake angle (finally) The measurement from the underside of the sump to the floor is 85mm The Measurement from the lowest point of the rear frame to the floor is 115mm. So if i'm understanding it right i've currently got 30mm of rake. The OD difference between 185/60 and 185/70 is 37mm which would make 18.5mm difference to the wheel centre height and about 15mm to the measurement at the sump. So if I change all the tyres to the same profile I should come back to a rack angle of about 15mm, so it's either 185/60 or 185/70's all way round. So it's either Yokohama A539's in the 185/60 or Yokohama S306 in the 185/70. I will be using the car for both pleasure and sprinting so i'll need to go for a list 1A tyre, so i'm unsure which way to go, I don't think that there will be much handling difference however it will effect the speedo if I go to 185/60's Has anyone used the Yokohama S306's ? 9. I've just got my suit from EBAY, to the FIA 8856-2000 standard, cost £86. Newbie Owner of Q469 WET Caterham 1.6 Crossflow in Ali except for the red bits.
  10. I think the car has mainly run on 60's as it's done most of it's mileage either on a sprint / hill climb circuit or on the back of a trailer. So with the "Race" 60's on the rake was probably correct but now it's got it's road tyre's back on it's probably got too much rake on, i'll have to have a measure when it's on the flat. (The car's only done around 200 miles per year for the last 7 years, majority of that is either on the track or the return trip to the MOT testing station) Newbie Owner of Q469 WET Caterham 1.6 Crossflow in Ali except for the red bits.
  11. I'm not sure if I have or not, however with the car I've been given a "Race" set of 185/60's as well. I'll have to check what the rake angle is with the current road tyres as it could be that with the different front / back profiles that i've actually got too much rake. Tyre Sizes

On my 1990 Super 7 Sprint Crossflow, In the handbook it details 185/70 R13's. I'm looking at new tyres which will be selected from the List 1A selection. However fitted on the car at the moment it has 185/70 R13's on the back and 185/60 R13's on the front, has anyone any idea why it would be set up like this ? Does it improve breaking / Cornering or is it just wrong. Newbie Owner of Q469 WET Caterham 1.6 Crossflow in Ali except for the red bits. Edited by - CaterBram Jnr on 7 Sep 2009 07:06:06
  13. Just found a link to the seatbelt's i've got fitted on the Caterham site . Seatbelt - 4 Point Harness - Black Newbie Owner of Q469 WET Caterham 1.7 Crossflow in Ali except for the red bits.
  14. The seat belt's i've got fitted arn't inertia reels but are the old style four point seatbelts with a convential seat belt pushbutton in the middle. From what i was told it's the release method rather than the seat belt type, certainly had me confused as I would have thought an FIA approved multipoint harness would provide a much safer system. 15. Fantastic, I don't need to worry about refitting the competition belt's, as i'll be using the car for both road and speed championship. Newbie Owner of Q469 WET Caterham 1.7 Crossflow in Ali except for the red bits.

    Seatbelt's

Is it legal to use an FIA Competition Seatbelt Harness with quick release buckle in normal road use. When I purchased my car the owner had reinstalled the normal road legal seatbelts, (even through he gave me the competition seat belt harness), and advised that the MOT stations had recieved a reminder that competition belts should not be fitted in road cars. has anyone come accross this ? Are race seatbelts legal to use on the road or are we all risking it on the way to events ? Newbie Owner of Q469 WET Caterham 1.7 Crossflow in Ali except for the red bits.
  17. Cheer's Nick, I'll have a search around the net, and see where I can pick one up. Newbie Owner of Q469 WET Caterham 1.7 Crossflow in Red and Ali.
  18. I'm after some advice, i'm looking at having an immobiliser fitted to my caterham, it's at present got nothing, What would you recommend Newbie Owner of Q469 WET Caterham 1.7 Crossflow in Red and Ali. Edited by - CaterBram Jnr on 30 Aug 2009 21:10:19
