  1. Thanks I'll give MWS a call. Cheers Minty www.smallclassiccar.co.uk
  2. an odd question.. I am rebuilding a childrens scale XK120 Jaguar and it has puny pram like wheels which need to be replaced. My client has asked for wire wheels that look more car like but we need to retain the 12.5" x 2.25" tyre size. Does anyone know where I can get these wheels made. A last resort could be steel rims of the same size.. again any ideas where to source? Thanks in advance Minty
  3. I seem to recall a dissintegrating gasket in the sump of my 1.8k partially blocked the oil pick-up - might be worth checking if the (likely) sender cause proves not to be the issue.

  8. Any recommendations out there for reasonably priced milling machines - it needs to be capable of machining ally bar, only moderate use and reasonable price. Or sites for 2nd hand machines. Are the Micro Mills any use ? Cheers Chris Edited by - minty on 7 Mar 2006 21:18:48
  9. Thanks Tony, I dont mind finishing carefully by hand although its hard to get the surface finished flat. Can a pillar drill be used to mill ?
  10. solid aluminium bar 300mm x 30 x 75. Need to cut a 33mm square notch in the bar. I have tried drilling then sawing and filing and (apart from being bored) the results are poor. Is there a better way?
  11. Not captive nuts as i recall but easy enough to reach to undo.
  12. I tried out different heights of screen using perspex slotted/taped onto the uncut stanchions, when we got to the preferred height cutting and shaping the metalwork was easy, we ended up getting new glass cut professionally. I was worried about water getting in between the laminations through the top edge and applied some varnish to seal it. Dont use the windscreen washer! I really liked the look and its dead easy to swap back to the full screen. Its currently on a friends 7 I'll try to get some pictures if you like ?
  13. extremely useful, have saved a copy. Thanks again. All i have to do now is apply the theory!
  14. thanks for this chaps - the stuff arrives tomorrow so I'll have a play and let you know !! Richard - sounds like my planned approach, thanks. Presume the 'former can be made of wood or anything that wont melt!? Myles - you say the material used for Mk1 was a pain, what is Mk2 made of ?
  15. I'm making headlight covers (not for a 7!) Is Plexiglass different to Extruded Acrylic sheet?
  16. Any helpful hints ? I have the shape i want and hope that i can heat the sheet to drape it over then trim... sounds easy.. Thinking of using a heat gun then trimming with coping saw and file. Hints welcome!
