  1. preasure at 18-20psi ??? is the tyre rubber very old??? are the rear shoes any good.. do the pistons in the drums still work OK? ... put on 4 car posts and try to rotate wheels whilst gently applying breaks.. do the rear drums stop you rotating (give it some) the rears at just below the same pedel point as fronts.

  5. the 5x is heavier than the 4x box.. about 15kgs IIRC... on short curvy tracks are you going to ever use 4th yet even have a chance for 5th... dont know the answers for the other questions.. Peter T maybe.. or anyone else

  7. looks simular.. mines black but they prob do differrent colours.. I had a weld on QT boss fitted to my Westie.. I had the column machined down to the ID of the boss so the new column head slid snugly over the top, then got the father in law (profesional welder) to mig/tig (I dunno) it in place.. worked fine for me

    You can just buy the LSD centre and change over your CWP to keep the same ratios.. if you mech minded some do it themselves but I wold say get RoadnRace,Ratrace,SPC or someone set it up right I run a Quaife ATB diff n its fine for me.. but Im not track monster, just a wanabe. I run 3.6 but I do alot of touring miles n cruising revs are important.. http://hometown.aol.com/DVAndrews/index.htm will help alot.. have a look at the gearing progam.. enter your Gbox ratios (or best guess from teh BGH page) and see the differance between the 2 diffs
  9. Hijack... Anyone awaire of a large tank that might have been fitted to a mid 80's LA... When at Freestyle gary commented that the tank was big, appears much bigger than he would expect for a std tank (I guess from above 35ltrs)? having never driven to empty the most Iv ever filled her up with was about 32ltrs. anyone? ta
  10. I got these,first set lasted; a 400-500Km drive to a race track.. 2 days abuse¨ 1/" of the way back before they split and exited stage left... I mean left, gone, no trace of, axle left floating on bolt with the metal sleave around it a 1/2" of fresh air. But I will add that this could EASLY be instal issues as I didnt use any grease or oil when fitting and I think 1 was kinked upon install, but it was 20:00+ n I was leaving for the track at 07:00 next day n had work calling me for stuff to do that night so far my 2nd set has lasted the rest of the summer, 1500 miles I guess, no issues so far, just needed the bolt doing up a few turns to get tight again

  13. I plan on draining the petrol tank before the car goes away for the winter (having read the FAQs) http://www.lotus7club.co.uk/archives/fullstorage.htm but What is the best way to do this then???? safty tips??. methods?? Its a XF, LA on carbs. Thanks Chris

  15. I run a 234 and its a very happy engine.. happy at 2000 in 4th and puts out 160ish bhp at 7200 *thumbup*
  16. yes you should get rid of the std 1300 pistons.. dont know about powermax, but if it was my engine I would like to have forged just for the knowledge that they will be OK.
  17. only if you are running a 5x.. if its a 4x then you cant find it cos there ent one

I also got mine here http://www.blatchat.com/T.asp?id=53937 cheap as chips n the 2nd set appears to be going well (first set was a install problem n split) worth checking if the powerflex ones have the metal washer moulded into them like the std rubber ones, as the deflex ones dont and can be hard to install.. the inner tube is also seperate in the deflex items but this is not a issue. Ps 1 set is 2 pair.. sold for MGs where you change LHS and RHS at same time

  20. I'll give ya 50quid for ya XF, I need a spare.. but serously.. not alot if its not exotic.. which a CC 135(cough!)bhp engine is not, it will need a rebuild before putting into another car due to cheap pistons/rings etc 'Going round the corner givin' it a handfull'
  21. loads in the seach if you want to dig... propshaft bell housing + spacer tunnel carpet + ali under plate depending on year of chassis a chassis mod aswell (after 90 I htinkis OK, not 100% sure/year) loose 15kg of fat to compensate for the extra bulk your car is now carrying overall may not be worth it.. but saying that Iv done it n love it.. BHG E7 long gear ratios.. GREAT . But I also do alot of touring mile.. Finland-> UK -> Finland or around varous parts of EU/Scandi. if you just poodle around your area of the UK I would stick with the 4x and enjoy the noise 'Going round the corner givin' it a handfull'
