  1. Good point, it's funny how with all this modern stuff( tb's, ecu's, electrickery) it's easy to forget it's just a bunch of flashy carbs!
  2. Yes, Jenvey setup . I'm surprised it's as far out as it is...
  3. Just a further thought... If I can't get the pre '75 loophole, I have and MBE 9A4 ecu , am I right that I can have a switchable map in there for road use only...i.e. mot time?
  4. If you didn't know Caterham in 1990....it was a bit sketchy to say the least! I have asked Martin to help. I suspect the customer got bumped up the list by knowing someone. HPC's weren't supposed to be sold either CKD or without the driving course...unless you convinced them to sell you one! Interesting little project though.
  5. Here is the build sheet showing component form, but with a factory build chassis number.Well, it should but the build sheet won't transfer. I'll try again.Invoice and build.pdf
  6. That's why I always thought it was a factory job, but Martin the archivist has confirmed it was supplied ckd to a guy in Poole. I think I will have to ask for an official confirmation for dvla.
  7. Wow! Thanks all. to answer a few points raised: Thanks Shaun, that's the section I am using, I'm on the right track. Seven Wonders and JP, thanks but mine predates that. Vin is an old style on 5LC 5181 HPRD, so not enough numbers. Jonathan, July 4th 1990 Stephen, good idea, I'll give Rob a shout. 7 wonders, as a Jersey car it isn't on th3 list so doesn't show up. I have my data and details and will go back in the morning. Report back soon.

  9. Evening all, My BDR had it's MOT today and failed, quite comprehensively, on emissions. The tester used the analyser and 1990 levels, but checking back can I appeal this as; Kit or amateur built cars used before 1998 must be inspected , for emissions alone, as "Registered before jan 1975" The test for cars built pre 1975 is a visual assessment of exhaust smoke only. I have the build sheet and sales invoice from Martin Phipps showing is was supplied as a component car in April 1990. Does that sound like a valid argument?
  10. Here's a , probably dumb, question... If you put a turned down exit pipe on a standard exhaust would that make any difference to drive by readings? Like Roger, my exhaust is on the proper side and therefore blows to the outside of clockwise circuits. Certainly Goodwood and, I suppose, others take readings on the outside of the circuit because that's where the complaints come from.,
  11. You will be amazed just how much that lot weighs!
  12. Listen to uncle Rog, Mike. he knows the story of BDR carbs! Sorted mine years ago and they were spot on afterwards.
  13. I'm very pleased with mine, only had to repack it once in, oohh, 5 years. It's the sucky end that gets me in trouble!
  14. I run the 20/ on 8" rims for road and track and they are fine. Look a little stretched, but no problems when running .
  15. Hi, yes I have. But I had new primaries made at the same time as the originals were quite small really. But I did try with the original collector and central did work.
  16. #5, 15 hot on the rear Guy? Wow! That is low. does it not lean on the sidewalls and feel loose?
  17. I run mine at those pressures, including at Snetterton and they are fine like that.

#13,yeah, my prices were always the best when I had no stock.....
  19. Thanks guys, honestly tried all of those- including the Ford sticky pad from the local dealer. Degreased the glass and mirror an' all. Actually, not tried th3 Loctite stuff...will do that. Failing that it's a suction one I think.
  20. Just fitted the screen back on after about 15 years.... I cannot get the sticky pad/ mirror combo to work. Done all the cleaning, warming, clamping guff. are there alternatives to this mirror? My aero screen scuttle mount one clashes with the glass, so that's out.
  21. Does anyone have any raspberries? My granola is rubbish without. Willing to pay good money for nice ones....No frozen stuff please.
  22. Plus vat, £400, plus delivery, £300....
