  1. Well, it is set stiff! Perfect for a drift car, you may want to move it to the other nipple and see the difference.Iit does look close from that angle, similar to mine, but different if that make sense. What is the actual gap? It looks like the rim is very inset to me...What are they?
  2. Thanks Simon, your reading is what I thought too...But the DVLA website is a bit contradictory. my plan is to go with the " obvious" method and see if they throw it back at me.
  3. As I have to register my car in the UK, ex Jersey, I assume I will need and IVA. However, as it is a 1990 Cosworth HPC, aka Trigger's broom, will they test against the 1990 standard (and if so, where can Ifind that)
  4. That's interesting thanks. I hadn't considered the twin blade going softer yet- makes sense though. why would anyone go towards the hard end though? The car would push like hell and you'd have to loosen up the back then...It would be all over the place( unless you ran it rock hard?) All the factory set Sevens I have driven understeer too much for me, then snap at the back when you try to provoke it not to, although they do steer nicely. Just my impressions.
  5. I have a Meteor bar and tend to run it in full soft which works spot on for me, I have tried it all the way through the range and settled there, especially on track in the dry. Out of interest Simon, do you have the comparative figures for the other colour Caterham bars?
  6. Hi, have you any more details or specs?
  7. I have a pair of Saturday Revival tickets just become available with roving grandstand passes. Face value £179 each. Also a twin room at Premier Inn Fareham from 16th and 17th Sept at cost- £269.
  8. By leaf springs, I mean a straight beam axle with the hum on the end. Ifor Williams work this way, maximum strength for heavy work. Independants either have a beam axle bolted directly to the chassis for strength with small trailing arms off the end that the hubs are attached to, or separate trailing arms are bolted to the chassis. These units tend to have a + shaped pivot arm, surrounded by rubber inside them to provide the springing rate and damping function. The other reason for independent units is to lower the chassis height, especially for car trailers. They are great on road, but if you tow off road ( diggers, soil etc) when the going gets tough you tend to bend them a bit!
  9. Thanks both, I take my trailering very seriously and do ensure my loads are balanced and trailer I'd serviced myself. I am pretty sure that it's just something different about independent suspension vs leaf springs that I have always used for work. PRG, the manufacturer have agreed to look at it with me and we are looking down the shock absorber route. It has always surprised me they aren't on all trailers anyway.
  10. Yes, all set fine ( I have towed a lot for 30 years) this is the first trailer with the rubber suspended swing axles I have had on mainland roads. All my others were Ifor Williams- solid axles and leaf springs which I found harsher, but with none of this oscillation. I think the independent swing axles need damping. I assume this is what is fitted to caravans a lot, I wonder if they have dampers?
  11. I have a really nice PRG trailer with twin Al-Co axles. 2600 kg gross. Now I am on the mainland and doing quite a few miles with it, I notice an oscillating motion in the tow car Disco 4) when loaded on long runs. Al-Co do damper kits. Has anyone fitted similar and did they notice any improvement in ride?
  12. If it is a Caterham supplied BDR, they would have been standard 711m spec rods iirc. Good for about 6500 revs. Mine had three like that and one with a bit of a kink in it! Went steel after that.
  13. Here is a good Avon tyres guide for you to peruse, Club tyre pub
  14. Agreed on the lack of sealant. Don't forget to "diagonally cycle" around the bolt pattern to get an even mating surface.
  15. Done. Thanks Alan. Do I have to physically take it to Motul at the event, or can I post it back?
  16. It would just be vat and road tax. No import duty otherwise.
  17. Hi , if you are still looking, there is a nice silver one for sale in Jersey. I Don't know the guy, but know someone who can check it out... https://www.facebook.com/groups/318276998337850/permalink/2277925812372949/?sale_post_id=2277925812372949
  18. As I am now driving around on the mainland I though5 I would pop the screen back on...for the first time in 19 years! it's been in the loft, so is suitably dull.Apart from my lamps, I don't have any silver on the car. Is there a trick to painting the frame, or is it just flat back, etch prime and spray?
  19. Yeah, I'm new to the area so a little scout about may be useful. Good idea.
  20. Hi, I'm looking for a couple of cheap old wheels and tyres as workshop rollers. 13 or 14", Ford centres(108pcd) just to stick on my Capri hillclimber in the shed. oh, forgot! I'm near Sudbury, Suffolk. I can come and collect anytime.
