  1. Apologies... had a tricky time Sun/Mon and ended up in A&E for 9hrs(!). All ok now though, just taking it easy. Here are the pics as promised. They are used, but still useable.
  2. Yes, pretty sure I have a pair in the garage. Will check tomorrow and take pics.
  3. No worries. I do have another pair in good condition but I'm keeping those as spares, sorry.
  4. Apologies - didn't see replies until just now. Here are the mirrors I have... various types. Spa mirrors and others - all will be cheap. Let me know what you want.

    Wheels

I have 2 sets of Ital fitment Minilite wheels available if the above rims aren't the correct ones.
  6. Yes, I have a spare set or two... I'll take some pics today if you're interested?
  7. I spoke to Pipercross and they said a PX500 shouldn't be oiled... .
  8. Just make sure yours is the type that requires oiling. Some do... some don't. Mine (PX500) didn't. Pipercross' website and tech guides are reasonably informative.
  9. Has anyone fitted a PRT thermostat and deleted the heater bypass hoses that loop around the rear of the engine?
  10. I bought a GPS speed sensor from Bridgwater after seeing a post from a fellow Caterham owner who had fitted one to his Caterham after similar speedo cable issues. https://www.bridgwater-electronics.co.uk/gps-road-speed-module-p141 I have yet to fit it mine but will do so by the Spring. .
  11. 1998 DeDion Imperial chassis in very nice condition, with no damage, not crashed, and no rust. There is no V5 as it has always been a track car. 12. Chuck away the brackets and use exhaust bobbins to fix your seat to the floor - that will likely lower it further. I tried many methods of lowering the seat, including bolting it directly to the floor without anything underneath it bar 1 of the black plastic Tillett spacers (which was the very lowest I got it - and far too low for me). Exhaust bobbins are very cheap, and widely available on eBay, and come in a large variety of sizes (depths) so you can buy several and mess about with them until you find your ideal position. I use taller ones at the front and short ones at the rear.
  13. More space above your head, or do you mean more access space? If the latter, then I am replacing my 'Track Day' roll cage with an SLR cage. I bought the Track Day cage from Caterham last year, brand new, and was only on the car for 3 months over the summer. Caterham doesn't stock (or even list) Imperial versions of this cage so I had to have it specially manufactured, which took 5 months. I'd like £950 for it as they're over £1,200 new and mine is as new.
  14. Mine had Loctite on and I just used a medium length 3/8 breaker bar attached to a socket and they came loose. Mine had hex bolts... as have all 4 of the Caterhams I've owned. I've not seen one with cap head bolts before, but the head type isn't the important thing, it's the grade as you have stated.
  15. I can't verify whether those parts are correct but I use DMGRS for all my K Series plugs, coils, filters, gaskets, and other parts and they are brilliant. They will steer you in the right direction and have the parts you need. https://www.dmgrs.co.uk
  16. Ive just removed the diffs from both of my Caterhams as Im swapping them over. I did what others have suggested - used a pry bar (carefully) through the prop UJ to stop it turning while undoing the prop-to-diff bolts.
  17. I'll buy this please David. Will send you a BM.
  18. Yes but... if blue (glycol) coolant meets the engine manufacturer's specs then there's no difference in its cooling properties to OAT, or any risk of damage, surely? So the question is whether bluecol meets the required spec? .
  19. I swapped my windscreen to an aeroscreen for the first trackday I did in my first Caterham. Some years and 3 Caterhams later and I've yet to go back to a windscreen. Full aero - full time. Anything less dilutes the experience - why would you want to do that???? ! 😆

    Rust!

I feel for the OP. That amount of corrosion is shocking, as is the breathtaking quote from the dealer to fix it. This thread is yet another reason why I only ever buy cheaper, older models… fixing them up if they need it, but mostly just driving and enjoying them. Would I like a £40k 420R, or £60k 620R? - Yes I would. Would I actually spend £40k / £60k on a Caterham (or even over £20k for that matter)? - Not on your life!!! Do I get just as much fun and enjoyment out of a cheaper, older car? - You bet.
