  2. How about this? https://www.bearingkits.co.uk/Steel-oil-filler-plug-for-Ford-Type-9-5-speed-gearbox/623.htm They are saying the website is closed this week but looks like they have stock.
  3. Engine & gearbox out using load leveller.
  4. Andy When I had my MOT at the beginning of April my tester just asked me if it was working. I told him I had adjusted as per the manual and he was happy with that. He does deal with a lot of classics so I guess he understands the foibles of an older type of car. Gary
  5. I have a 96 live axle and set it to 3 clicks as per my owners manual.

  7. I use Esso or Tesco Super if I can't get it.
  8. Hi Jonathan It's a 96 classic with1600 GT Crossflow.
  9. Anyone have one of these knocking about? Have done the usual web searches with no success.
  10. I assume these are the latest: https://www.uniroyal.co.uk/car/tyres/rainexpert-3

  12. Hi Alan Not sure if this is any help but my car originally had a four speed but a previous owner put in a type 9 five speed. I wasn't happy with the linkage (two flat steel bars) and eventually came up with a solution using a 25 x 25 square aluminium bar which I directly connected to the short gearbox lever and then made a new remote level that didn't use the ball joint. Gary
  13. I use Supreme+ 99 in my Crossflow. They also have a useful phone app for paying and locating stations
  14. Thanks everyone for the advice. I have plenty to think about Gary
  15. Ian No I don't but I think the reach would be OK. However this would mean replacing the tunnel cover as the current cut out would be in the wrong position. Are they available or would I have to get one made? Regards Gary
  16. I have a 96 Crossflow with a type 9 gearbox (5 speed). The car originally had a 4 speed box but a previous owner changed this. I am assuming the type 9 was slightly shorter as there is a fabricated linkage which is very clunky. I would like to have something mechanically superior so I get better gear changes. Does any one know of an "off the shelf" solution? Or alternatively, has anyone made anything better? I have attached pictures to illustrate. Any help would be much appreciated. Gary
  17. BTW that should be 44 years - old age
  18. I have just retired after 34 years in and around Print. My last few years were invoked in the Large Format side of the business which covers car wrapping amongst other things. it is a real skill and very important the templates are correct. If you go to the 3M website (one of the major vinyl suppliers), you will find a list of their partners. You need to find the ones that specialise in car wrapping (CW). https://www.3m.co.uk/3M/en_GB/graphics-and-signage-uk/resources/select-partners/ Also, there is a Facebook page called Sign & Wrap Chat for Impartial Advice. Go on and ask the question for a list of names. Good Luck. Gary

    Li-ion battery

I have one of these, works fine and you can unscrew it completely if you leave the car unattended. I also keep a battery conditioner connected when in the garage. So far no problems with the battery.
  20. Ive just balanced the carbs and set the air mixture and idle speed all OK. Checked the throttle cable is running free and replaced the throttle return spring with a new one. However, when I run the car and its hot the idle speed is up by about 100 rpm. What I have found is that the throttle return is not going back where is was seated when set up. If I push it it bottoms out and goes to the correct speed. But if I then rev the car it does the same thing. It's a single cable with a single return spring. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be causing this. Just to add I've cleaned and lubricated all moving parts and it does work OK when cold. Gary
