  2. Hi all, as part of the Cambelt replacement work I'm going to do (R400K) I will also changing the belt on my pump...whats the procedure to tension etc ?...does the pump move of the tensioned wheel ?..is it like the alternator belt wrt tension (ie 'just enough') also having read the various DS oil change recommendations on here...is removing the blue plate preferred over removing the sump bolt which is just forward of the plate ? Finally the recommendation to check the scavenge pump pick up pipe for debris ...?...which pipe is that and how do I get to it ? thanks all Graham
  3. yep , thats an option for sure..
  4. HI all, anyone know the spec of the grub screw that secures the alloy know to the gear change shaft ?....and where I can get one ?....tx Graham
  5. thanks all !....great comments as always.....
  6. Hi all, delighted to have just upgraded to a R400K...am a tad concerned about the noise level for track days. realise this is both an exhaust and an induction noise issue.. It's a 'standard' R400K setup Roller barrels and a dome/foam air filter..and exhaust is a re-packable system. Whats the collective advice on getting to the 96-98db target ?..or do I need to look for 'noisy' TD's now ? Cheers all, Graham
  7. Thanks Paul, cheers Graham
  8. Anyone have one for sale or know where I can get one ?...thanks Graham
  9. HI all, about to take my first step from Caterham #1 to #2...stepping up to a K-Series R400. Want to refresh Cambelt + tensioner, water pump (while I'm in there) , DS belt and I also hear DS pump should be 'refreshed'... have changed my SS1.6 Cambelt etc a few times..so not worried about process... anyone know the right part number for the belts, tensioner (will it be manual?) also the DS is new to me..so advice on where to get parts/serviced pump appreciated... any other key thoughts ? thanks all Graham

  15. Great thanks guys....Caterham have an odd description here: https://caterhamparts.co.uk/bolts/4192-fixing-bolt-strut-top-k-clutch-to-lightweight-flywheel.html?search_query=clutch+bolts&results=237, and QED sounds a bit more specific here: https://qedmotorsport.co.uk/qed-shop/rover-k-series/flywheels/clutch-to-flywheel-bolt-standard/early/1-8 think the QED spec looks right. G
  16. it was all going so well... just installing a l/w flywheel in my 1.6 K. ..all looking good until I tried to install pressure plate...my old bolts are a smaller size than the new l/w flywheel... any ideas as to the size required for the l/w f/w ?...I bought it ages ago on BC...don't know what it was originally intended for...checked the size/trigger pattern etc...all that looks good. thanks Graham
  17. great...makes sense...back to the garage !...cheers G
  18. Just about to install a new one...noticed inside bearing there is a seal at one end..does it matter ? have done the change before, old one also had a seal...but did not notice which way in/out it was 1.6 K Rover..6 Speed... tx Graham

  20. Hi all, have cleared the engine 'bay' ...exhaust/wiring etc to remove engine....looks like the bolts to secure bell housing to block are pretty accessible.. all I want to do is swap the flywheel for a lightweight...plus CRB etc.. Is it easier to leave gearbox in car and have the 'challenge' of realigning the g'box to engine with g'box still in car on reinstall ? or take it all out in one go ? also spotted the helpful advice of using 'lifting eyes' vs straps under engine...anyone know where the lifting eyes can be purchased ? cheers. Graham
  21. Hi all, I recall from last time I took engine out, when re-assembling I needed a specific sealant to bead around mating surface of 6 speed gearbox to the bell housing....cannot remember specific type...suggestions please ? thanks Graham
