  1. Cheers for the responses. The wipers have been on the shelf since last year, and the bottle can stay there too now
  2. I've been running with my Brooklands screens for just over a year now. The first time the car had its MOT test with them was 2020, and it passed without issue. This year, I have removed the windscreen washer bottle (still 3/4 full of fluid), but as the car has the jets fitted, does it need to bottle for the MOT? Granted, if tested it misses the Brooklands by a few inches (face wash) so its utterly useless, but as the nozzle is not adjustable, that may be irrelevant. Do any aero users know if the bottle (where fitted) is mandatory for the MOT? cheers, Malc

    Servicing wisdom

Hi Dan, Personally I would have the car 'serviced' annually, even if that meant a) doing it myself (unlikely as I don't have the skills or the patience) b) having a local specialist change the oil, plugs and giving the car a good look over Most specialists are happy to talk about what's best for you and your car – and I like the reassurance from the "spanner check" that mine gets at the same time, as well as the review of possible perished / worn parts (belts etc.) that I would otherwise miss. Yes you can do all of this yourself, if you have the time and can source the knowledge, but for me a second pair of eyes is a valuable part of the service. Even after a winter lay-up or extended period of inactivity, its a good idea to have a re-commissioning session, and I like to tie this in with my MOT and annual service - which ever level the car requires at the time. malc

    7" LED Headlamps

I am interested in fitting the Cafe Racer 7" light modules to my existing chrome bowls. Can someone who has does this please post a photo of these in-situ so I can see how it all looks. My goal is to retain the existing look and feel, but with an E-marked LED unit in place…
  5. This might help: https://revolution.motorsportuk.org/full_page_image/page-16-32/content.html – the date of installation (pre 2019) and level of requirement by your discipline seems to be the key information.
  6. Thats good to hear Colin. I have some Gemzoe-supplied LED bulbs, and would be interested in some fully-legal LED headlamp units to fit within my 7" Chrome bowls.
  7. Heading northwest on the A4146 near Leighton Buzzard. Driving towards Milton Keynes / Wing on Tuesday evening, roof down and driver wrapped up for the cold.
  8. I had my front suspension reset by Pete at 7-Works Automotive, near Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. I had hit a kerb (while avoiding the speedhump) and knocked the tracking out and loosened the lower suspension bolt. The subsequent miss-alignment ate my nearside Toyo R888R in about 3 weeks (100-200 miles). Pete spent two hours with me resetting the tracking, and camber, and restored the handling to a balanced neutral.
  9. Welcome! There is a guide to jacking up your Seven on the Get To Know Your Seven (GTKYS) pages on this site – it's very good and I have a copy printed out on the wall in my garage. https://www.lotus7.club/guides/getting-started-guides/get-know-your-seven I would remove the wheels at home (get some axle stands) and then you retain control of the car an its jacking / raising.
  10. Passed you on Station Road – K6 RPG
  11. Where are you based Dan R? I'm in north Herts, but have been known to sneak over a border or two for a decent blat.
  12. I was out early Sunday morning - passed through Pant about 0530 and then again about 0730.
  13. If you get stuck with the hood, you can always call captain Flack and the boys to assist you with an extraction… Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Grubb…
  14. Hi Paul, I've been running my Roadsport on 14" Toyo R888Rs for the last 2 years. I can't fault them, and the dry grip is so much better than Avon ZTs. Malc
  15. Try Chris at Redline. His advert is on rotation at the top of this page. Top bloke!
  16. Simon Rogers at Meteor Motorsport sorted me out with the last set I bought.
  17. We passed on the Hexton road near Hitchin this afternoon. I hope you found some clear roads.

  19. Today was my first proper drive with the Brooklands – 30 minutes to RatRace for the service and MOT. I love the open feeling, but did find it more buffeting than expected and would have lost my hat if the ear-defenders were not clamped over the top. The car has lowered floors, passenger toneau cover and driver halfdoor fitted – so I had hoped most of the rushing air would be deflected over my head. Is it possible to adjust the rake of the Brooklands to reduce / minimise the gales at 60mph and beyond?
  20. I was in the same situation a few weeks ago. Jo was very helpful, so be a little patient. You will need to buy a punch tool and base plate (Caterham Cars sell them as a set, as do others I'm sure). There are not many videos on how to fit the studs, but I did find one on the Softbits For Sevens channel which gives you half an idea on how it works. I used a small screwdriver/ bradel to make the initial hole first, while the half screen was taped to the side of the car. Take it slow.
  21. Big white button on the top bar (red) ?
  22. I really like my 14" Toyo R888R tyres for general and fast road use. I'm not a trackday driver. They do need a bit more respect in the wet, and I would caution against using them in very cold weather, but overall they work very well with my Caterham Roadsport 140. I have driven rental Caterhams on the Uniroyal tyres – hired from Boyd Stokes in Scotland. They were very a good choice and suited the variances in Scottish weather well. It is a shame that Avon did not extend the development of the ZZS to 14" wheels.
  23. Thanks Philip. Its the interchangeability that I am hoping to achieve, so a little light bending will be applied.
