  1. Spotted a Caterham on the front of this months Revolution magazine… The photo originates from a damp Sprint day at Pembrey. Also inside this issue is Hertfordshire AR "Dikko" bouncing around, but not in his Seven. You can view the full issue here: https://revolution.motorsportuk.org/
  2. The 14" wheels you have are a great choice for the road, and will be good on track too. 13", without adjustable suspension would lower your ride height by around 10mm, while the 15" wheels need shallower profile tyres which lack the compliance that helps the seven ride so well on the 'average' British B road. Stick with the 14s for now, and get a set of Toyo R888Rs. You can add a second set of wheels and tyres later if you want to try some alternatives.
  3. Cheers Steve - I will treat my seven to a winter wipe over this winter
  4. Boyd Stokes, he of Highland Caterham Hire, has recommended Lanoguard, so I am adding that to my Christmas list… has anyone else used it? Hopefuly Alan can sign them up for a Club discount soon
  5. Two, two… one, one, two. One-two.
  6. Passed you in my Viper Blue S3 at Great Chishill, around 1.30pm. I hope you enjoyed the B1039.
  7. I can give these a good home Paul. what's the postage cost to AL5 ?
  8. Were headrests an option for the seats you have fitted when they were new? If so, they might be available second hand or as new-old-stock? Post a photo of the seats - this might act as useful nudge to help source them too. You can also get a head/ helmet rest / pad that mounts on the roll-bar. This could be an alternative solution.
  9. This stealthy Seven was probably in for an MOT? If you are local, say 'hi'
  10. Pete at 7 Works Automotive likes to build looms. He's based near Biggleswade and is well respected by the local Seven community. If the remains of the current loom bear little resemblance to the car, then commissioning a new one is likely to save you months of heartache in the future. It will also get your car on the road quicker
  11. PS sent re selection of lights Malc

    Aero attire

R it does – but it be more like guidelines than actual rules you see…

    Aero attire

This is my aero helmet - a lightweight R.E.D snowboard / skateboard lid that offers protection from the stones and other debris, but does not feel heavy, or get too hot. The helmet has optional ear pads that help reduce wind noise. Oakley Flightdeck goggles with prescription inserts - these cope exceptionally well with the low sun in early morning and evening drives.
  14. Cheers Rob - that looks promising. Message sent.
  15. Hi Paul – I have sent you my details in a private message.
  16. Does anyone have a spare 7" Chrome headlamp retaining bezel to fit my bowl? - see photo for style. The original went to Wales and never came home, so I need a replacement. Looking on some car parts websites, there seem to be a variety of methods to attach them - and none look exactly like mine with a single screw / bracket at the top and the slot / flange at the bottom. Any help or guidance would be appreciated, Malc
  17. Cheers Ian - its just the mount and lens that I need, so I will ask the Caterham Parts team if that is included in their 'assembly'.
  18. My 1999 1.8 K-Series Roadsport has three bulbs in between the tacho and speedo dials. The top bulb is a rev-limit light, with a clear, domed holder. I need to source a new dome and plastic holder as my original part has disintegrated - brittle plastic due to age I suspect. Does anyone with this style of dash - with the 3 vertical warning lamps - know of a supplier for a new holder / dome? Malc
  19. That was a shiny black Seven, but they missed out on a good run to the coast.
  20. Caterham seats are stiff awkward buggers to move at any time. This gets worse the more you drive the car as all manner of grit and grot ends up in the runners jamming them up further. My method is to remove the seat cushion so you can see the seat frame, and that the seat-release lever is pulled / pushed until it disengages from the runner. If the leaver does not move out of the runner slot, then that needs investigation / persuasion. If it does, then hit the frame with a rubber mallet in the direction you wish the seat to move. It will most likely nudge along in 3-5mm jolts. Spraying the inside of the runners (through the small holes) with lubricant might help, but this can cause further clogging later.
  21. Update: I have fitted new LED inserts from Classic and Sevens: https://sevensandclassics.com/used-parts/led-headlamps-5-3-4-2/ Installation was straight forward and they fit within the original 7" Chrome bowls on my 1999 Roadsport. Unlike the Cafe Racer options, these do not protrude beyond the chrome bezel, although the lamp glass is more domed than the original Wipac lenses. The Halo ring can be used as DRL - either in yellow (as pictured) or white if you reverse the sidelight connections. I have since swapped to the white as I prefer it. Dipped and Main are brighter and (hopefully) more focused than the LED bulbs I was using before. The units are e-marked and Andy at Classics and Sevens assured me they are MOT compliant. My car is being MOT'd on Friday… The only issue I encountered was the need to replace my headlamp relay, as the old one (circa 1999?) got stuck during the change over. I also wore out the original headlamp rocker switch while testing, so a new one was sourced as well. Thanks to Derek and Jonathan for the information and trouble-shooting assistance. This elastic-trickery stuff is not my area of expertise.
  22. I'm not sure how they are "supposed" to come out, but my top (white) lamp holder has recently deceased and self-destructed. Chris @Redline is on the hunt for a replacement, but until then the loose bulb is rattling around the dash. There is so little of mine left that I couldn't tell you if it was a front-loader, or if the lens cap clicks on to hold it all in place… you are wise to be cautious with the brittle plastic.
